"Over a hundred," Xu Dan replied, "but most of them can't fully control their abilities. Even a small slip could hurt others. You know the strength of the Antarctic enterprise, but with our current resources… I've personally overseen the production, and even so, we've only managed fifteen sets. Imagine the difficulty of making a hundred!"

"Then let's thank those mutants enduring the pain of their powers," Xu Dan said, "maybe one day soon they'll return to the city above to live."
"Don't thank me," Wanda said lightly. "Who'd want to leave this underwater kingdom? It's beautiful!"
Indeed, it was breathtaking—a culmination of Xu Dan's efforts, designed and built by the world's most advanced team. Even upon a second visit, newcomers still felt awe.
Still, most inhabitants of this city were members of the Brotherhood of Mutants. They had no fixed homes on the surface and were grateful to Xu Dan for promoting mutant liberation, so they followed him willingly.
The city was alluring, but humans were land-dwelling creatures; many would eventually return to the surface. For some mutants struggling with unstable powers, their choices were less clear—they might remain or leave after stabilization.
"When do we start?" Wanda asked eagerly. "I could've helped sooner!"
Xu Dan felt a swell of admiration. Few women in his experience were so willing to work alongside men with such dedication.
He led her toward the tallest building in the underwater city. This place was both an ancient holy city and a marvel of high technology. Every street lamp, every path, even the means of transportation, held secrets beyond surface-level appearances. Maglev cars on the surface required tracks, but here, they glided freely without rails.
Stepping through a solemn gate, Wanda felt an almost surreal sense of unreality. The city seemed too perfect to be real—but seeing Xu Dan walking grounded before her reassured her.
At the top of the research building, the view was breathtaking. The roof employed a holographic interface, letting anyone there experience the city as if touching the sky itself—the closest point to the "dome" and the most visually stunning, almost overwhelming. Looking up, one could feel the sky's weight, as if it might fall at any moment.
Wanda clutched Xu Dan's arm and followed him step by step, captivated by this perfect blend of technology and wonder.
