Chapter 9 - Chapter 09: The Mad Evolution

Chapter 09: The Mad Evolution

"Screech!"

In one of the planes within the Endless Abyss, a newly born insectoid abyssal creature was swept by scorching lava. Accompanied by a miserable scream, the creature turned to ash instantly.

But nothing of it was wasted.

Its life structure was deemed "scrap" by the Endless Abyss, no longer to be used.

Its fragmented soul, however, was swiftly gathered by the Abyss to be used in the birth of the next new abyssal being.

Among these fragments, one drifted down toward the deepest layer of the Endless Abyss.

At the bottom, the soul of the Primordial Fallen One was nearly whole again.

Of course, this wasn't the first time it had been remade.

Every time its soul was restored, it would actively begin another grotesque transformation.

And each time, it would give birth to hundreds and thousands of new life forms within the Abyss.

However, these countless, varied creatures could survive only a few dozen minutes in the chaotic and brutal environment of the Abyss.

Most of them couldn't withstand its twisted atmosphere and chaotic storms.

The deeper the layer, the harsher the environment became.

These failed types were considered "rejects" by the Abyss' design.

Ultimately, only a few species passed the tests of the Endless Abyss — managing to survive, take root, and grow their clans.

But even then, none could ever let their guard down.

Because from the moment they were born, every creature of the Abyss began an endless cycle of slaughter.

This wasn't just because of the Abyss' brutal nature, but also because…

It was the will of the Abyss itself!

---

"How's it going?"

In the observation room, Wang Zhi rubbed his forehead and turned to one of the professors beside him.

Usually, as the vice principal — a man of great authority — he was fearless. Yet right now, he didn't even dare to look directly at Chu Hao's world projection.

"It's a shame," Wang Zhi sighed. "Chu Hao's design could've shocked the entire academic field. But something went wrong, and his divine fire started declining…"

The other mentors exchanged awkward looks but said nothing.

"Forget it. Even if Chu Hao's final project fails, I can let him repeat a year. He can try again next term."

For the first time, the strict vice principal — known to hate repeat students — sounded surprisingly gentle.

If any of the students who'd been forced to repeat heard this, their jaws would've hit the floor.

"After all, his design was a major breakthrough…"

But before Wang Zhi could finish the thought, the professor beside him spoke up with a shocked expression.

"Vice Principal Wang — Chu Hao's divine fire is growing again!"

"What?!"

"Yes, not only has it started increasing again — he's back to first place!"

"Impossible! How did he do that?!"

At that moment, Chu Hao's divine fire count had risen from zero to over seven thousand — even higher than before!

Once again, he had left all other graduates far behind.

"What on earth did he do?! Did he redesign the world from scratch?"

"No," the professor said, trembling. "It seems he just let a massive number of living creatures appear in his world!"

Wang Zhi was completely baffled.

Everything Chu Hao was doing had gone far beyond his imagination.

He immediately took over the observation room and aimed every instrument at Chu Hao's world projection.

Given how massive the Endless Abyss was, Wang Zhi intended to study the entire design carefully.

But as soon as they began to observe it, everyone in the room gasped.

"My… god!"

"What kind of monsters are these?!"

In the projection, countless abominations were being born across every stretch of land.

The moment they emerged, they struggled to adapt to their surroundings — while also, under the will of the Abyss itself, slaughtering one another for dominance.

Each monster looked vastly different from the next, yet all of them shared one trait — their power.

Every single one was far stronger than the creatures of ordinary worlds.

Some could withstand poison.

Some thrived in extreme cold.

Some possessed tremendous strength.

Some were born with innate magical abilities.

And even so — they died in droves.

Only the strongest, the fittest, and the most adaptable survived.

The entire Endless Abyss had become a stage for an eternal carnival of slaughter!

---

"The nine hundredth soul reconstruction…"

Chu Hao opened his eyes, his expression slightly weary.

For the past week, he had been remaking the Primordial Fallen One's soul every single day.

Beyond creating life forms that could endure the Abyss' conditions, his greater purpose was to merge his own soul with it — using his creator's authority to nurture a new world consciousness.

The consciousness of the Endless Abyss.

And now, that very consciousness was finally born.

Chu Hao no longer needed to rely on the Fallen One's soul to perceive the world.

With the birth of the Abyssal Will, he now fully controlled the Endless Abyss itself.

With a mere thought, he could perceive every corner — from the eternally frozen lands to the blazing infernos of the molten pits.

More importantly, as the master of the Abyssal Will, Chu Hao could now form spiritual links with any creature within the Abyss.

He could sense every being's existence.

He could control their actions.

He could guide their evolution.

He could even grant them knowledge and power — allowing chosen beings to evolve faster and more in line with his vision.

Most importantly, from the moment they were born, every abyssal creature worshipped Chu Hao devoutly.

They revered him — the incarnation of the Endless Abyss itself.

Their faith fed him endless belief and divine fire.

Yet despite all this, Chu Hao still felt unsatisfied.

Even though he had completely mastered the Abyss, not a single creature had evolved into the form he most desired.

The form of the demon.

Many abyssal creatures possessed terrifying strength, far beyond beings from other divine worlds — but to Chu Hao, they were still imperfect.

"These beings merely adapt to the Abyss," Chu Hao muttered. "But demons… demons are the ones truly fused with the Abyss itself."

"So what must I do to create life like that…?"
