Chapter:1 Nobody
A tall young man with ebony hair and pale skin stood beneath the moonlight of the twin moons. His eyes were mismatched—one a bright, vivid blue, the other a deep, pure black. Most would mistake him for the brooding, mysterious type.
But
"Ach, damn hell with this stale bread!"
"He was eating stale bread ,surprisingly, a delicacy in this world."
Almost everyone here would cherish every bite—except for him.
Well, not exactly an exception—after all, he wasn't from this world….
Michael let out a low sigh as he bit down on the hard loaf. One might think it could break his teeth.
"Well, there goes the rest of my money in this world…" he muttered, pausing as his thoughts drifted.
It had been over three days since he'd transmigrated into this world.
He couldn't help but laugh at how quickly his life had gone downhill. Four days ago, he was sitting on a bench, scrolling through his phone while eating instant noodles. Now, he was gnawing on bread that could double as a weapon.
"Guess the gods struck me down with bad luck," he muttered….as he gazed at the city
This world seemed primitive—somewhere around the medieval stage, if he had to guess.
He didn't remember much about the body's original owner. Only that the man was a drunk, poor, and a narcissistic bastard…
Or so Whst the people say and how they about him..…They said that my eye was cursed—something "beyond the fortress."….
Really, a thing of the past—mistaking heterochromia for a curse.
Though… hell, there could be truth in anything here.
They said that beyond this world within the walls lay another world. Or rather, beyond this part of the world. A place filled with monstrous beings beyond imagination. They were called The Forsaken. No normal human could touch them, much less hunt them.
This was, in fact, one of the reasons why bread and other grains or agricultural foods were considered a delicacy. The lands beyond the walls were treacherous—filled with monsters and abominations beyond reason,
Some said these beings were curses laid by the Great Ones. Others say they were spawn from ancient horrors.
Or so they said.
another reason….is…
Micheal looked at the twin moons…
"Hehe… after what happened, there's no such thing as 'beyond imagination,'" Michael chuckled self-deprecatingly.
'This world, the sun had became our enemy…'
Micheal said a shiver ran down his spine
He stretched, gazing toward the massive stone walls that surrounded the city. They rose like gray mountains, intertwining into a colossal keep that loomed over everything below. If he had to guess, it was more than three thousand meters high.
He switched his gaze to the main keep, its abominable height and sheer scale were truly impeccable—
as if it had been built by giants and carved by tiny ants or halflings to create a wonder of impossible architecture.
This made Micheal a bit distracted from his previous thoughts,
"Truly a magnificent place…" he muttered.
If he truly belonged to this world, he might have ogled the walls with awe. They gave him a strange sense of history—of countless lives and stories trapped within their stones.
Michael stood atop a smaller wall—one of the many bridges and ramparts spread throughout the fortress. From there, he had a bird's-eye view of the main gate—a sight to behold in itself.
Before he could lose himself in thought, the first great gate of the mighty fortress began to open
A deep roar followed thundered through the city, followed by the blare of trumpets.
Michael leaned forward as a formation of black steel–clad men marched through the gate. Their armor was stained with blood, their blades glinted crimson, and their banners were charred at the edges.
People crazy—and powerful—enough to go beyond the fortress, and live to tell the tale.
These were the pride of Gallade Fortress of the 2nd District
the great 1st Red Pyre Battalion.
At their head strode their commander: Cassius Cassiun, his mere presence like a blazing fire cutting through the crowd. His aura burned fierce and molten—like a volcano about to erupt.
The streets came alive.
People waved flags from their windows and lit torches high above the crowd. The cheers echoed like thunder, filling the air with a strange mix of triumph and fear.
Michael watched in awe. The body's original owner had apparently seen this parade many times before. But for him, it was the first.
No one ever left the fortress—not truly. This place was almost a prison, with no jailer but ourselves.
If he ever wanted to go home, the only way—the only hope he had…was through them.
The armored men continued their solemn march into the fortress as the people cheered them on. Their presence alone was enough to make the heart tremble. They were beings who fought monsters beyond imagination and returned alive,so strong they said they could level cities…
Michael chuckled, shaking his head.
"I'm not dumb or foolish enough…" he said between laughs, grinning at the marching monstrous knights,
"I mean, who in their right mind would fight monsters like that?"
He tore another bite from the stale bread and stared at the fortress walls.
"Certainly not me."
He smirked faintly, gazing at the great crowd swooning over the knights
For a moment, the crowd's roar faded into silence. As the world, atleast for him went in slow motion atleast for him..
Michael gave the fortress one last look…following his gaze through the knights,
As he looked into a puddle below him..
A long time ago, he once sought someone for answers.Someone who might've told him what purpose he still had, what meaning he will have in existence….And maybe just maybe they could've gave him those answers…
though thinking about those thoughts made Micheal chuckle,it was truly insignificant,in the grand scheme of things,Truly insignificant..
As life is insignificant,I am insignificant and so are they were insignificant…This would be same thought process of the old Micheal, the half crazed man…
Maybe it was insignificant, but maybe this time it wasn't…
Chuckled as he though og something taht Whst made him a part of him hurt, from the old him or the new one..He chuckled self deprecatingly..
He exhaled, a faint, bitter grin tugging at his lips..Truly in a deep though,
"Nobodies," he murmured…
"Truly… a bunch of nobodies."
