"Let's begin!"
The cards were dealt smoothly across the table. Stacks of chips were pushed forward. Watches and car keys remained placed at the center as side bets.
Owen did not speak much, just observed.
For the first round. He checked his cards without reacting. There are two pairs that are strong enough.
One of the men raised the bet confidently.
Another followed, Owen matched it without hesitation.
Lilian watched closely how Owen was playing, she intentionally leaned closer.
The room grew quieter around their table. A few guests gathered to watch, already having a guess in their minds who's gonna win.
Second round of betting.
A player across from him smirked. "You're too calm. That makes me nervous."
Owen grinned, "You should be."
More chips slid forward, one player folded, another stayed.
For the final reveal, their cards hit the table. The man beside Owen had three of a kind.
Murmurs spread. Owen placed his cards down last.
