[The Arcane Game]
»Deadly competition that occurs once every 12 years, where three participants from each of the 8 cities in Grimland are to compete for the Desideria Tria.
[Instructors]
»God-like overseers of the Game. Each Instructor is responsible for one city and may interfere with candidates' paths, eliminating some or testing them in ways that favour their own wagers.
[Candidates]
»Before the Game begins, each city must produce a pool of twelve candidates. These individuals are selected by the Game itself, essentially to fight for a chance to become a participant. And each chosen individual is given a choice to accept or reject the mark of the Game. Candidates are then bestowed with supernatural abilities and must use any means necessary to secure their position as a participant.
[Arc Seal]
»Every individual chosen to become a candidate receives a mysterious mark. The Arc Seal identifies the individual as a part of the Game and it cannot be removed. It also contains three hidden abilities, which the bearer can activate in moments of extreme need, even when their mana is depleted.
[Participants & The Thrine]
»From the pool of candidates, only three individuals from each city can advance to officially participate in the Game. Those individuals are called participants and collectively, they are known as the Thrine of the city.
[Rules of the Thrine selection]
»If exactly three candidates survive pre-game trials, they automatically become the city's Thrine.
»If more than three candidates remain when the Game is set to commence, the Game itself intervenes. It then selects the three participants itself and those not chosen by the Game to become participants are immediately eliminated from existence.
[Desideria Tria]
»Grants each participant from the Thrine that won a wish, which can manifest as anything within the limits of reality and magic.
