Naevius found the first tree in his eyesight; unfortunately for him, the ground right now wasn't the safest place for a human like him.
Both of them moved with grace, tracing each step, knowing what would happen if they moved one centimeter to the wrong side. As the Wolf and Auva danced together on the ground, the boy hiding in the trees saw an opportunity to do something. He just needed an opening.
Who better to open that door, if not Auva herself?
The bigger wolf dashed towards Auva's direction, with his claws up in the air. Naevius was sure that if she hadn't dodged, she would've died, yet that was not in the girl's plan. With her own two hands, she holds the wolf's paws up in the air, twisting her wrist to put herself in a position over the beast.
A sense of despair filled the wolf; somehow, his weak prey now had a strength that matched his, if not stronger. Still holding his paws against the ground, she hit her own forehead on his stomach, one, two, three. With each strike, her head connected with the beast's stomach, each headslam a sound of pain left his mouth.
Suddenly, Auva couldn't hit her head anymore; his fur had become stiffer and stronger, a clear sign of what was to come. Loosening the grip from her hands, she quickly jumped from his stomach to a safe place.
Getting part of that wolf's body had given her resistance to his own lightning, that was true, and yet, a deadly shock was still something she had to avoid. That enormous beast exploded in a sphere of thunder and lightning mixed in a lethal dosage.
He rolled to the side to get up one more time, and now he wasn't going to make a mistake again. He remained still, now waiting for Auva's strike, exactly what she had done with him.
Unexpectedly, the strike hadn't come from her, but instead from somewhere up in the trees. Even though his fur was surprisingly protected because of his abilities, his eyes were an exception. The tree branch flew into his right eyeball. Naevius, the one who threw, could only see his head quickly moving to the sides as a howl of pain could be heard from the entire clearing and forest.
Auva did an opening to Naevius, and now he had repaid her with a new one. The moment the wolf turned his head to the sky to howl in pain, the girl put every ounce of strength she had left in her feet. In a few seconds, she was already staring him face-to-face.
Lowering his head, the beast couldn't see the girl anymore. After all, she used his new weak spot as an approach option; the animal had only recognized her presence when he felt the branch lodge in his eye being grossly removed.
Again, the beast would howl in pain, or at least he tried. As Auva finally got her hands on that branch, before he could stir his fur one more time, she quickly stabbed his neck, dragging from one side to another.
Drops of blood fell onto the beautiful grass, staining its bright green with a horrible red that would stay forever in their minds, reminding them every day what had happened here.
The wolf was alive; he could fight more. Maybe even kill them, but by his own pack rules, he had lost.
The undefeatable wolf, the Ex-Alpha that had remained in his position for decades, had finally lost.
Lowering his head in a signal of respect to the girl was proof of his defeat. And even showing respect, he couldn't hold his depression, a low howl of sadness, together with a layer of tears that fell from his bruised eye.
Auva scanned him, and slowly a smile of satisfaction built up on her expression, or could it be another thing? A smile so big that she couldn't hide from anyone, a smile that appeared after defeating a bigger threat than that, and not only that, but stealing its position, its beloved pride.
It wasn't satisfaction, it was pleasure. Pleasure in seeing such a pathetic creature defeated.
"You fucking did it!" Naevius finally reached her, out of breath. She didn't move, still looking at the beast that displayed respect. "So, what do we do to him?"
Something stirred inside her. "We?" No, SHE would do it. SHE defeated him. It was her prey.
As she turned around to face Naevius, the boy's entire body shivered, the same feeling he felt when they met with the alpha wolf for the first time. In fractions of a second, Auva suddenly jumped on Naevius. His only reaction was to put his arms in front of the claws that the girl had on her hands.
Both had fallen on the ground. She was on top of him, her claws slowly getting deeper inside his arm, as if trying to remove it. And it wouldn't take a lot of effort. Naevius was weak, and his regeneration wouldn't support him for enough time.
A wild idea came to his mind, he didn't remove his arm, because her claws could easily remove his head from his neck. But he let a perfect opening for a bite.
And even though he had felt this exact feeling from the wolves before, this was worse. She was stronger, more ruthless, more cruel. She wasn't trying to eat him; she was showing him who was the boss there, exactly like a wolf would do.
She swayed Naevius' neck like crazy, and eventually she stopped.
Again, something snapped inside of her, tears stormed from her eyes, and when she noticed what she had done to her friend, she quickly removed the fangs and claws from his body. As she stumbled back, the furs that were invading her body slowly disappeared together with their claws and fangs.
"Na-Naevius I… I-I'm sorry!" As she quickly ran towards him to help, she was stopped by his hand. Nor a slap or an attack, just his hand open in the air, asking for a second.
"I-I'm fine." His wounds were slowly closing. Auva noticed it, a slow process, and it was probably a painful one. "Just… let's rest, okay?"
She nodded, and her eyes widened in fear, quickly scanning the place for the wolf. The moment she saw him, a strange feeling crawled towards her chest, a stabbing and torturous one. A Feeling that only existed when she looked at her defeated enemy.
She walked towards him, and as she got closer, he would shrink more and more.
Getting face-to-face with him, she could only see a scared living being.
They got into his home, killed his family, and they dared to call him a monster?
As she saw life escaping from his eyes, she rested her hands on his scarred head. Her fingers moved through its fur, comforting him.
Closing his left eye with her touch, the wolf felt relieved. His tail reacted to her touch, swinging it slowly, then performing his last breath under her comfort.
