Chapter 5 - Honkai Energy

Somewhere in the Siberia snowfield.

Looking at the seemingly unchanged surroundings.

Bella couldn't help but sigh.

Two days had passed since she set out, but even now, there was still no trace of human habitation around her.

"If only this useless system would do something, but it's a complete waste."

Bella glanced at Paimon, who was sitting on her shoulder, eyes closed, swinging her little legs back and forth, humming a song Bella had never heard before.

Bella wasn't just rushing on her way that day.

During her casual chats with Paimon, Bella had also gathered some information.

According to Paimon, the world was multi-dimensional.

Dimensional worlds could be divided into foundational worlds, low-tier worlds, mid-tier worlds, and high-tier worlds.

Like Bella's previous life, it was a foundational world with no extraordinary powers.

The world Bella had transmigrated to, however, was a high-tier world, and one that was quite advanced even among high-tier worlds.

Generally, one dimension corresponded to one tier of world.

But the dimension Bella was currently in was surprisingly composed of two dimensions: Sea and Tree.

The Tree formed worlds, and after the worlds withered, they fell into the Sea, which then nourished the Tree, allowing the Tree to form new worlds.

The two complemented each other, together forming this peculiar dimensional universe.

However, precisely because of this, the special rules formed by their close integration severely suppressed external forces in this world.

It was fine for someone like Bella, who had directly reincarnated into this world, as she was essentially branded by this world and wouldn't be suppressed.

Outsiders like Paimon were severely suppressed by this world, their powers essentially completely sealed.

The functions on the system panel, such as the shop, storage space, and gacha, were all unusable.

This meant that Paimon, aside from this system panel, couldn't do anything else at the moment.

"Sigh, if only it could give me a map of this place."

Bella felt a bit helpless.

Walking aimlessly like this, she didn't know when she would be able to leave this snowfield.

The good news was that her current body didn't seem to need food; she only needed to absorb the special energy in the air to move, though her stomach felt empty.

But at least Bella didn't have to worry about starving to death in this snowfield.

Feeling the invisible energy in the air slowly flowing into her body.

"I wonder if this special energy is the Honkai energy displayed on the panel. It can not only relieve my fatigue but also seems to be repairing my body. It's quite versatile."

Looking at the "Honkai energy adaptation max" entry on the panel, Bella thought to herself.

After giving the system, which claimed it would turn her into the strongest dragon girl in the world but couldn't do anything, a death glare yesterday.

Paimon, with a strong will to survive, quickly said that she should be able to analyze the special energy in the air and integrate it into the system, allowing the system to connect to this world.

This way, even if it couldn't unlock the system's functions, at least it could obtain some information about this world through this method.

Perhaps there would be a way to solve the current predicament then, and only then did Bella let Paimon off the hook.

"If there's still no way, using it as emergency food wouldn't be bad. Stewed or grilled? Hehe."

Bella thought wickedly to herself.

At this moment, Paimon suddenly opened her eyes and excitedly stood up on Bella's shoulder.

"Hahaha, as expected of the world's most amazing me, no difficulty can stump me, wahahaha!"

"It actually succeeded?"

Bella was a bit surprised. It seemed this useless Paimon still had some ability after all.

Then the "emergency food plan" would be put on hold for now.

Unaware that she had narrowly escaped a disaster, Paimon excitedly flew from Bella's shoulder to in front of her.

"Host, because of the integration of this world's energy, the panel has changed slightly. Please wait a moment."

Bella saw Paimon waving her small hands in front of her, seemingly operating something in the void.

"Done!"

Soon, as Paimon stopped her movements.

A slightly different panel appeared before Bella.

Bella looked down, one by one.

The abilities on the panel hadn't changed, but the previously dimmed shop and gacha below the abilities had disappeared.

Only the "Tasks" and "Storage Space" sections remained, and they were both lit up, indicating they were usable.

Tasks, needless to say, Paimon hadn't issued any tasks so far.

Bella looked at the Storage Space.

With a thought.

A golden-glowing aura appeared before Bella.

"This is the entrance and exit to the storage space."

"It seems I can't put living things in it, but it's roughly the size of two rooms, which isn't bad."

Putting away the storage space, Bella nodded with satisfaction.

Bella put away the panel and looked at Paimon.

Perhaps due to integrating the unique energy of this world, Paimon's appearance had also changed.

Mysterious purple patterns appeared on the crown ornament on her head and on her small cape.

"There must be more than just this, right?"

Bella looked at Paimon with amusement.

"Hmph hmph, of course! I am the world's most amazing Paimon-sama!"

Looking at Paimon, who had her hands on her hips and an arrogant expression, Bella smiled helplessly.

"Alright, alright, world's number one Paimon-sama, please quickly tell me what else you've learned."

"Hehe."

Paimon chuckled when she heard Bella's words.

"This time, by integrating this world's energy, I connected to the core of this world and obtained some information and fragments of this world's recent history."

"First, this energy I integrated is called Honkai energy in this world. This energy is highly malleable and can be used as a power source, applied in various fields. If humans master this energy, it's not an exaggeration to call them superhumans."

"But in principle, this energy is uncontrollable, unless one has Honkai energy adaptability to a certain extent to control it."

"Or, when the Honkai energy in an area reaches a certain threshold, a "Great Honkai" phenomenon will occur, which can give birth to individuals capable of controlling Honkai energy."

Paimon explained.

"The Honkai energy content in this snowfield we are currently in is very high, so a Great Honkai must have occurred."

"And looking at the concentration of this Honkai energy, it probably erupted 15 years ago, which corresponds to the history of this world that I obtained."

"We should now be located at the ruins of the Second Honkai Eruption—Siberia."

Paimon stated definitively.

"Honkai energy, Second Honkai Eruption, Siberia…"

"Isn't this Honkai Impact 3rd!"

Good news: Bella finally remembered where that familiar feeling came from.

Bad news: Bella had never played this game and didn't know the plot.

And, for some reason.

When she heard "Second Honkai Eruption"…

Something seemed to flash in Bella's mind, accompanied by a slight twinge of pain.

"It must be an illusion."

Shaking her head, she pulled her thoughts back to the present.

Bella in her previous life knew about the game Honkai Impact 3rd, after all, it was developed by the same company as Genshin Impact, a game she loved, and she had learned a little about it.

But now she only remembered some game settings, and that the plot seemed very sweet?

Sweet is good. A sweet plot meant this world shouldn't be very dangerous.

The plot also seemed to have some kind of academy, so it was probably a "everyone's good, happily drinking tea" kind of club game, ha ha.

Then she should be able to live the retired, lazy life she wanted.

Bella nodded.

But to be safe, it's better to stay away from the protagonist's group. Better safe than sorry.

After all, in Bella's impression (from her previous life's gaming experience),

Approaching the protagonist = entering the plot = trouble coming knocking = retired life moving away from her.

So, not approaching the protagonist was her best choice.

"Hmm, after leaving this snowfield, I'll find a secluded place to spend the rest of my life."

At this moment, Paimon still didn't know.

Her host, whom she wanted to train to be the world's number one dragon girl, had already decided to find a secluded place to live out her retirement after leaving.
