Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Roller Coaster

Sunday morning, the sun rose early, casting warm and bright sunlight across the land. This golden glow was like a soft veil, gently draped over everyone, making them feel a warm comfort, as if endowed with endless vitality.

At the entrance of Tropical Land, four figures arrived as promised. No matter how bad Shinichi Kudo's personality was, it was undeniable that he did have a rather handsome face. Of course, compared to all you dear readers, he might still be a little bit lacking ("Fingertip Universe"!)

The four of them were all top-notch in appearance, and their arrival easily attracted the attention of the surrounding crowd. The most dazzling among them was Hanyu Nan, whose sunny and handsome demeanor was like a brilliant star, causing passersby to stop and look back, unable to help but want to take a few more glances.

Ran and Sonoko were dressed in casual clothes today, completely different from the school uniforms they usually wore. They exuded a different kind of youthful charm, full of vibrant energy.

When Hanyu Nan arrived, he found Shinichi Kudo endlessly recounting the stories of Sherlock Holmes and Watson to Ran, seemingly never running out of things to say.

Ran, meanwhile, held a handbag in both hands, absentmindedly responding to Shinichi Kudo's explanations while casting her gaze around, observing her surroundings.

After Ran saw Hanyu Nan and Sonoko, she quickly waved to the two of them.

"Sonoko, Yuusheng-san, over here..." From afar, Ran waved her arms, her shouts carried by the wind. Seeing this, the two immediately quickened their steps and walked towards Ran.

"Where shall we go play later?" Sonoko eagerly asked Ran, her eyes, however, remaining on Hanyu Nan, full of anticipation. Hanyu Nan smiled slightly and responded gently, "You guys decide, I don't have any particular preference."

At this moment, Ran held an advertisement for Tropical Land, excitedly pointing to one of the rides—the roller coaster—and said, "This is it! I've wanted to try it for a long time!" Sonoko looked in the direction Ran was pointing and couldn't help but show a hint of an awkward smile.

"Haha, this really suits your personality, Ran," she said, teasing her with a laugh.

Shinichi Kudo also curiously leaned in, examining the advertisement. "Wow, it looks pretty scary, are we really going to ride this?" he asked with a slight worry.

Ran frowned slightly, glanced at Shinichi, and retorted, "What, are you scared, Shinichi?"

"Hmph, I'm a famous Detective, how could I be scared!" Shinichi straightened up, feigning composure as he replied.

"Stop bragging, you so-called famous Detective. My dad has been complaining that you've been stealing his business lately, causing him to not get any cases," Ran mercilessly exposed Shinichi's "disguise."

"Eh? That's your dad's lack of professional skill, how can you blame me?" Shinichi Kudo shook his head with a helpless expression.

Hanyu Nan didn't think much of it; solving cases for free without charging was considered disrupting the market environment.

It was only because Kogoro Mouri and Shinichi Kudo's dad were classmates, otherwise he and Ran would have absolutely no chance.

Sonoko, seeing this, quickly walked over to mediate, "Alright, alright, Shinichi, Ran, you two stop bickering. Let's hurry and go queue up." As she spoke, she also asked Hanyu Nan for his opinion.

Hanyu Nan nodded, naturally having no objection to this suggestion. After all, he came to the amusement park specifically for the roller coaster ride.

However, Shinichi Kudo's brain must have had a wire crossed, because he added a sentence to the topic that had already ended:

"With your dad's case-solving ability, he really isn't suited to be a Detective. Your mom and your dad separating was absolutely the correct choice."

Upon hearing this, Ran's eyes turned red. Ran's greatest wish was for her parents to reconcile.

But now, her childhood friend was telling her that separating was the correct choice.

Ran clenched her fists tightly, her body trembling slightly, looking at Shinichi Kudo in disbelief.

Hanyu Nan also hadn't expected Shinichi Kudo to be so bold. Ran might eat vegetables, but her Karate was not to be trifled with.

"Is there a problem?" Being stared at by Ran like that, Shinichi Kudo also felt a little flustered, but he wasn't sure what he had said wrong.

Suzuki Sonoko, who was standing nearby, took all of this in. Seeing her friend's hurt expression, she instantly became furious.

"Hey, Shinichi Kudo, you self-righteous guy, what on earth are you talking about!" Suzuki Sonoko glared angrily at Shinichi Kudo, rebuking him without mercy.

Ran gently pulled Sonoko's hand and whispered, "It's okay, Sonoko, I'm fine." She tried hard to control her emotions.

Afterward, she forced herself to cheer up and continued her conversation with Hanyu Nan.

"Yuusheng-san, so you like roller coasters too?" Ran tried her best to keep her voice calm.

"Yes, what a coincidence, Ran, do you too?" Hanyu Nan replied with a smile.

Sonoko, who had originally been a bit afraid of roller coasters, now saw that her best friend and the boy she liked actually shared the same hobby, and she secretly encouraged herself.

She told herself that she absolutely couldn't show weakness, so she bit the bullet and said, "Haha, it seems we really are destined!"

The three walked along, chatting and laughing, deliberately ignoring Shinichi Kudo, who was beside them.

Shinichi Kudo, who had been silently watching the three of them chatting and laughing beside him, finally couldn't hold back anymore and wanted to try to join their conversation.

So he interrupted, saying, "Speaking of roller coasters, let me tell you about a case involving a roller coaster..."

It's really you, washing machine! You can't go three sentences without talking about a case.

As expected, no one paid him any attention.

Just as the four of them arrived at the entrance of the roller coaster ride, the sharp-eyed Shinichi Kudo suddenly noticed three sneaky children in elementary school uniforms secretly sneaking into the roller coaster's cave.

Witnessing all of this, Shinichi Kudo couldn't help but frown, muttering, "Kids nowadays are getting bolder and bolder. Looking at them, they're probably trying to sneak in without a ticket. Kids these days are really unbearable!"

Although he said that, Shinichi Kudo had no intention of stopping them, and he even gestured for the other three to come and watch.

"Come and see, are these three kids trying to ride for free?"
