Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Krabby Farm! Playing with Pearls!

Kaito felt a sensation, and with a thought, a Luxury Ball materialized in his hand. A flash of white light erupted, revealing a Shiny Ralts—it had blue hair and an orange horn situated prominently on its forehead.

A Ralts can keenly use the horn on its head to sense the emotions of people and Pokémon. When its Trainer is happy, it naturally shares that joy.

Name: Ralts, Nickname: None, Ability: Synchronize, Type: Psychic, Fairy, Level: Lv. 5, Individual Values (IVs): All 31, Moves: Growl, Disarming Voice, Double Team, Egg Moves: Mean Look, Shadow Sneak, Mystical Fire, Potential: God-tier.

A perfect IV Ralts! God-tier potential! And it was a Shiny with a powerful ability like Synchronize! As expected of a system product, it truly is a masterpiece, Kaito thought.

He couldn't help but check his own simplified stats out of curiosity: Name: Kaito, Age: 18, Unlocked Identity: Farmer, Special Abilities: None, Owned Pokémon: Shiny Ralts, Growlithe, Miltank, Machamp, several Krabby.Hmm... quite basic, Kaito mused that since he wasn't a Pokémon, it was reasonable for his profile to be simple.

"Hello, Kaito~"

A clear, gentle, childlike voice echoed directly in his mind. Kaito paused, looking at the smiling Ralts, and chuckled. "Hello, little Ralts."

It was the Ralts using its Psychic ability to communicate with him telepathically. Kaito crouched down and gently shook Ralts's hand, finding it soft, similar to the texture of Growlithe's fur.

"Woof?"

Growlithe tilted its head, looking confused. It had never seen this Pokémon before and didn't recall Kaito catching it. However, the loyal dog quickly dismissed the question and sniffed Ralts's scent, accepting it as a new member of their small pack.

Ralts was initially shy, but it quickly sensed Growlithe's overwhelming enthusiasm and its shyness rapidly melted away. Ralts is a sensitive Pokémon; it can detect the emotions of other living beings through the orange horn on its head, easily discerning kindness from malice through their inner thoughts. When it encounters a happy creature, its own mood becomes cheerful.

Watching the harmonious scene between his two Pokémon, Kaito couldn't help but smile. Out of curiosity, he checked Growlithe's information as well.

Name: Growlithe, Nickname: None, Ability: Intimidate, Type: Fire, Level: Lv. 17, Individual Values (IVs): HP (31), Attack (31), Defense (20), Special Attack (31), Special Defense (21), Speed (28), Moves: Leer, Ember, Howl, Bite, Flame Wheel, Helping Hand, Egg Moves: Morning Sun, Raging Fury, Potential: Gym Leader-tier.

Kaito was surprised. He hadn't expected Growlithe to possess Gym Leader-tier potential. Most Pokémon owned by ordinary citizens are of Normal, Good, or Excellent quality. Elite-tier is already quite rare, and Gym Leader-tier is a quality that even some City Gym Leaders only have one or two of.

Kaito also noted that Growlithe had inherited a very rare Egg Move: Raging Fury. This is a powerful Fire-type move with a base power of 120, similar in effect to the Dragon-type move Outrage. For Growlithe to inherit this skill, its lineage must involve a Hisuian Arcanine or a Pokémon like Infernape. Given his memories, he felt the latter was more likely, as Hisuian regional forms had not yet appeared in this world.

Click, click, click... A Kingler, holding its massive pincers high, scuttled past Kaito's feet, glancing at the curious Growlithe. It then trembled and rapidly spat out a large amount of white foam from its mouth. More and more foam was expelled, quickly covering its entire body and making it appear much larger. This is a common defense mechanism for Kingler; when sensing danger or agitation, they frantically spit foam to intimidate opponents. Kingler often inhabit beaches, digging holes in the sand near the water.

Kaito: ...

"Woof?" Growlithe looked disappointed as the Kingler fled. It had just wanted to play.

Seeing this, Growlithe and Ralts began digging in the sand nearby, having a great time exploring.

The fishery was quite large. One could frequently see Kingler strolling about, or two Kingler clashing their pincers against each other's hard shells—like two swordsmen dueling. However, after several rounds, neither crab was much injured. The Kingler watching from the side were so agitated they started spitting foam.

Although the farm was spacious, it mainly contained only Krabby and Kingler, making it feel a bit empty. I can definitely add more Pokémon to raise later, Kaito thought. I am a farm owner now, after all.

With this thought, Kaito reviewed the system tasks again. Tasks were generally divided into two types: trigger-based and fixed. The first task he completed was trigger-based, appearing only under specific circumstances. Fixed tasks remained on the panel, waiting for him to complete them at any time, and some would refresh after completion. Since he had only unlocked the Farmer identity, all the tasks on the panel were related to farming.

The system notified him: "While Growlithe and Ralts were playing, they found a Pearl on the beach. Pearl: Can be sold for money. Market price approximately $50,000."

A Pearl? With a thought, a flawless white pearl appeared in Kaito's hand. Fifty thousand was a sizable amount, especially for unexpected wealth. He hadn't expected his Pokémon's playtime to bring him rewards.
