"Get me everything Alonzo has," she said. "Recorded statements, timelines, call logs. I'll take it to Preston myself."
Harris stood.
"This is risky," he said. "Mateo won't go quietly."
Clara's voice was steady when she replied.
"He already isn't."
As Harris turned to leave, she added quietly,
"If this works, tomorrow changes everything."
Harris paused at the door. "And if it doesn't," he said, "we're still closer than we've ever been."
Harris hesitated again, then added quietly,
"One more thing, Clara. Alonzo warned us to be careful tomorrow. He says Mateo is planning something else around the same time as the shipment. A distraction. Something loud."
Clara didn't ask him to explain because she already knew. Her shoulders tensed, not in fear, but in recognition.
