Chapter 1 - Tavern of the Immortal Path : The Inn with No Guests

In a world where Qi and swords clash without rest, far from the crowds, right at the foot of a mountain rarely traversed by man, stood a simple inn.

The Eternal Inn, with a name so grand, yet not a single guest had ever set foot inside. Forget guests—even wild beasts seemed to avoid this place altogether.

"This place really needs customers. Not a single visitor since the day I arrived in this world."

Li Xian was an ordinary young man who worked as a delivery courier in his previous life, until one day, he lost focus and crashed into an electrical transformer. The last thing he remembered was the shock of electricity and the screams of people around him.

Until he woke up in this inn—and realized he had transmigrated. The only thing he was thankful for was that his name remained the same.

DING!!

"As the owner of the Eternal Inn, you shall become immortal and carve your own path toward eternity—""The path to immortality is not an easy one. Complete the mission immediately!"

Mission: Let Them Rest! Objective: Make one cultivator stay at the Eternal Inn.Current Guests: 0

Li Xian stared blankly at the interface floating in front of him. When he first woke up in this world, this strange screen was the first thing that greeted him.

At first, he was thrilled — finally, a system like those in the novels!Maybe this was his chance to become an immortal, ruler of heaven and earth!

But that excitement quickly vanished the moment he read the first mission.

"Seriously? Who would want to stay in a godforsaken place like this?! And you're telling me to find a cultivator?! I haven't even seen a single human since I landed in this world!"

Li Xian couldn't help but feel frustrated. This system was nothing like what he'd read in novels.

The inn itself was quite simple, only two floors.

The first floor was the main area designed like a bar.A few round tables scattered here and there, some old decorations hanging on the walls, and a few unique ornaments gave the place a cozy, quiet feel — unlike typical bars filled with noise and sweat.

The second floor was simpler still, with only a few guest rooms and a small balcony for relaxation.Near the staircase stood the bartender's counter, which also served as the reception desk.

There sat Li Xian, calmly reading a book in his hand.No customers, no voices — only the sound of wind passing through empty chairs.

"We need guests, right?" Li Xian spoke to himself — or rather, he was trying to negotiate with the system about the mission that had gone unresolved for two months.

"Yes, Host is correct! We need guests to begin the path toward immortality!"

"All right, since we need guests, how about we make some kind of promotion? Maybe let the world know this place even exists?"Li Xian tried to persuade the system with hopeful eyes.

"Young man! You are the owner of the Eternal Inn! People will line up and beg to become your guests! There are no easy tasks, and no easy road to immortality!"

Every time he tried to reason with it, the system would reject him and lecture endlessly instead.

"Damn it! Guests? Begging? Look around! I haven't seen a single mosquito in three days!"Li Xian's veins bulged in frustration.

"Young man! You are the owner of the Eternal Inn! People will line up—"

The system started again, but Li Xian clenched his fist tightly. If only that thing had a physical form, he'd gladly punch it until it changed his mission.

Suddenly, everything went silent — even the system's voice disappeared.

"Eh? Why are you suddenly quiet? Tired already?" Normally, the system would scold him nonstop until he almost looked for a nonexistent mute button on the interface.

"Why aren't you answering?" Li Xian asked again.

"Detected!! Someone injured nearby!!"

The voice of the system rang sharply in his mind. After a brief daze, Li Xian quickly rushed out of the inn.

A few meters away, a man lay unconscious on the ground, his body covered in blood and deep sword wounds.

Li Xian arrived, panting heavily. "Haah… is he dead?"

The system didn't respond.

"Hmm… looks like sword wounds. Could he be a cultivator?"

….

Still no answer.

"What should I do? Should I just kill him and take his stuff?"

"Young man! As the owner of the Eternal Inn and a future immortal, killing a helpless human is not the act of an immortal! You shall—"

"Shut up, damn it!"Li Xian snapped — and for the first time, the system actually fell silent.

In a small, simple room, a man lay on a white bed, wrapped in bandages from head to toe.

"Where am I? Whose room is this? Who treated my wounds?"

At the corner of the room, he spotted a golden pot releasing a steady stream of steam from tiny holes on top.

"And what in the world is that thing?"

"That's called an air freshener," a calm voice answered from the doorway."I made it myself — to make the room smell nice and help with relaxation."

Li Xian entered, carrying a tray of steaming tea."You can call me Xian," he said with a small smile.

"Ah, so you're the one who saved me." The man tried to sit up, cupping his hands respectfully."My name is Ye Han. I owe you my life, Mister Xian!"

"It's nothing," Li Xian replied casually. "No need to feel indebted — just pay for your stay later. The treatment's free."

"You're too kind, Mister Xian…" Ye Han murmured awkwardly.

He had grown up in a sect where only strength mattered — where the strong ruled and the weak were trampled.Mercy was weakness.

But here, in this strange place… for the first time, he felt warmth.
