Chapter 3 - SENT OUT

Amelia's POV

The bell for the end of the exams rang after two hours. It was tough though it's mostly the past questions which I was very familiar with that were asked but it was twisted in a certain way. It was funny seeing some people finish in thirty minutes. It was so obvious that they quit because they looked defeated from their facial expression. I submitted my work not quite long until the bell for the end of the exams rang. I was confident that I got most of the questions if not all. I didn't have anything to do in the city so I hailed a taxi to go back to the train station going to Tequila before it got late. I got to the train station by 2pm, I boarded the train with the remaining money on me and the train got to Tequila by 4pm. I took the bus in the morning. That was why it took three hours to get to the city. I couldn't meet with the morning train despite how early I woke up. Inhaling the harsh breath of Tequila which was a sharp contrast to that of the city, I remembered that I haven't eaten today. The excitement of the exams coupled with the incident that occurred in the morning filled me up that I wasn't hungry. Recalling the incident, I couldn't help but remember that good looking, young man. I was daydreaming about him till I realized that I was in front of Levies'. I saw the Mayor standing angrily in front of the restaurant. I am thinking about the possible reasons why he could be here when he doesn't come to the restaurant regularly. I saw the other girls in the restaurant smirking at me, some were grinning. I was confused, not knowing that they were grinning at my misfortune.

"Good afternoon sir", I greeted him. "What's good about the afternoon and where are you coming from?", he replied. Feeling utterly confused about the situation, I couldn't give him an answer and the next thing I knew was a slap on my face. Then he began to beat me, he kicked and slapped me continually and I lost count of the slaps. I couldn't fight back because I knew how much I needed the job at his wife's place. After he had beaten me to his satisfaction, he called one of the girls, Katherine, who hated me to the bones. I had no idea of what I did to her, she just hates me. On several occasions I have tried to talk to her, to settle the misunderstanding between us but it was insults I got in return. My little worn out belongings had been packed, and she threw it out according to the Mayor's orders. I was devastated, confused and felt wronged as I didn't do anything wrong, I was always on my best behavior.

I mustered all the courage I could and asked him, "Why sir?. I didn't do anything. Why are you chasing me out?". Instantly, I saw the fury in his eyes multiplied, with forcefully controlled rage he said,"You have the effrontery to question me, a slut like you wants to go to school. That place is not for someone like you. You went ahead to disrespect the only son of the Coker Conglomerate, the direct descendant of John Coker. Are you out of your senses?. If not for Luke who told me what you did, I would be in the dark of your atrocity. What if his parents looked into your background and found out you're from Tequila?. You want to implicate me and the whole town?, you want the living condition of Tequila to be worse than it already is?. Before you achieve your aim, I will send your filthy self out of this town". I was flabbergasted by his words.

In confusion I told him,"What do you mean by the only son of the Coker Conglomerate? A guy splashed mud on me, I tried to explain to him about his actions instead he shoved me away. I then avenged myself in order to feel better for the exam I wouldn't be able to do. Then a guy came down from the car obviously the boss and he insulted me even though I tried to explain to him about his worker's actions". Realizing my folly, I exclaimed,"Are you trying to say that the boss who insulted me is the only son of the Coker Conglomerate? Oh my days". I'm done for. I don't regret my actions to the driver but I shouldn't have talked back to the boss, I haven't even seen him before. Then he said to me menacingly, "I give you three days to get your filthy self out of this town or else, you won't like what I would do to you. Also, I knew about my wife's involvement in the exams you took that led to all this shenanigans. She told me herself after I confronted her and I've sent her on a vacation so she could be away from you. Now that you have no one to cling to, get out of this town before you inflict us with your bad luck". I was on the ground crying and begging him but he kicked me one last time before going into the restaurant. Katherine and I were left outside and I was left at her mercy. She gloated and beamed with joy at my misfortune.

Katherine's POV

I'm glad that bitch's true colours are out for the world to see. She acts as if she is the saint that the rest of us are dirty and not to be associated with. She disrespected Vincent, my future husband, she must be joking. She might be looking for his attention by walking where mud will get splashed on her so she could get closer to Vincent. Huh, I heard Vincent insulted her, serves her right. She's such a slut but pretending she's the most innocent person ever. The Mayor has sent her out with her crappy, disgusting trash she calls belongings. With joy I told her, "Who wins in the end, bitch. Glad your true colours were exposed. The whole world can see how much of a slut you are, you cheap whore. Get out of this town, we don't want to get affected by your bad luck. If you want a piece of advice, you can go to your customers who patronize you, slut". This is the best day ever, she looks so miserable. With happiness radiating in my aura, I walked majestically into the restaurant leaving her ass outside as she rightly deserves.

Mayor Vance's POV

I can't believe that bitch did that. Earlier this afternoon, I was in my office when my phone rang. It was Luke calling, feeling surprised because he doesn't call in the daytime as he would be frolicking with his friends. I picked his call and asked him what he wanted. Then he told me about it and how she talked back to Vincent. I wondered what she was doing in the city, I asked Luke and he told me that she was there for the scholarship exams. I was surprised at how she was able to get the forms for the exams, then I remembered that my wife went with me the other day for the mayors' meeting in the city which was unlike her because in her words, she doesn't want to get involved in political affairs. I brushed off the matter thinking that she wanted to monitor me for side affairs not knowing that was the purpose of her interest. I don't know what my wife sees in that filthy girl. I felt betrayed by her, so I went to her restaurant to confront her. She tried to deny it at first but when I threatened to close down her restaurant, she confessed. I told her to travel for a while for a vacation. But the traveling process would take time so I asked one of my guards to stay with her at home till the end of the day. She ought to be out of town by tomorrow. I've always made it known that I don't like her moving with that girl. She doesn't fit someone of our status.

I waited at the restaurant for that girl to come back so that I could personally drive her out. I was notified by one of the staff that she was back and I checked the time, it was fifteen minutes past five. I'm sure she must have hooked up before coming here because she came back quite late. She was wearing decent clothes which was a shocker as her clothes are always battered. It brought out her beauty more. She must have collected that money from her promiscuous business. This made me more mad than I was because I've been eyeing her secretly. Damn, she's beautiful. She greeted me with that angelic voice of hers. "What is good about the afternoon and where are you coming from?", I responded with anger and slight jealousy. She looked confused. I bet she didn't know that the guy she disrespected was Vincent so I told her. She recounted the incident that led to the disrespect and when she finally realized who she disrespected, she gasped in amazement. It was too late and I have to send her to avoid implications even though it means that I won't have to see her pretty face again. I went inside the restaurant after telling her the things I wanted to.
