Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16: BROTHERS II

"I'm not keen on going back there."

"But that's the only place we can find the herb."

"How about we look around? We might find it growing nearby?"

"Do you think I haven't searched enough? We don't have time, if I don't hurry, we might lose dad. Will you take the blame then?"

The argument between Lloyd and Zave carried the weight of desperation. Their voices were sharp, cutting through the heavy silence of the room where their father lay.

Lloyd's jaw tightened, his golden eyes flashing with determination. Zave's shoulders slumped, torn between fear and reluctant acceptance.

In the end, Lloyd made the choice. He turned abruptly, his figure rigid as he strode toward the door. Zave sighed heavily, watching his brother's back disappear. He knew Lloyd was right — the herb was their only chance. It was either risk returning to the pack-lands or watch their father slip away

Alex, standing nearby, saw Zave return alone. His questioning gaze was met with a silent shake of the head.
