Frost Family Mansion
"Thanks for the ride. Are you not going to greet the elders?" Samantha asked, unbuckling her seatbelt.
Jayden parked the car a few meters away from the main gate of Frost Family Mansion.
"No. Do you want them to know that we are together? Besides, I don't want to ruin their mood as early as this morning."
Samantha fell silent for a moment. Jayden didn't have a good relationship with the Frost Family. He was just an illegitimate child of Dominic Frost.
Despite his background, Jayden was a very successful tycoon in Willowshade City. While Daniel was meant to inherit the Frost family business, Jayden never relied on them.
He established his own company and built his own empire. He even tried to acquire the Frost Company before. However, he failed because of Samantha's marriage to Daniel.
The merging of the two companies through the marriage strengthened the Frost Empire.
"Here," Jayden passed a brown envelope to her.
"What is this?" Samantha frowned as she accepted the document.
Jayden smiled knowingly and said, "Your divorce agreement with your husband."
Samantha blinked in surprise. 'So fast. Did he prepare this for me?'
"I can let you borrow Carl Winston to be your attorney. He will definitely win your case, without letting my brother get a penny from you."
Samantha's eyes widened at the mention of Carl Winston. He was one of the most influential attorneys in the country. He never lost any cases.
"Do you know him?" Samantha couldn't believe that Jayden had connections with this young successful attorney.
"Of course, he is my best friend," he replied nonchalantly.
Samantha's jaw dropped upon hearing that.
"Oh, then can you ask him to give me a discount?" She shamelessly said, grinning from ear to ear.
Jayden cocked his eyebrow. "Don't worry. I can ask him to work for you for free. But make sure to compensate me after that."
He moved closer to her, his gaze falling on her red lips.
Samantha swallowed hard at his closeness, her heart pounding against her chest. She could smell his fresh mint cologne.
Without further ado, Samatha opened the door and quickly stepped out of the car to flee. She felt like she might have a heart attack if she stayed by his side any longer.
Bam!
She even heard his husky chuckle upon closing the door. She knew it. Jayden was a great seducer. He was deliberately teasing and tempting her.
He rolled down the car window and said, "Sis-in-law, Call me if you need something."
Samantha just pouted her lips in annoyance. She hated the way Jayden was calling her sister-in-law.
'Damn. Why do I feel like I got entangled with another troublesome guy? Did I make a deal with the wrong man? I can sense that Jayden spells trouble!'
Deep inside, Samantha knew that it was too late to back down. Jayden would never give her any leeway.
When Jayden's car drove away, Samantha strode toward the mansion, gripping the divorce agreement document in her hand. She wondered how she would confront Daniel today. Could she really divorce him?
Samantha was so lost in her thoughts that she failed to notice she had already reached the entrance door of the mansion.
From her current spot, she could hear the lively chatter and laughter in the living room. She stepped into the house only to see the woman she currently hated the most– Amelia Johnson.
Sitting next to Amelia was her mother-in-law, Madam Frost, while in the opposite chair, Daniel was serving them tea. They were happily conversing.
Samantha could only clench her fists as she watched them as though they were a happy family.
Madam Frost was very fond of Amelia because she was the daughter of her best friend. With their past relationship, Amelia could easily come and go in the Frost Family Mansion.
If the Johnson Family hadn't migrated, Daniel and Amelia would have married each other. Madam Frost really wanted Amelia to become her daughter-in-law.
Samatha couldn't hide the pang of envy in her eyes as she watched how Madam Frost interacted with Amelia. She never experienced such fondness from her mother-in-law.
She was about to approach them when Madam Frost suddenly mentioned her. She instinctively paused on her track.
"It's been two years since Daniel married Samantha. However, until now, she can't bear a child. I'm quite disappointed. I'm dying to have my grandchild." The middle-aged woman shook her head, dismay evident in her eyes.
Madam Frost grabbed Amelia's hands, squeezing them gently. "If only I could turn back time, I wish you had been the one to marry my son. Maybe I would have two little grandchildren by now."
Amelia just smiled at her, cheeks blushing as she glanced at Daniel meaningfully.
"Mom! Stop saying that. It's too embarrassing for Amelia," Daniel said, complaining.
Madam Frost arched her eyebrow. "Hmm. I've heard the rumors going around. They say the two of you are having an affair. Well, people might misunderstand your relationship because of your past. But if it were true, I wouldn't mind, especially if Amelia could give me grandchildren." She giggled, making it sound like she was just joking.
On the other hand, Amelia and Daniel fell silent at Madam Frost's last remarks. Then they exchanged meaningful glances with one another.
Amelia just laughed it off while Daniel lowered his gaze, concealing his guilt.
Meanwhile, Samantha clenched her fists tightly as she continued listening to their conversation.
'Is this the reason why Daniel cheated on me? Simply because I couldn't give him a child. Am I the one at fault here?' Samantha's heart constricted in pain, and she felt suffocated.
'I put so much effort into trying to get pregnant– doing physical checkups every month, drinking various kinds of medicine, and taking care of my diet. I even stopped working for the company to stay at home and fulfill my duty as his wife.' She gazed sharply at Daniel, folding her fingers into tight fists.
Samantha made a lot of sacrifices just to fulfill and satisfy Daniel and his parents. However, Madam Frost and Daniel seemed to take those sacrifices for granted, not acknowledging her efforts. And now, she was about to be blamed for her failing marriage and inability to conceive a child.
It was Daniel who began to change after Amelia came back. Samantha could not even remember when was the last time they had sex. Daniel had turned cold and had stopped touching her. He often returned home late.
"Amelia, do you have a boyfriend now?"
Madam Frost's voice snapped Samatha out of her deep thoughts.
"Yes. Auntie. I do have a boyfriend. But I haven't introduced him to my parents yet. Maybe when the right time comes," Amelia promptly responded, taking another glance at Daniel.
Samantha could no longer remain silent, so she stepped forward and made her presence known to the three people in the living room.
"Oh, Honey, you are home!" Daniel immediately stood up to welcome her.
He was going to hug and kiss her, but she stopped him by pressing her palms on his chest, keeping her distance.
Madam Frost just snorted upon seeing her while Amelia put on her fake friendly smile as she greeted Samantha.
"Where did you go last night? You didn't come home," Madam Frost asked in a strict tone.
"Mother, I went out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. However, my husband never showed up because he was busy at the company," Samatha replied, staring at Daniel intently.
Daniel immediately looked away, unable to meet her intense gaze.
"By the way, this is Amelia Johnson. I believe you've met her several times already. Starting tomorrow, she will be working in the company as the new Finance Director," Madam Frost said, informing Samantha.
Samantha narrowed her eyes upon hearing that. "Did you hire her despite knowing the rumors between the two of you?" she asked Daniel with disbelief.
"Yes. She qualified for the position and… those rumors are baseless."
Samantha struggled hard not to slap Daniel in front of Madam Frost and Amelia. 'So this is his way of keeping Amelia by his side. I already know where this is going!'
"Fine! You can keep her," Samantha said, laughing sarcastically. "Now, take this!" She shoved the document into Daniel's hand.
"What is this?" Daniel asked in confusion, holding the document.
Samantha stared into his eyes and grinned. "My resignation as your wife. Daniel, let's divorce!"
