A black-haired teenager soared through the air, humming a half-forgotten tune under his breath. His voice carried faintly through the night breeze.
"Tracing the map that leads to you..." he murmured with a smile, his words lost in the rush of wind as Gotham's skyline stretched below.
Far ahead, the teen spotted movement—a flash of crimson eyes plunging into a manhole.
A demon.Above, Batman glided silently, his cape stretching like the wings of a shadow. He too caught sight of the creature's descent.
The teen swooped lower, landing lightly on the cracked pavement just as the Dark Knight touched down nearby. Before Batman could say a word, a green glow illuminated the alley.
The Green Lantern descended, arms crossed, expression wary."Hey, hey, hey—hold it there, kid," the Lantern called out, his tone firm but casual. "Leave this to the adults. Curfew's over."
The teen barely turned his head. "Name's Lucian," he said flatly. "Not a kid. And I'd suggest you move that hand before I make you regret it."
Lantern frowned, placing a hand on Lucian's shoulder anyway. "Listen, kid, I—"He didn't get to finish.
Lucian's fist slammed into his gut, launching him several yards down the street before he hit the asphalt with a hard thud.
Straightening his coat, Lucian glanced at Batman. "You got something to say too?"Batman didn't respond.
Without a word, he sprang forward and disappeared into the manhole after the demon. Lucian smirked, cracked his knuckles, and followed him in.
A few moments later, a very irritated Green Lantern came flying back down the tunnel."Hey!" he shouted.
Lucian didn't even turn around—he just raised a hand, signaling him to stop, and kept walking. " Mission first, Catfight later "
Lucian uttered before moving ahead.
Lantern exhaled sharply. "Unbelievable," he muttered, floating alongside Batman. "Can you believe that kid?"Batman only shrugged.
They followed the damp tunnel deeper beneath the city. The air was thick with the stench of decay and smoke—signs of the demon's passage.
Lantern broke the silence first. "Why's a demon stomping around Gotham, anyway?"
Batman's voice was low, even. "Witnesses said it was trying to plant some kind of bomb downtown. When the GCPD confronted it, it breathed fire at them."
"Fire's no problem for me," Lantern said with a grin, striking an exaggerated pose midair. "The Green Lantern can do anything."
"Except shut up, apparently," said Batman and Lucian in perfect unison. They exchanged a brief, almost amused glance.
Lantern scoffed. "Someone forget his True Blood tonight?"Batman's eyes flicked toward him. "I'm not a vampire."
Lucian rolled his eyes. "Seriously?" his look seemed to say.
Lantern wasn't done. "Seriously ? I thought with all the darkness and the vanishing" " then what like ? super strength?"Lucian shook his head smiling .
"No."Batman answers.
"What about flying?" Lantern pressed."In a plane," Batman replied dryly.
Lucian chuckled quietly, resting a hand on Lantern's shoulder. "Just… stop," he muttered.Lantern blinked. "Wait, don't tell me—you're just some guy in a bat costume, right?"
Batman turned slightly, allowing a small, knowing smirk."Are you kidding me?"
Lantern threw his hands up. "I get the kid; sure, he packs a punch. But you? What's the deal—nobody asked you to prom so now you dress like a bat and spend nights prowling hanging out in your parents basement?"There was a long silence.
Then Batman reached into his belt and held up a glowing green ring."What's this do?" he asked, inspecting it.
Green lantern's suit fades showing an airforce pilots uniform underneath.
"Hey! Don't—" Lantern began."No buttons," Batman murmured, turning the ring over.
"I'm guessing it works off concentration." He handed it back and walked past.Lantern gaped. "How did you even—?!"
Batman looked over his shoulder, a faint grin ghosting his lips. "You weren't concentrating."
