Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Skyblock Survival

"The Cube Civilization has opened!"

"What? It's a large-scale civilization this time?"

"You mean all that stuff we saw before was just a small-scale civilization!"

"Just a small-scale one had the God of Parkour and those Colossal Titans. What will a large-scale one be like!"

"It's clearly marked as a 'massive increase.' You can imagine the difficulty!"

"Isn't that a no-win situation?"

Hearing "large-scale civilization," the citizens of Jiuzhou Nation instantly erupted.

"Zombies, Creepers, and Skeletons alone were troublesome enough. Will other monsters appear in a large-scale civilization now?"

Fries's brow furrowed, his expression ugly.

"How can it be a large-scale civilization? Is it that even the heavens can't stand it and want us to perish?"

They had struggled immensely to clear the previous Giant Civilization and Parkour Civilization, to say nothing of the doubled difficulty now.

He originally had a 60% confidence in passing, but now Fries only had 30%!

And that was only if his luck was extremely good.

Just as others were saying, this was a no-win situation!

Regardless of what Fries thought, the arena's voice continued.

[Selection complete. Announcing the list now!]

[Liberty Nation: Mark, Jett.]

[Buda Dian: Lorde.]

[...]

[Samurai Nation: Okamura, Yamamoto.]

[Great Stick Nation: Sam chang.]

[...]

The players and the number of players were chosen randomly. One by one, the names appeared.

Fries let out a long breath, as if resigning himself to his fate.

"Director kay, I'm going!"

The item card had been used. In Jiuzhou, only he could bear this heavy responsibility.

He closed his eyes and waited quietly. One minute later.

Opening his eyes again, Fries found he was still in the same place, unchanged.

"Fries, it seems you weren't selected this time," Director kay said, his expression puzzled.

Looking up, Fries indeed saw the announced list.

[Jiuzhou: Lexon.]

It wasn't him, but someone else!

"Lexon? How is that possible?"

'I clearly used the item card, so why was someone else chosen?'

'Even if I wasn't chosen, shouldn't it have been one of the other people who has participated in the game?'

Lexon... he had never even heard this name!

After a brief shock, Fries's expression changed drastically.

"Could it be that someone else also used an item, and the effects canceled out?"

If someone else was randomly chosen, they definitely wouldn't understand the game's content without special training.

He turned his head to look outside, but it was too late.

A white light flashed. The chosen person had already been transported into the Cube Civilization.

"This is bad!"

...

"Great!"

Arriving in a blank white area, Lexon smiled.

He had been apprehensive before the list was confirmed, but thankfully, Fries's item had indeed worked.

He had been successfully chosen for the game.

[Welcome to the Block Civilization!]

[After entering the civilization, every player will randomly possess their own block.]

[Based on size, block levels are divided into: Micro-Block, Small-Block, Medium-Block, and Large-Block.]

[Each block is attached to a higher-level block.]

[Please strive to survive, and at the same time, strengthen your own block!]

The Block Civilization was where Lexon was headed.

Like other civilizations, one needed at least a Medium-Block to have a chance to leave.

The difference was, because this was a large-scale civilization, one couldn't just coast and run out the clock to get through it.

After the rules were explained, several different locations appeared before Lexon's eyes.

[You are number sixteen. Please wait for the players ahead of you to choose their block!]

[Block #1: Dirt House Cluster.]

[Block #2: Cobblestone Field.]

[Block #3: Mushroom Island.]

[...]

One small island after another was presented. Contestants needed to choose from the dozens of areas.

He glanced at them briefly. The overall differences weren't huge. Each island only had one or two, or perhaps two or three, types of resources.

When these islands were shown on the screen, the audience outside gasped in shock.

"Such a difficult start?!"

"Holy crap, that one island is all stone! Won't you just die instantly if you go there?"

"There's not even any food. I can't imagine how to survive!"

"What's even scarier is that you can't just coast to get a chance to leave this time!"

"Heavens, is this the difficulty of a large-scale civilization!"

"Can the great god Fries make it back alive... wait, Lexon?"

"The great god Fries clearly used an item. Who is this guy?"

Compared to the standard village starts in previous civilizations, this one was already incredibly difficult.

And when the audience looked up, they were shocked to discover the contestant wasn't Fries.

Could it be... that someone else understands the game's content even better than Fries?

"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

"The rules of the Cube Civilization are so bizarre, how could anyone figure them out easily?"

"Not necessarily. If he picks a good starting location, there's still hope!"

"Right, he must pick Food Mountain! It's all food, definitely the best starting spot to develop!"

"Damn, it got snatched. That Horse Island is good too. Fewer blocks, but it has armor and warhorses!"

"That got picked too? Then the Mushroom Island..."

"Forget it. Number sixteen is so far back. By the time it's Lexon's turn, all the good spots will be taken!"

"Such bad luck. In this situation, even the great god Fries would have a hard time clearing it, right?"

"You should say, it's lucky the great god Fries *didn't* go. I suspect this civilization left no path to survival at all. Going means certain death!"

"It's just a pity for this Lexon. He looks so young. Sigh."

"I don't even want to imagine what kind of torture he'll face!"

With a sigh, the bullet comments collectively went silent.

There was already a huge gap between them and other countries, and now the start was this difficult. It made no difference whether it was Fries or Lexon.

They could already imagine the torturous scenes that would unfold in the coming days!

'An island start, huh.'

Lexon scrutinized one block after another.

It was indeed more difficult than standard survival, but a qualified MC player would never have *only* played the vanilla version.

The so-called increased difficulty just meant adding mods.

Having beaten most of the mods on the market, this small difference had no impact on him.

After a few rounds of refreshing, by the time it was Lexon's turn, over a dozen spots had already been chosen.

Although none could compare to a village start, there were still differences between the islands. Players would definitely choose places with more resources.

'Mushroom Island? No. Plenty of food, but not a single key resource.'

'The Stone Field has iron ore, which looks good, but the quantity is too small. Not suitable for starting development.'

'Food Mountain? All food? Isn't this a complete joke of a start? Someone actually picked this?'

Looking closely, Lexon had to laugh.

Most places were a bit difficult to start on, but not impossible to survive. But places like Food Mountain and Horse Island...

'Not even wood or stone. A complete dead end!'

And people actually thought these were good spots and fought to choose them?

Meanwhile, the place he had seen earlier, the one he had already identified in his mind as an excellent starting spot, remained completely untouched.

"I choose Block #66!"

Following his selection, a white light enveloped him, and the block world gradually appeared before Lexon's eyes.

Beneath his feet were lush green grass blocks. Stepping on them felt soft and comfortable, no different from his memories.

Looking around, there was a single tree next to Lexon, and nothing else.

The entire space was only a few narrow blocks. Looking down revealed an endless void.

[Selection complete!]

[Your block is #66.]
