Chapter 4 - System

After sending the boy to another world, the man who called himself the Traveler was now staring at the same spot where the boy had stood just a few minutes ago.

"I wish we meet again… then I'll show you what I really am, ha ha ha!" he laughed loudly. "He thinks I'm a god, haa aahaaa what a fool!"

"I still don't know why I had to act when we simply fabricated his memory. Well, what goes on in HIS head, only HE knows," he said after finally controlling his laughter.

And than his laughter stop and face take serious look.

"But why can't he remember his name? Even when I searched through his mind, I didn't find anyone calling his name my Skills will not fail me. Did some other entity interfere with our work?" he muttered, deep in thought.

"No, that's not possible… then can his name be sealed?"

" I can ask him" say this he make the hand sigh and than he disappeared like he was not there from the start.

??? POV

The sound of wind blowing and birds calling echoed around me. Slowly, I began to feel my body again. I opened my eyes—then quickly shut them against the light. After a moment, I tried again, blinking until my vision adjusted.

What I saw were herbs, shrubs, and tall trees stretching across my view. I was lying on the ground.

"What the hell? I don't even get a room? I open my eyes in a forest? I really look like some broke hero from a third-rate novel," I said in an annoyed voice, scanning my surroundings.

"Oh, at least I'm wearing some decent clothes." A white shirt, black trousers, and old brown shoes. As I helped myself up, I noticed a sword hanging at my waist. "Wow, I have a sword… but isn't it a bit long? It looks like Jon Snow's sword—it just doesn't have the bear on it."

I examined the sword and suddenly remembered the gift I got from the Traveler.

"So I'm ready, I'm ready… STATUS!" I shouted loudly.

A few seconds passed. Nothing happened.

I said it again.

Still nothing.

I even tried all the words used in other novels for 'system,' but still—nothing happened.

Ding!

What?

In front of me appeared a blue-black screen, with words glowing on it.

I stood there stunned for a second, reading everything carefully. The first thing I noticed was my name—Tylar Draven.

So, that's the name of this body.

"I don't remember my old world name…" I said sadly, realizing the name given by my parents was now gone from my memory.

"Well, it's not a bad name. But the only problem is, it's not a noble name. A noble name usually has a middle name. Judging by my clothes and this name, I'm obviously a commoner."

I looked over my stats again—rank F. I was as good as dead, bro.

"How the hell am I supposed to win a tournament when all my stats are trash? Strength—garbage. Agility—average. Intelligence—wow, so the system thinks I'm dumb as hell? What nonsense is this?" I cursed at my stats before moving on.

"My charm is E… well, from what I know, charm isn't about how good you look. It's about the power to influence, command, or inspire others through presence, speech, and confidence. It's something like that," I said, searching for something to see my reflection. "And even if not, I don't care how bad I look. Even in my previous life, I wasn't handsome."

Then came Affinity. "That means, in this world of Lumariya, every being has some connection to an element—fire, water, wind, light, etc. High affinity means you can wield that element more easily, more powerfully, and more creatively. It determines what kind of mana, skills, and powers come naturally to you—and how effectively you can use or evolve them." I knew that much from reading books where heroes used time or space magic.

Skills… I thought. "I don't have any for now, and my class is also not revealed. Having skills comes in handy—they're a manifestation of your abilities, physical, magical, mental, or spiritual, powered by your stats and affinity."

I already knew what quests were, so I didn't worry about that. But I knew I was at a total disadvantage.

"I can't just say, 'I won't give up' and start training. First, I have to get out of this forest and find people. I'm not even sure if the people I meet will speak the same language as me…" I was still thinking about what to do next when that familiar sound returned.

Ding!

The same blue screen appeared in front of me again.

[System has now fully stabilized with the host.]

[The host can now ask questions to the system.]

I read the message and asked, "So, I have a talking system, nice. Then tell me—where am I right now?"

[This is Woodwall Forest,] the system replied, then went silent.

"…It surely doesn't help much. Okay, I understand—you're one of those systems that only answer exactly what's asked, nothing more, nothing less," I said, annoyed. "Even the system is as messed up as my luck, oh my lord."

"Okay then, which empire is this?" I asked, hoping for a real answer.

[This is the Empire of Aurelia,] said the system.

"So this is the Light Goddess's Empire—that's good! The Academy is also in this country, so I don't have to wander across all fifteen continents," I said with relief.

Yes, the world of Lumariya has fifteen continents, and they aren't the size of Australia like in my old world—they're as big as Asia, maybe even bigger. The whole world is the size of Jupiter. I know it sounds crazy, but it's real.

"System! Give me the location of Austin Academy!" I asked, knowing how huge this continent was.

But the system didn't reply.

I tried a different question. "Give me the location of the Holy Sword and tell me about my affinity."

The reply came:

[The host hasn't reached the requirement to unlock affinity.]

It only answered half my question.

"Now I understand—it only replies…"

Creak!

I stopped mid-sentence as the sound of a dry branch breaking echoed nearby. I turned toward the direction of the noise.

Something was coming—slowly, deliberately, as if it already knew I couldn't run.

My legs went numb with fear.

I wanted to run, but I knew it was useless. Fighting? That was even worse. I had never held a weapon or practiced any martial arts. Sure, I knew a few basic street-fighting moves, but that wouldn't help me now.

Because I was facing a bear—and not just any bear. This one was huge, way bigger than a grizzly.

I was dead—for the second time.

Ding!

What?! Now?!

The screen appeared again.

[Side Quest: Defeat the Forest Bear.]

[Reward: Affinity Unlock]

[Failure: Lifetime Affinity Loss]

Are. You. Serious. Right. Now. Bro.
