Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Hunter

Hunter.

That was how the mysterious Reincarnation Paradise had called Ender from the very beginning.

The title felt strange—he hadn't even signed the so-called contract yet.

"What does this title 'Hunter' mean?"

His question seemed to trigger a strong response from Reincarnation Paradise.

[After signing the contract, normal individuals become Contractors. They complete missions for the Paradise and receive rewards.]

['Hunters' are special Contractors with unique talents more suited for combat.]

[While Hunters carry out normal missions, they are also given Hunt Missions—to eliminate 'abnormal' Contractors.]

[Inquiry limit reached. The Paradise will no longer answer your questions. Please sign the contract or await death.]

The glowing text vanished, and darkness filled the space.

A sheet of aged parchment floated out of the void, hanging in the air before him.

Ender pushed himself to his feet and stepped closer.

The parchment was covered in strange symbols, with a blank space near the bottom.

[Do you wish to sign the contract?]

He could sense that signing it would change his entire life.

He had too many things left undone. Even if the path ahead was a bottomless abyss, he had no choice but to jump.

"I… agree."

The moment he spoke, his hand moved on its own, pressing his thumb against the blank spot.

A sharp pain pricked his fingertip, and a drop of bright red blood spread across the parchment. The whole sheet turned faintly crimson, carrying a metallic scent of blood.

[Contract established. Beginning injury repair.]

A soft green glow surrounded him, seeping into his body. Within seconds, his wounds completely healed.

[Healing complete. Forcing talent awakening.]

Before he could even breathe in relief, unbearable pain surged through every part of his body.

The pain came so suddenly that the veins across his body bulged violently.

But Ender's endurance was beyond ordinary—he only grunted once and dropped to one knee.

As quickly as it came, the agony faded. He felt something inside him awaken—something that had always been there, just unnoticed.

[To better display the Hunter's overall strength, Partial Data Mode activated.]

[Warning: Partial Data Mode only assists combat. Damage to vital organs such as the heart or brain will still result in death. Proceed with caution in all 'derived worlds.']

[Hunter's exclusive trial initiated. Failure will result in the loss of Hunter status. Death during mission equals true death.]

[Rule of the Paradise: Everything comes at an equal price.]

Before he could finish reading, darkness engulfed his vision.

[Transmission starting…]

When Ender opened his eyes again, he found himself inside a dilapidated room.

It was barely ten square meters, with a half-collapsed roof letting sunlight pour in.

Cobwebs thick with dust covered the corners. The windows and doors were gone, leaving only piles of garbage spilling inside.

The place seemed buried under a mountain of trash—the roof was the only exit.

A foul stench filled the air. Just as he was about to leave, a burning pain spread along his arm.

A black sword-shaped tattoo appeared on his forearm.

The familiar blue text returned—but this time, it didn't float in the air. It appeared directly in his vision, fixed in place no matter where he looked, as if etched into his eyes.

[Entered World: One Piece]

[World Difficulty: LV.6—Nightmare (Hunter Trial Difficulty)]

[World's Source: 0% (Increases by exploring or interacting with characters; final rewards depend on this rate and mission difficulty)]

[World Overview: The sea, freedom, pirates, marines, and the World Government.]

[Main Mission: Assassinate the King of Goa Kingdom.]

[Side Missions: None.]

[Warning: Do not speak of the Paradise in this world. Violation will result in immediate execution.]

[Note: This is a high-level derived world. Do not leave the Goa Kingdom area or the difficulty will greatly increase.]

[Bonus: As a first-time entrant, you automatically understand this world's language for three natural days.]

[World—Start!]

The words faded, and Ender began piecing together what he knew.

First, he had entered a mysterious place—Reincarnation Paradise. Its true goal was unknown, but his was clear: to gain strength. Only strength could fuel his revenge.

And now, somehow, he was in the world of One Piece.

He wasn't obsessed with anime, but he had watched a few series to relax. He knew enough to understand how dangerous this world was.

Here, powerful individuals could destroy islands or wipe out entire nations single-handedly.

Though skilled in combat and killing techniques, Ender was still human—an ordinary man thrown into a world of monsters.

The word Nightmare in the mission description said it all.

And his task—assassinate the King of Goa Kingdom—offered no further clue.

As he frowned in thought, a stream of information pulsed from the black sword tattoo on his arm.

He could activate it with his mind. This "Mark" was important—it had multiple functions.

He focused, and text appeared before him:

Status

Missions

Inventory

Skills

Equipment

Other functions locked due to low rank.

For now, only the first two mattered.

He needed to know the mission details. From what he'd seen so far, failure probably meant death—literal death, not demotion.

Opening the mission tab, he read the specifics:

[Main Mission: Assassinate the King of Goa Kingdom]

Difficulty: LV.3

Description: The Goa Kingdom lies in the East Blue, ruling nearby towns and villages, including Windmill Village and Mt. Colubo.

Objective: Kill King Phillips Herbert of Goa Kingdom by any means. The target rarely leaves the royal palace—assassination difficulty high.

Time Limit: 72 hours.

Reward: Full activation of Hunter privileges.

Now he understood both his target and his location.

No wonder the place reeked of trash—he must be in the Gray Terminal, the massive garbage dump outside the Goa Kingdom's capital.

He remembered this place from the original story—the dump that was later burned when the Celestial Dragons arrived.

Monkey D. Luffy and his brothers Ace and Sabo had grown up nearby, in Mt. Colubo, home to a band of mountain bandits.

He didn't know what era this was—if those three were still children or had already gone to sea.

The capital of Goa Kingdom was close by, right next to this mountain of trash.

All this waste likely came from there.

Realizing this, Ender decided not to leave immediately. The Gray Terminal was crawling with vagrants and scavengers—dangerous people. It was better to observe first.

Closing the mission screen, he opened his status.
