Chapter 118 - Enhancement

To meet the vampires' need for fresh blood, Chen Mo had built a livestock farm dedicated to supplying the knights and the workshop.

Of course, vampires did not require blood as frequently as humans needed food.

As long as they weren't injured, they could go several days without drinking any blood at all.

But once wounded, their craving for blood became urgent.

Sufficient blood allowed vampires to recover with astonishing speed, their injuries healing almost instantly.

Fresh blood had just been delivered to the castle, and it didn't take long for Amelia to return to the study carrying a cup filled with bright red blood.

Chen Mo waved his hand, signaling her to hand the blood to Andrew.

Taking the glass from Amelia, Andrew looked at Chen Mo with a puzzled expression.

"Taste it. See how it is."

Andrew glanced at the blood in the glass, then—without thinking too much—took a small sip.

The moment the blood entered his mouth, Andrew's expression twisted.

A heartbeat later, he abruptly spat it out.

"How is it?"

Chen Mo's eyes lit up as he eagerly asked.

"It's disgusting. It reeks—an overpowering stench. Is this blood not fresh?"

Andrew turned toward Amelia, uncertain.

Amelia looked confused as well.

Impossible.

This batch had just been collected—fresh from the livestock.

She trusted the farm workers; they wouldn't dare send old blood to the castle.

Stepping forward, Amelia took the glass from Andrew, sniffed it first—nothing unusual—then drank a small sip.

Her expression relaxed with enjoyment as she swallowed.

"It's very fresh. There's nothing wrong with it. What's wrong with you?"

Andrew did not answer her.

Instead, he turned to Chen Mo.

"My lord, this is…?"

"It seems your flaw has been completely corrected. You should now be able to enjoy normal food again, just like before."

As vampires, their only sustenance had been blood.

All the delicious foods they once loved became revolting to them.

Even if they forced themselves to eat, they would inevitably vomit it all out.

Chen Mo suspected this was because, after transformation, their sense of smell, taste, neural responses, and digestive systems had all fundamentally changed.

Like sheep eating grass and wolves eating meat, each species has its own needs.

Carnivores cannot digest fibrous plants; similarly, vampires could no longer consume anything but blood.

What was foul and metallic-smelling to humans was delicious and fragrant to vampires.

But compared to monotonous blood, regaining the ability to enjoy human food made Andrew genuinely happy.

It made him feel human again—not a blood-drinking monster.

"Any other changes?"

Chen Mo's question interrupted Andrew's daydreaming.

Andrew concentrated on sensing his body, then drew his sword and swung it a few times—

nothing unusual.

Sheathing his blade, Andrew said solemnly, "My lord, I feel no other changes."

Chen Mo nodded.

So, a single drop of Perfect Blood only corrected the flaws of vampirism—it did not enhance strength.

Amelia, confused by their exchange, looked blankly between the two.

Chen Mo smiled faintly.

Instead of explaining, he picked up a test tube filled with Alexander Corvinus's blood and handed it to Andrew.

"Drink all of it."

This time, Andrew hesitated slightly before finally drinking the entire tube.

Immediately, he felt something dramatic shifting inside him.

"My lord, my body… something's changing!"

Without waiting for Chen Mo to ask, he clenched and relaxed his fists repeatedly, sensing the transformation.

Unsure, he unsheathed his sword again to test it.

Before he could begin, Amelia finally couldn't hold back.

With a sharp shing, she drew her own sword, strode forward, and positioned herself beside Andrew.

"Let me see for myself what's changed."

She turned to Chen Mo, awaiting his permission.

The scene made Chen Mo chuckle, recalling how Amelia once tried to fight him upon hearing he'd come to ask for her hand—furious and ready to lead her knights against him.

Clearly, the proud and straightforward Amelia was irritated by the suspense and needed someone to take it out on—and poor Andrew was right beside her.

Chen Mo glanced at the bewildered Andrew and nodded lightly.

Permission granted.

Amelia shot Andrew a fierce glare, then let out a sharp cry as she lunged forward.

Andrew hurried to block.

Amelia held nothing back, attacking with full force—her sword flashing again and again.

They clashed in the spacious study.

Ordinarily, Andrew was slightly stronger than Amelia…

Yet he always lost.

Because he never dared fight her seriously, always pulling back to avoid hurting her.

This time was no different—Andrew defended carefully.

But after just a few moves, both of them realized something was different.

Even holding back, Andrew's strength and speed were overwhelming.

Each clash of blades sent powerful shockwaves through Amelia's arms.

Her hands tingled from the impact.

Had Andrew not withdrawn his force in time, her sword might have been knocked flying.

After only a short exchange, they both stopped.

Amelia stared at Andrew in astonishment.

How had his strength increased so drastically?

Her mind worked quickly.

She immediately connected it to the earlier conversation… and the blood Andrew had just consumed.

"That blood was…?"

Andrew did not answer.

He looked to Chen Mo.

Even if his beloved asked, he wouldn't reveal anything without Chen Mo's permission.

Amelia realized this as well and turned her gaze to Chen Mo, slightly anxious about whether she was allowed to know.

Chen Mo had no reason to hide anything from his loyal subordinates.

He explained Alexander Corvinus's identity and the secret of the Perfect Blood.

He had watched their sparring closely.

Even though Andrew had held back, Chen Mo had accurately gauged his new strength.

After consuming the full test tube, Andrew's physical power—already over three times that of a human—had risen to five times the human limit.

Comparable to a super soldier strengthened by enhanced serum—on par with Captain Steve Rogers.

Wanting to test the upper limit, Chen Mo had Andrew drink another tube.

This time, aside from increased energy and intense heat coursing through his body, Andrew experienced no further improvement.

It was the limit.

Further intake wouldn't help—and might even cause his body to burst under the strain.

With the basic experiment complete, Chen Mo summoned Viktor as well.

These three—Andrew, Viktor, and Amelia—were his strongest and most loyal knights.

Standing before him, they watched as Chen Mo retrieved two more test tubes of crimson blood.

Under Amelia's excitement and Viktor's confusion, Chen Mo handed each of them a tube.

"Andrew, explain it to them."

After Andrew finished recounting Alexander Corvinus's origins and the effects of the Perfect Blood, Chen Mo gestured for the two to drink.

Soon, Viktor and Amelia absorbed the Perfect Blood.

Their bodies strengthened, breaking through to match Andrew—five times the physical capabilities of a normal human.

And due to vampiric traits, they were even faster.

Chen Mo disclosed the secret of the Perfect Blood only to these three.

He had no intention of spreading it further.

Not because he doubted the loyalty of the knights—

Their devotion had been proven through years of war.

He feared not betrayal from them…

…but ambition from unknown people in the future.

The more people who knew a secret, the easier it was for problems to arise.

"Now, go stand outside the door. Without my permission, do not let anyone enter."

The effects of the Perfect Blood had been confirmed.

Next—

it was his turn.
