At 10 PM, Leon left the Grand Bleu Bar, preparing to go home!
Catherine had called today, very happy and excited, telling him that she had received the admission letter from the University of British Columbia — Faculty of Law (UBC Law), and wanted Leon to hurry back to celebrate!
So Leon prepared to go back early, but as he walked out of the bar, in a car directly opposite, two men were comparing a photo of Leon!
"Is that him?"
"Should be correct, the newly promoted captain of Red Maple Gang (Branch V), Leon!"
"Get out of the car!"
With that, two men in black jackets opened the car doors and slowly followed in the direction Leon had left.
At this time, there were still many people on the street, and the two assassins planned to find a less crowded place to act.
But what they didn't know was that Leon used to be a scout, and after only a few steps, he spotted the two of them.
"Two targets, around thirty years old, carrying guns!" Leon observed secretly.
"These must be the assassins Tom Barrett hired. They're quite fast!"
He had just heard the news from Ricky, and he didn't expect Tom Barrett's assassins to show up so soon.
It seems he's quite eager for me to die!
In an instant, Leon thought of many things. He silently left the street and walked into a secluded, dimly lit alley.
"Go, follow him!"
The two assassins quickly followed. The alley had few people and dim lights, making it the perfect place to act.
They reached into their pockets and secretly disengaged the safety on their weapons.
But what they didn't expect was that the moment they entered the alley, a whooshing sound suddenly came.
In the darkness, Leon appeared less than a metre away from them, holding a dagger in his hand.
The two men's expressions changed drastically, and they were about to pull out their pistols and fire.
But Leon was faster. Like a ghost, he directly moved forward, his dagger slashing towards one man's wrist.
"Crack!"
After a crisp sound of bone being severed, the man's wrist snapped, and his palm, along with the pistol, fell to the ground.
Immediately after, a tragic scream rang out.
"Ah!"
After severing one man's wrist, Leon didn't give the other man a chance to shoot, his movements completely uninterrupted.
With a swift turn, the dagger sliced open the fragile neck, the carotid artery ruptured, and blood gushed out like a spring.
The alley was so small, the lighting dim, and the space confined. In this terrain, a pistol was truly no more effective than a dagger.
In just few seconds, the two assassins were one dead and one wounded.
The assassin whose wrist had been severed lay on the ground, screaming repeatedly, his face pale, his eyes filled with terror.
"Ah ~ help me ~"
He pressed his hand tightly against the main artery in his elbow, trying everything to stay alive longer.
In his opinion, Leon was simply not human; how could a normal person take down two people in an instant?
He didn't even get a chance to fire a shot!
"Don't kill me, I'll tell you everything! Tom Barrett made us do it! Please spare my life!"
The assassin struggled to his feet, knelt on the ground, and pleaded for mercy repeatedly.
But with things having reached this point, how could Leon let him go?
He had personally witnessed him killing people; was he going to let him be a star witness for the police?
"I don't need you to tell me; I already know Tom Barrett was behind it!"
Leon said in a low voice, approaching the man step by step.
"I curse you, you son of a bitch—you'll never sleep easy again!"
Seeing that Leon had no intention of letting him go, the man became even more panicked, frantically scrambling to his feet and rushing towards the alley exit.
But a leather shoe behind him stomped down, pinning him back to the ground.
"Don't be nervous, take a deep breath, relax slowly. I'll be quick!"
"Tom Barrett will also be joining you soon!"
Leon whispered like a demon, then grabbed his hair, pulled it back, and slashed the dagger fiercely across his neck.
The screams immediately stopped, and the corpse gurgled with blood.
Silence returned to the alley, with only Leon's figure standing quietly under the dim light.
Hearing the screams, many people in the residential buildings on both sides secretly peeked out from their windows, but no one dared to make a sound.
In Vancouver, people died from vendettas almost every day, and they were quite accustomed to such incidents.
Out of fear of retaliation, no one wanted to invite trouble; at most, they would just call the police.
After killing the two men, Leon picked up their pistols; the magazines were already full.
Each man also had a spare magazine, and each magazine contained seven rounds of ammunition.
These were Leon's spoils of war: two Colt .45 pistols and 28 rounds of ammunition.
It was perfect timing; Leon currently needed firearms for self-defense!
After putting away the two pistols, Leon slipped back into the Grand Bleu and passed a folded note to a man waiting near the rear exit — one of the underground's clean-up fixers, the kind who made problems disappear before dawn. The man read the note without a word and nodded.
After that Leon headed straight to the staff washroom took a shower, washed off the smell of blood, and then took a taxi home.
As soon as he entered the door, before he could even sit down, a soft body directly pounced on him, wrapping her arms around his neck and hanging onto him.
At this moment, Catherine hadn't noticed anything amiss, nor would she have imagined that just a moment ago, two lives had ended at Leon's hands.
Her mind was filled with the news of her admission to UBC Law. She was so excited that she couldn't control herself, desperately needing to share it with Leon.
"Why are you back so late? I've been waiting for you for a long time!"
Catherine pouted playfully, her bright, watery eyes looking at Leon.
"Didn't I come back? Just now ~"
However, before Leon could finish his sentence, his mouth was sealed.
Catherine didn't want to hear his explanation; she wanted to see his actions.
