Ruby's POV
"Get this woman off my aircraft right now," Stanley barked, shooting to his feet with murder in his eyes.
I met his glare without flinching.
"Ruby is my friend. Why are you being such a complete jerk to her?" Kate fired back. "Did you two work together at Zenith or something?"
"No," we both snapped in perfect unison.
Of course we had a history. We had even been lovers once.
The only person oblivious to that fact was Kate.
I could sense that neither of us was willing to enlighten her.
Stanley wanted his messy romantic history buried, and I simply wanted to avoid unnecessary complications. She was already suspicious about what might be happening between her brother and me. The last thing I needed was for her to discover I had also been intimate with her husband.
"Kate, I assumed this was meant to be an intimate getaway. Why did you invite someone who has nothing to do with us?" Stanley attempted to soften his tone, but his words still sounded harsh.
