"What truth? I have no idea what you mean!" Stanley yelled, writhing under the crushing weight of Elias's boot.
Elias's laugh was arctic cold. He pressed down harder, adding his full weight to the foot planted on Stanley's chest.
The sound of ribs cracking split the night air. Bone splintered.
Stanley's scream tore through his throat as crimson leaked from his mouth.
"You were involved in what happened today. And you met with someone tonight. Tell me who, right now. Because I'm going to find out either way."
Blood filled Stanley's mouth as he coughed violently. "It wasn't me... I swear... I would never harm Ruby..."
Elias seized his shirt collar and yanked him upright, then drove him back against the car with brutal force.
Stanley gasped for air, staring up at Elias's face, twisted with pure rage.
