Chapter 16 - Symon: Stay away from him.

When the surveillance footage finished playing, Miyabi Nagumo glanced at the crowd below and said calmly, "Based on the surveillance footage and the reports, I will first offer the following inference: the library bullying incident, which was the cause of this event, did indeed occur."

At this point, Nagumo ignored the crowd's reaction, his gaze falling upon Hiyori Shiina. After looking her up and down, his eyes lit up, and he asked in a gentle tone:

"Class C's claim mentions that Student Shiina spent a large amount of Private Points on self-defense items after the incident. Is this directly related to what happened?"

After a moment's hesitation, Hiyori nodded, took a stun gun she carried with her from her pocket, and said in a soft voice:

"After leaving the library, I went to the shopping mall and bought this. It cost 80,000 points. It took less than half an hour; the school should be able to verify this."

As she spoke, Hiyori's fingertip pressed the button.

ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!—The sound of electric arcs crackling!

Blue arcs of electricity burst from the prongs, and the dazzling sparks made everyone in the council room who looked over swallow hard.

Miyabi Nagumo struggled to maintain his smile, fighting back the cold sweat beading on his forehead as he raised a hand to stop her. "Alright, put that away. Class D, do you have anything to say on this matter?"

"I do!"

Suzune Horikita stood up and, after composing her thoughts, said coldly, "I had no intention of bullying her. Ayanokōji was also with me for other reasons. I don't believe I should be held responsible for her actions."

"I'm sorry, but your protest is invalid."

Miyabi Nagumo pointed at the monitor and reminded her with a hint of resignation, "Your behavior shows a clear tendency towards bullying. Even though you were stopped by Ryūen, the bullying still occurred. That is an objective fact."

"You cannot deny that your actions directly caused her to spend a large number of points on a self-defense item. There is a clear and direct causal relationship here. Therefore, you must take responsibility and provide compensation. Do you understand?"

"..."

Suzune Horikita fell silent, turning to look at Ayanokōji beside her, only to see him raising his hand.

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji spoke calmly, "I personally apologize that Student Shiina was frightened. However, I do not admit to the claim of bullying. Student Horikita is not good with words, and I was merely accompanying her at the time. I apologize for the misunderstanding this may have caused, and I am willing to offer compensation."

"!!!"

Suzune Horikita's pupils contracted. She couldn't comprehend Ayanokōji's sudden betrayal. Manabu Horikita, however, gave him a surprised glance, instantly understanding Ayanokōji's intentions.

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji offered no explanation, simply looking calmly at Ryūen, awaiting his response.

From the Class C side, Ryūen sneered and said, "800,000 points. Ten times the compensation. That's not excessive, is it?"

Ayanokōji nodded. "Acceptable."

Seeing that both sides had reached an agreement on the library incident, Miyabi Nagumo and Manabu Horikita exchanged a look, made a timely judgment, and prepared to move on to the next topic.

Meanwhile, inside Hiyori's body, Symon suddenly spoke, "Hiyori, keep an eye on that Ayanokōji. Something's not right about him."

"Is there a problem?" Hiyori asked, a little confused. Watching Ayanokōji, who had fallen silent after speaking, she didn't see anything particularly noteworthy about him.

Symon said with a laugh, "Just now, he shifted everyone's attention to the compensation. While clearing himself of responsibility, he also reframed the library incident as a misunderstanding. And finally, he bypassed you and reached a settlement for 800,000 points with Class C as a whole. You tell me, is there a problem?"

"Oh, I see. It's alright."

Hiyori said softly in her mind, "Mr. Ghost even gave them a piece of his mind. I was hesitating about whether to answer truthfully, so if it can end peacefully like this, that would be for the best."

"Fair enough. But that guy is pretty shrewd. We should steer clear of him from now on."

"I understand."

As the two conversed, Nagumo began the second item on the agenda in the council room. "We will now deliberate on the second point of contention. In Class D's claim, it is stated that Student Ibuki was the first to verbally insult Class D. Student Ibuki, do you have anything to say in your defense?"

Ibuki recalled the scene in her mind, frowning in thought. "What happened was this: Horikita kept denying she bullied Hiyori, so I brought up the stun gun. Then some really ugly guy kept mocking Hiyori for making a big deal out of nothing. I got pissed off and insulted him back."

"You're the ugly one, you crazy woman!" Haruki Yamauchi shot to his feet.

"Ah, that's him."

Mio Ibuki pointed at Yamauchi and looked at Miyabi Nagumo, saying coldly, "My exact words were—for scum like him who can't even tell right from wrong to be placed in a garbage heap like Class D, the school's placement rules are truly something else. If you think I'm wrong, then rule however you see fit."

"I've had enough of you!" Sudō slammed the table and stood up.

"Order!"

Miyabi Nagumo shouted to stop them. He watched the three sit down before speaking again. "Does Class D have anything to say?"

"Yes," Hirata stood up and said. "I demand that Ibuki apologize for insulting our classmate."

Ibuki turned her head away with a cold expression. "Can't do that. Facts are facts."

Beside her, Kakeru Ryūen paid no mind to Ibuki's stubborn attitude. He just looked at Horikita and sneered, "Suzune, it seems you haven't told them the truth about this school."

"I don't recall us being on a first-name basis," Horikita said, feigning composure.

"I see. You're trying to run, aren't you?" Ryūen asked with a smile.

Yamauchi said, "Hey, hey, what are you two talking about?"

Seeing the situation getting out of control, Miyabi Nagumo thought for a moment, then tapped the table to quiet everyone down. He turned to the two homeroom teachers, who hadn't said a word from the beginning. "Do either of you teachers have anything to say?"

Sakagami crossed his arms and said calmly, "It may be blunt, but what Ibuki said is a fact. Do you have any objections, Chabashira?"

Without a doubt, today's hearing was a massive victory for Class C. He felt completely calm; he had originally considered intervening on their behalf, but it now seemed he had been overthinking things.

In contrast, Chabashira seemed rather listless. She said flatly, "It is Class D, after all. The student council can announce the results. I have no objections."

Yamauchi was confused. "Teacher, how could you..."

He couldn't understand why his homeroom teacher was siding with outsiders.

"Because what Ibuki said is indeed a fact. As for the reason, I suspect Horikita already knows. You can ask her later." Chabashira had no intention of explaining it to him.

Seeing that the two homeroom teachers had given their opinions, Miyabi Nagumo delivered the final verdict on the spot. "After deliberation by the student council, the following judgment is rendered for this first-year mass violence incident—"

① Class D's Horikita and Ayanokōji are ordered to pay a total of 800,000 Private Points in compensation to Class C's Shiina, to be deducted and transferred monthly by the school. They are also suspended for two weeks.

② Class D's Sudō and Yamauchi are each ordered to pay 500,000 points in compensation to Class C's Ibuki, to be deducted and transferred monthly by the school. They are also suspended for one month.

③ All other participants in the violent incident are suspended for one week.

④ Considering the impact of the incident, the current Behavioral Standards Exam will end prematurely. The student council will submit a request to the school to this effect.

⑤ Class D will be penalized 300 Class Points, and Class C will be penalized 100 Class Points.

"That is all. Are there any objections?"

Sudō shot to his feet. "Hey! That crazy woman was the one who started it!"

Yamauchi also protested, "Yeah! Why do we have to pay so many points!"

"Tch!"

Ryūen let out a sneer and mocked, "Does that even need an explanation? Just what you'd expect from Class D."

"Remember this: fighting with a woman is the stupidest thing you can do in this world. Especially when you throw the first punch, and it's a group assault. No amount of excuses will do you any good."

"Do you get it now? Morons!"
