Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 16

Yuri spoke, "You can inject solus onto the dagger. By chance, the dagger might reveal its power."

With a swift motion, Sam plunged his solus into the dagger's hilt. Instantly, the blade ignited with a radiant glow, crackling to life as arcs of lightning danced along its edges.

Sam spoke, "Oh! It is a lightning dagger."

The following day, Rin and his companions took down nine grade 3 monsters and one grade 2, all thanks to Sam's unexpected awakening. They made quick work of the creatures, but Rin still hadn't experienced his own awakening, leaving him feeling a bit out of sorts. As the group caught their breath, Yuri furrowed her brow, deep in thought, until suddenly, a realization sparked in her mind."Rin, take off your shirt," she said, her tone suddenly serious. "I need to examine your soul."Rin raised an eyebrow but complied, shedding his shirt. Sam chuckled and exclaimed, "Wow, man, you're ripped!"To everyone's surprise, Yuri's cheeks flushed as she glanced at Rin. "For a teenager, you have quite the impressive physique," she admitted, trying to maintain her composure despite the blush creeping across her face. The atmosphere shifted, charged with an unexpected mix of admiration and intrigue, as Rin stood there, momentarily caught off guard by the attention.

Yuri's gaze pierced through the ethereal realm as she scanned Rin's essence. A shadow crossed her face, hinting at something unsettling. "What did you see?" Sam inquired, his voice tinged with curiosity and concern.Yuri's tone was heavy as she replied, "I can't find his soul."Rin's eyes widened, an unsettling dread creeping in. "What does that mean?"Yuri swallowed hard, her expression grave. "It means... You don't possess a soul."

Yuri's voice cut through the tension like a knife, "Without a soul, you aren't even regarded as a human-level being." Rin's heart raced, a mixture of shock and fury surging through him. "Is there any way for me to create a soul?" he demanded, desperation seeping into his tone.Yuri's gaze softened with sympathy, though his words held a weight of finality. "I'm afraid there's nothing I know of that could help."Rin felt a deep sense of turmoil swirl within him. The realization hit hard: he was trapped in a limbo that denied him the essence of humanity.
