Chapter 2 - Encounter

"Hello, How may I help you?" While arriving at the waiting room, he first questioned that lady.

The lady, seating at the couch of the waiting hall, was nearly at her 20's. Her golden hair, cut short in a sharp boyish style, framed her face in deliberate strokes of gold, catching the overhead lights with a muted glow. It wasn't the soft gold of summer wheat, rather it was more darker and more richer.

Her eyes were filled with a strange dark-golden hue, which made her mysterious and unreadable. She wore a golden-threaded intricated high-waisted pants with a dark-blue colored crop top and golden platform boots. The embroidery traced along her shoulders and sleeves like secret maps. It shimmered when she moved, but never loudly. It demanded attention without asking for it.

She was indifferently looking at the outside view from the window. At that time, hearing his voice all of a sudden, she was startled a bit. But after a few moments, she got calm. Then she winked at him and spoke very gently,

"Huh! you scared me. Hi, how are you?"

"Lady, I'm not here to chat with you. I don't have such time. If you need any help, let me know." He replied very coldly.

"Oh, I see. You're very busy now. But don't worry. It won't take much time. I just want the blue devil spear. That's why, I'm here. Tell me, where is that item?" She asked with a layered expression. Seeing that expression, no one could see her true motive.

He listened all her words. Then he replied with a disdain, "First of all, this is my workplace and I don't tolerate such off-topic discussions over here. Secondly, I don't know what you're saying. And third most importantly, get out of my office."

"Oh, so you don't have the spear, right? I see. Okay then. No worries. I will broadcast that epic scene to the whole city people. And you know, what the consequences will be after that!" She spoke with a cunning smile.

"Are you threatening me?" He got angry but remained calm.

"It's upto you. I just need the location of that spear. And I know you know the location. Now it's your choice. Will you hid the truth or disclose the truth? But the consequences, I will set that. So, what's your decision, brother?" She replied in a chilling voice.

"Don't call me brother with your foul mouth. I have moved on from this shit long ago. And most important, I've restricted myself from doing anything because this is my office. But, if you keep provoking, I swear I'll grab my fist and shove it inside you. And that will be most horrible for you. So, I'm warning you for last time, get out of my office." He replied in a very cold voice.

"Go ahead. I'm waiting for it." A chilling smile still remained on her face. She didn't move from her place.

Seeing that, he became very much frustrated and angry. However, he somehow controlled himself and replied in a very calm manner, "No Alexa, I can't lower myself into your level. Do whatever you want. I'm leaving this room..." At that moment, suddenly, another familiar voice interrupted his words. It was that black-suited lady named Nancy.

However, he was then shocked to see her wearing a completely different bloody red-colored suite. Nancy looked very different than the others day. A mysterious and cunning expression spread across her face. But he was more surprised when he noticed that no one came to find him even after he was disappeared for about an hour. Nancy instantly realized his anxiety.

"No one will come to find you, sir. I have given everyone a rest for today. I want to clean this matter as silent as possible. Don't worry, sir. Very soon, I'll replace you." Nancy spoke him indifferently.

"Wow, it means that scandal... You were behind all of it. Brilliant move, Nancy."

"Oh, so you're not that dumb what I thought. Nice nice. But you're partially correct here."

At that time, suddenly, an unknown voice echoed across the room.

"Are you really dumb or pretend to be dumb... Azrael Voidryn... or I'll say my little brother...?" Another lady suddenly appeared from behind a curtain of the room, while mocking him harshly. She was at her late 30's. Her stunning golden black appearance could make every men fall in love with her. Her purplish blue pupils seemed so majestic, as if with her one look, even angels would bowed before her. Her one lustrous smile could grab everyone's attention to her immediately. But the main mysterious thing was with her presence, her aura alone suppressed the three of them completely too such extent that no one could even move at all from their places. However, she didn't stop her mockery towards him,

"Brother... my little brother... you're such a naive. Previously, you could leave the room, but you didn't. How surprising it was, right? Even you said that you would go... but you didn't. Why? Why, my brother? Tsk-tsk-tsk... Still you don't understand, right?"

"I couldn't get a chance to leave the room. You know that very well."

"Oh, my bad. Sorry, brother." After saying that with a mockery on her face, she released him from her pressure. Then she spoke, "You're free to go. Go."

He didn't react at all despite of being mocked very harshly. He straight left the room. However, the moment he stepped out from the hall, he felt something different in the environment then.

The long passage before him no longer obeyed the quiet rules of ordinary space. The walls seemed to bend upward and merge with the ceiling in a slow, unnatural twist, as though the architecture itself had begun to lose its sense of direction. Straight lines dissolved into curves. The corridor stretched and folded like a ribbon being wound by unseen hands.

Then the spirals appeared.

Endless spiral patterns spread across the floor, the walls, the paths folding inward and outward in hypnotic symmetry. Each turn of the spiral seemed to open into another corridor, another path branching deeper into the maze.

And on every path he glanced at, his painful childhood memories began to resurfaced. Each memory lived upon a spiral path, glowing faintly as though it were waiting for him to follow it, urging him to step closer, to walk deeper.

The corridors folded again and again, multiplying endlessly until the entire space seemed to breathe in slow, dizzying loops. The same memories returned, again and again, reshaped, rearranged, replayed like fragments of a broken film.

And it happened like million times with him. The loop never ended. His thoughts tried to grasp the edges of it, to understand where the first moment had begun or where the last one had ended. But the spiral swallowed every attempt at logic, pulling his awareness tighter toward its center.

At that moment, he realized something.

He was stuck in a nightmare.

The moment he realized that, his cold face became fumed with anger. But he patiently waited for the right time to release his anger. He immediately stopped his thinking and without doing anything, just started moving forward. About an hour later, he saw the same waiting room in front of him. Seeing that, he didn't waste any more seconds. He kicked the door. With a bang sound, he broke the door completely. After that, he entered the room. Already that three ladies were present there. Seeing him, Alexa first spoke,

"Brother, I'm requesting you, please give us the spear. Otherwise, the consequences will be horrible. You know right, what's the city called. Nothing is hidden here. So, please give us the spear."

He remained silent. Didn't react, didn't respond at all.

"I guess, Monica, now it's in your hand. I don't think he will talk like this." Alexa said to that strongest lady in the room, named Monica.

"He will talk. So, tell me brother, How was your experience outside?" She asked him with a lustful smile.

He still remained silent.

"Oh great. You won't talk like this, right? Then let me share you one secret... That I'm sure you'll listen. So, listen carefully. Your father is in my hands. So, if you give us the spear, I'll share you the current location of your father. How's the deal?"

"And in your words, that will be hell, right?" He looked at her with a wrathful expression. His eyes burned with anger. The muscle along His jaw tightened as his teeth clenched together with strong force, as if a wild predator was ready to hunt its prey.

Seeing his such wild expressions, Monica burst into laughter. With a disdainful eyes, she spoke,

"Wow, my little brother, I can't imagine that you can also react as well. I guess our deal has been cancelled out. So, now... give us the spear..." While casually saying that, suddenly she paused due to a strange feeling in her heart.

At that moment, in a blink of an eye, he suddenly disappeared from that place. Seeing that, everyone got shocked. But before they could react, suddenly, the floor trembled and the shards of the illusion broke instantly. After a few moments, everything became stable. But, with an extreme shock, three of them found themselves tied with an iron pillar.

He sat before them in a armchair, leaning back with a casual posture. A cigarette rested loosely between his fingers, its thin trail of smoke rising slowly into the dim air above him.

"It was unexpected, brother! I already sealed your reality as you stepped inside the room for the first time. That's why, even if you wanted, you couldn't leave the place without my permission. In addition, I also wrapped you up into your nightmare. That's why even if I gave you the permission, in your nightmare you had to take permission from your subconscious mind to free yourself. But you didn't do that. Then how come you freed yourself from this strongest illusion? I didn't understand, brother. What tricks you hid in your sleeves?" With a shock yet expressionless voice, Monica asked him.

He didn't replied anything but continued smoking.

After a while, when he completed smoking, he slowly stepped up from the chair. Then, he gently murmured some words that easily echoed across the hall.

"Evolution Technique, Absolute zero!"

The moment he spoke that, the three of them instantly felt that the surroundings didn't just freeze, it became silenced completely.

Not the ordinary silence of an empty room, but a deeper absence, the kind that seemed to swallow every vibration of existence. The air around them stopped moving. The faint hum of distant machines vanished. Even the quiet rhythm of their own breath seemed to hesitate.

They tried to inhale.

The air entered their lungs like shards of invisible glass, cold beyond anything the mortal body was meant to understand. It was not simply freezing but rather it was the absence of warmth itself, a void where heat had never existed.

Their skin felt rigid, as though it had been turned into fragile porcelain. The slightest movement threatened to crack it.

The cold was so absolute that sensation began to disappear. Pain faded first, swallowed by numbness so complete it felt unnatural. Their heartbeat slowed, each pulse echoing in the emptiness like a distant drum struggling to continue.

Time stretched.

Seconds felt long and hollow, as if the universe itself had paused to watch.

Around them, the world stood perfectly still. Dust hung in the air like frozen stars. A drifting particle of smoke remained suspended, unmoving, its delicate spiral locked in place forever.

No one could move. They reached that point where motion surrendered and even the universe held its breath.

On the other hand, he could move freely in the space. Seeing their such dire situation, he began to laugh loudly. After that, he began to speak,

"What a glorious view in front of me! Excellent. What I feel before, now you three will feel the same. Now let me share the secret with you all. The moment I saw you Monica, I realized that Nancy is nothing else but just a puppet of you. And, behind that scandal, three of you were the masterminds. Don't worry, now I won't hid the truth anymore. Rather, I will tell three of you the whole story of one of my own past. And, I'm sure, you'll listen that.

But before that, let me clarify three of yours clouds of delusions. So, the truth is, I didn't do anything. Whenever that 'Blue Devil Spear' feels danger on me, it straight appears on my palm. And let me tell you, its presence alone can shatter any kinds of nightmares, illusion, twisted realities, and blah-blah-blah! And with its help, I could counterattack your offense, Monica. And the most important thing is, its speciality is this evolution technique, named 'Absolute Zero'. And here you are.

Now listen carefully. I will reveal my past..."
