Chapter 54 - Unease

Max's expression was calm, almost frigidly so, as he stated, "They were the traitors of the Williams Family and had most likely contributed in bringing them down."

A hint of surprise flashed in Robert's eyes hearing this. Then, he nodded, "You are right. They had betrayed the Williams Family and it was later revealed that not only had they stopped the reinforcements of the subordinate forces, they were the ones who somehow instigated the other forces to band together and destroy the Williams."

Max's expression still did not change, however, if Robert had paid enough attention, he would have noticed that his already black pupils had become pitch black.

But Robert did not and continued after a moment's silence, "Everything settled down after some time, but the traitors became uneasy because they had realized that some of the Williams Family members had escaped the purge.

They tried to gather the coalition forces again to find and eliminate the last of Williams, however, since they had already killed all the strongest fighters of Williams Family and the remnants were of no threat to them, the coalition forces shut them down.

However, the traitors couldn't rest easy and they began scouring the world. But with no Mana left in the outside world to replenish their reserves, this task wasn't easy.

Even so, they didn't stop even as years, decades and centuries passed and continued searching. In fact, they have been searching for the remnants until now, only their drive isn't as strong as it was due to over a hundred generations having passed."

Phew!

Speaking until here, Robert exhaled deeply, tired after speaking so much. However, after drinking some water to wet his throat, he continued.

"During these 10,000 years, the Williams, who had escaped, continued moving to different places, married a few women and birthed some children. They then told them to spread out and multiply.

Those children, after finding out about their illustrious past and the subsequent betrayal and destruction, were enraged and made increasing their number their life's mission."

Robert's eyelids twitched as he continued, his tone becoming colder, "Because of this, for generations, all the men your family birthed had been perverts, sowing wild oats everywhere they went.

But at least they were gentlemen and took responsibility. That bastard John, however, was a complete scum.

He didn't take responsibility and disappeared from the lives of the girls he ruined and impregnated.

But thanks to your family's genes which gave him looks and charm, despite his infamy, he always managed to win the next girl's heart.

During these wild adventures of his, he met your mother and as expected, he tried to charm her, but she shot him down. Damn, I was very happy that day when I found out about it and felt very proud of my Sarah."

Robert chuckled, but then his expression hardened, but then a month later, I saw her with your father, talking and laughing on her way back from the college and I knew the bastard had succeeded. I told her to break up—"

"Grandpa, I'm not interested in knowing how they met and fell in love. So, can you come to the point?" Max interrupted him and immediately earned a glare from the old man which made him sigh and forced him to say, "Okay. Continue."

"So, I strongly opposed their relationship, but Sarah had completely fallen for him, saying he wasn't the same as before and wanted to marry her, start a family.

Since she wasn't ready to listen and even threatened to run away with him if I did not agree, I had no choice but to give them my consent. Of course, I also made sure they got married.

Then...

Those traitors' descendants found him and were about to kill him when Sarah, who had come over at our house for a small family celebration, returned.

Seeing her husband was about to be killed, she tried to fight them off, but she wasn't strong enough to face them all on her own.

Just when she decided to die with John, the traitors' leader, Samuel Brown proposed a deal. He wanted Sarah to become his woman. If she agreed, he would let John live." Robert said, his expression dark.

Robert didn't notice, but Max's expression, which had been calm all along, had also turned dark, a strong murderous glint flashing in the depths of his pitch black eyes.

After a short while, Robert looked at him and said, "I don't know what happened next because when I went over to their house to check up on them after she didn't contact me for weeks and neither she nor John responded to my calls or messages, I only found a messy house.

When I checked their in camera recordings, I only saw that much footage before the screen went black—the cameras had been deactivated somehow."

"I tried to look for them everywhere, but I didn't find any clue. But then, a year later, John and Sarah appeared before me. They were safe and sound. Moreover... Sarah had you in her arms."

"When I asked them where they had been and how they survived, John told me that his elder brother, your uncle, had saved them and they were with him for the year.

Not long after, we moved to the recently established New Island.

For a few years, everything was well, but then suddenly, Sarah came to me—she had divorced John. And although she didn't tell me the reason, I know that the bastard must have cheated on her and broke her heart."

Max frowned when he heard this. He realized the old man probably didn't have much information about Samuel.

However, after hearing the latter part, he wanted to know more about something else.

"Why did she not bring me with her? And why didn't she try to contact or meet me all these years?" He asked.

Robert opened his mouth to answer, but then shook his head, sighed and stood up. "Let's go see your mother."

Ba-Dum!

Hearing him say this right when he asked those questions, and the choice of his words made his heart skip a beat, and the faint unease he had been feeling all this while intensified manifold.

Following Robert, Max arrived in front of a room, not far from the old man's.

Knock! Knock!

"Can we come in?"

Robert knocked on the door, his hand trembling slightly.

A few seconds later, a young woman dressed in the white nurse uniform opened the door. She was beautiful, but Max was in no mood to admire her.

The nurse gave Robert a graceful bow and invited them inside.

"Thank you, Nurse Kim." Robert nodded at her and said, "Please give us the room for a while."

"Yes, Sir Governor." Nurse Kim nodded and stepped out of the room.

...

Max stared blankly at the woman lying unconscious on the bed with a peaceful look on her well-sculpted, beautiful but sickly pale face.

She was his mother, the woman who loved him the most in this world, played with him and took care of him.

Whenever he bruised himself while playing, he would run over to her while crying.

She would sit on her knees, give him the gentlest and most comforting smile and then she would kiss the bruises before asking in her gentle, motherly voice, 'Are you still hurting baby?'

Seeing her loving gaze on him, he would feel all fuzzy and would instantly forget about the pain.

He... loved her more than anything.

This was why, when she disappeared, he was so hurt, so sad and filled with so much anger towards his father that he stopped speaking to him for months.

Maybe also because of this... he subconsciously chose to forget her, erase her memories so he wouldn't hurt so much.

As the past memories flashing in his mind, before he realized, tears were spilling out of his eyes.

Then he felt a strong and comforting hand on his shoulder and slowly gathered himself.

Wiping his tears, he walked over to the bed, kneeled on the floor and gently held her unnaturally cold hand.

Ba-Dum!

For a moment, he thought she was no longer alive. His expression fell and his heart almost stopped beating.

But right then, he heard Robert, who had also come over to her side and was staring at with a look of heartache, say: "Don't worry, kid. She is alive."

Hearing this, Max relaxed and used [Discerning Eyes] on her, wanting to see what was wrong with her, but same as when he tried checking the old man's information, his head throbbed in pain.

[Name: Sarah Foster]

Maybe because he had exhausted his spiritual energy when trying to scan Robert, the pain was way more intense.

After it subsided, he asked, "What's wrong with her?"

"She..." Robert sighed and sat on the stool near the bed.

"Let me continue from where I stopped, so you—"

"No need." Max interrupted him, "Just tell me what's wrong with her."

At this moment, he no longer wanted to know why she left or why she didn't try to meet him. When she woke up, she could tell him herself. Right now, it was important to know the reason she was in half dead state.

Robert looked at him with a complicated look in his eyes, then sighed inwardly and said, "She is poisoned."

Max's expression turned cold and he shifted his gaze away from Sarah's face to Robert before asking in a low voice and very calm voice, "Who did it?"

"Samuel Brown."

Max nodded before looking at Sarah once again.

"It's an extremely insidious and very rare poison even from 10,000 years old world standards. It's a slow poison and doesn't harm the target's physical body or their vitality, instead, it causes confusions and hallucinations until the target loses their mind. Then, it forces them into a coma." Robert explained. "She has been in a coma for over 7 years now."

"So, this is why she left us..." Max muttered upon hearing this and felt guilty for hating her for disappearing.

"Yeah." Robert nodded.

"Can I be with her alone for a while?" Max asked.

"Yeah. Take your time." Nodding, Robert stood up and left the room.

Max then opened the system shop and typed 'Something that can cure the poison in her body'.

Because he had scanned her, though it wasn't a success, there was a connection between Sarah and the system. This was why Max didn't need to specify what poison it was.

Immediately, a smaller screen popped up.

[Notice: Host needs to be at or above level 20 to view the requested items!]

"Level 20..." He muttered before closing the screens.

He then kissed the back of Sarah's palm and said, "You'll soon get better, Mom. Just hang in there for a while more."

...

After a while, he walked out of the room and saw nurse Kim standing there, her back leaning against the wall.

Seeing him, she bowed her head slightly and said, "Young Master, Sir Governor asked me to tell you to go see him once you come out. He has something to tell you."

"Thank you, I understand." Max nodded. Then he looked her up and down and asked, "What's your name?"

Nurse Kim panicked a little when she noticed his unrestrained gaze scanning her body because she felt as if he could see through her clothes.

"I-It's Kim Eun-Ji, sir." Nurse Kim answered.

"So, you won't mind if I call you Miss Eun-Ji, right?" Max asked while using [Discerning Eyes] on her.

Once again, his head throbbed with pain, almost making him grunt.

Fortunately, this was only due to exhaustion of the spiritual energy, not because of Kim Eun-Ji's level.

[Name: Kim Eun-Ji]

Marital Status: Unmarried

Sexual Satisfaction: 5%

Vaginal Virginity: Yes

Anal Virginity: Yes

Sexual Arousal: 3%

Sensual Points: Lips. Earlobes, Neck, Nipples, Vagina, Anus.

[Sexual Fetish/Fantasy: Forced Sex, Blindfold Sex.]

[Status: Nervous, Afraid.]

[Loyalty: 25]

Because he would have to endure pain once more to check her normal status, he had willed her status and loyalty to appear with her sexual information.

'Unmarried, that's good.' He thought.

Eun-Ji, being from Korean descent, had oriental features which were to his liking as he always fantasized about fucking some asian women, especially Korean and Chinese.

Her skin was fair and tender—glass skin if you will—like most Korean models and idols. Her pink lips were thin like flower petals, black eyes and black hair. A slender, sexy neck which he could trail kisses down upon, making her writhe from pleasure. Her clear eyes were black just like her hair.

As for her figure, though it could not compare with his step-mom, Emily's, or Ruth, those two ripe and perfect MILFS, it was still quite sexy with all the curves in right places.

Her breasts didn't appear large on her chest, but he was sure he wouldn't be able to cover them in his hands, meaning they were perfect to play with. Her waist was slim enough for him to easily wrap his arm around.

Then, below her waist, her hips flared out sexily and thanks to her tight white skirt which outlined her ass perfectly for him to admire, he saw it was perky, round and sizable, meaning he would enjoy fucking her from behind...

...

Ba-Dum! Ba-Dum!

Eun-Ji's heart thudded in her chest feeling his ravenous gaze. She had heard the news and knew he had single-handedly killed almost a hundred people.

While it made him somewhat attractive in her eyes because he was someone she could rely on to survive these chaotic times, it scared her more.

Nervously gulping down her saliva, she nodded, "Y-Yes, sir. You can call me as you like."

"Good."
