Chapter 5 - Bloodline Secrets

Elara's Point of View

Days had turned into weeks, and still, the strange dreams haunted me.

Each night, the silver-haired woman appeared under the moonlight, whispering the same words: "Your legacy will either save or destroy the one you love."

At first, I brushed it off as guilt or exhaustion. But lately… something had begun to stir deep inside me.

When I touched the earth, it pulsed.

When I looked at the moon, it hummed.

When I trained, energy rippled around me, fierce and wild.

And I knew — something was coming.

---

"Your stance is off," Nolan's voice pulled me back.

He was watching me from the edge of the training ground, arms folded, a small smirk tugging at his lips. His shirt was clinging to his skin, damp with sweat. His golden eyes tracked my every movement — calm, assessing, possessive.

I sighed, lowering my blade. "You've been staring for the last ten minutes instead of sparring."

"Correction," he said, stepping closer. "I was admiring my Luna's progress."

I rolled my eyes, trying to hide the smile tugging at my lips. "You're insufferable."

He grinned. "And yet, you're smiling again."

Before I could respond, Kael approached in a hurry, a serious look replacing his usual easy grin. "Alpha, Luna, we need to talk. Now."

Nolan's playful expression vanished. "What happened?"

Kael handed him a scroll, the wax seal broken. "It's from the ShadowClaw Pack. They've sent a warning — rogues have been gathering near their border. But there's more."

Nolan unrolled it, his brows furrowing deeper with every line.

"What does it say?" I asked.

He looked up, eyes narrowing. "They mentioned a she-wolf with golden eyes and Celestian blood. They're looking for her."

The air left my lungs.

My fingers trembled.

Kael glanced between us. "They didn't name her, but… there aren't many wolves with that bloodline left."

Nolan's gaze locked on mine. "Elara."

I swallowed hard. "They're hunting me."

---

Nolan's Point of View

The council meeting that night was tense.

"ShadowClaw's alpha is ambitious," Kael growled. "If he thinks he can capture someone with Celestian blood, he'll try to use her power for himself."

Mira added quietly, "And if the legends are true, that kind of power could wipe out entire packs."

I clenched my fists. "They won't touch her."

Rowan, the elder, cleared his throat. "Alpha, if Elara's awakening has drawn attention, she must learn to control it. Her emotions are tied to her strength. If she loses control—"

"I won't," she interrupted, stepping into the room.

Every eye turned to her. She looked calm, but I could see the fire beneath her stillness.

"I won't be your weakness," she said. "And I won't run again. If they come, I'll face them."

The pride that swelled in my chest was undeniable.

Kael gave a short nod. "Then we prepare."

Elara's Point of View

Training became harder. Nolan pushed me beyond my limits — physically, emotionally, spiritually.

He taught me how to channel my power, how to listen to the earth rather than fight against it. He believed the Celestian bloodline drew strength from nature — from balance, not aggression.

"Breathe," he said one night, as I stood in the moonlit courtyard. "Don't fight the energy. Let it flow through you."

The air shimmered around me, golden sparks floating like embers. My wolf purred, stretching beneath my skin.

When I opened my eyes, a faint golden aura surrounded me.

"You're glowing again," he murmured, stepping closer.

I looked up at him, heart pounding. "Is that… good?"

His hand brushed a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "It's breathtaking."

Before I could respond, a sharp howl echoed from the border.

We froze.

Kael's voice rang through the mind-link. "Rogues! Dozens of them. Coming fast!"

Nolan's wolf surfaced instantly. "Get the warriors ready. Protect the pups and the elders. Elara—"

"I'm coming with you," I said before he could finish.

"Elara—"

"I'm not hiding again."

For a second, our eyes locked — command clashing with defiance.

Then, finally, he nodded. "Stay by my side."

Battlefield – Crescent Moon Border

The night exploded with snarls and screams. The air was thick with blood and fear.

I shifted mid-run, my wolf bursting forward — golden and fierce. Nolan's massive black wolf led the charge beside me.

Together, we fought like we'd done it for centuries. He ripped through rogues with brute strength; I moved like lightning, fast and precise.

But something was wrong.

The rogues weren't disorganized — they were coordinated. Someone was controlling them.

Then I saw him.

A tall figure cloaked in black, standing just beyond the trees. His scent was wrong — sharp, poisonous. When his eyes met mine, they glowed red.

"Celestian," he hissed.

Nolan growled, stepping in front of me. "Who are you?"

The stranger smiled darkly. "A servant of the prophecy. And I've come to claim what's mine."

Before Nolan could attack, the man raised his hand — and the earth cracked open.

A surge of dark energy shot toward us. Nolan was thrown back, crashing against a tree.

I screamed his name and felt it — that storm inside me, rising like a tidal wave.

The world went white.

Lightning exploded from my body, sweeping across the battlefield. Rogues burned where they stood. The air vibrated with power, shaking the ground.

When it ended, I was on my knees, gasping. The cloaked man was gone.

Nolan staggered toward me, blood trickling from his temple. "Elara—"

"I didn't mean to…" I whispered, tears blurring my vision. "I couldn't stop it."

He cupped my face, despite his wounds. "You protected us."

"But I could've killed you."

He smiled faintly, pressing his forehead against mine. "Then I guess I'll have to trust that you won't."

His faith broke something open inside me — something I'd locked away since the night I was rejected.

For the first time, I believed I wasn't cursed.

I was chosen.

Later That Night

The battle was over. Crescent Moon had survived — but barely.

I stood on the balcony outside Nolan's office, watching the moon climb higher. My hands still trembled.

Kael approached quietly. "You did good, Luna."

"Good?" I gave a weak laugh. "I nearly burned half the forest."

He shrugged. "Sometimes fire is what saves us."

I smiled faintly, but inside, I knew the truth — this power wasn't done with me yet.

When I turned, Nolan was watching from the doorway, silent. His golden eyes glowed softly in the moonlight.

"Next time," he said quietly, "we face them together."

I nodded, stepping into his arms. "Together."

And as the moon shone over us, I felt it again — the prophecy whispering through the wind.

Your legacy will either save or destroy the one you love.

I prayed the Goddess would let it be the first.
