Colt and Stacy stood hands joined as a sign of dismissal, Stacy spoke "Thank you everyone for this wonderful breakfast. It was a pleasure meeting with you today. I look forward to long talks and advice you may give me as a Luna." Stacy was dazzling. She was unknowingly changing the dynamic of the pack and it was amazing. No Alpha, let alone a Luna would dare to invite Omega's to dine with her. Stacy treated each Omega with respect and certainly no Luna would be caught dead taking advice from an Omega. The best part of it all was, she did it naturally. To her each Omega was just another person to get to know, they were no less than her. Colt smiled with pride at Stacy, she makes all the other Luna's look like the stuck up bitches that they were.
Through the mind link Colt told Isaac, Charlie, Hunter, and Dixie to meet in his study so they can conduct pack business. Colt squeezed Stacy's hand and kissed her cheek, he turned to the staff and looked at the smiles of adoration for his Luna and told them "Thank you, we look forward to lunch". With that the family headed to the study. In the study Colt gestured to the couches, once Colt observed everyone was settled with their tablets out, Colt spoke "Before we begin, Dixie, well done!" Dixie blushed with pride "I chose them because on Sunday afternoons we play rummy. I trust those five with my life. What better group of people to choose ! I already know that they are trustworthy. Stacy what did you think?"
Stacy grinned, she loves that someone asked for her opinion. The days of being the overlooked girl in the corner are long gone and in her place stood a young confident woman. "Oh, Dixie! I adore them. I don't mind that they are elderly. Since I'm new to the pack life I can learn from them about the packs daily life and what's expected of me as a Luna." Dixie beamed with pride at her soon to be daughter.
Colt looked at Isaac, "You want to go first? I'm eager to hear your progress report." Isaac took a long sip of his coffee "Colt you might want to put Stacy in your lap, you need her to stay calm". Instinctively Stay sat on his lap, Colt didn't have to move a muscle. "Boss there is a lot. The financial audit is still on going but it's bad. I'm having a detailed report drawn up as we speak. The packs financial status is dire. The cafeteria is on a shoe string budget, barely enough for three meals a day and that's being generous. The training equipment is falling apart, the lines for assistance are long and the wait is at minimum six months to receive help. There is a lot of resentment towards the former Alpha and Luna because while the pack suffers, this grand pack house was built." Isaac paused and spoke solemnly "Here is the part that will make everyone lose their shit. There is no easy way to say this , the former Alpha and Luna have been embezzling funds meant for the pack"
The room erupted in growls and the anger was palpable. Stacy could feel Colt trembling in anger and she hugged him and used her link with him " Colt it will be ok. We will fix this, our family will fix this." Colt relaxed only a little, his anger would not subside easily. "How bad?" he growled. Isaac took a deep breath, the Alpha aura was suffocating "Colt can you reel in the aura? It's hard to think clearly". With Stacy's help, Colt was able to calm down enough to suppress his aura and calm his wolf. With a deep breath he asked again "How bad?". Isaac was able to gather his thoughts and started to relay the information gathered. "We first discovered about a dozen shell companies with false addresses around the United States. That discovery led us to off shore accounts, at least five. Colt, we are talking close to a billion dollars." Colt closed his eyes. How could his parents do this? How could an Alpha and Luna make their pack suffer?
"Can we get the money back?" Colt asked. "It's already done. I have the money in an escrow account waiting for your decisions." That was a huge relief to Colt, he welcomed the good news in the nightmare his parents created. "First we need to create offices and departments. We will need a Financial Aid and Assistance department, within that department, we will need food assistance, job assistance, clothing assistance. Have the financial auditors create budgets and allocate the funds. In the meantime, provide the cafeteria with money to buy whatever they need to make healthy meals. Is there any way we can give each pack member a voucher to buy clothes? Let's release vouchers in waves so that the shops won't be overwhelmed. "
"Involve The Guard, they need to be aware of the financial fraud of my parents. Make it well known that I want them punished for ALL of their crimes". Colt stroked Stacy's hair absent mindedly, this small act made him so calm it was eerie. " We need an informational website for the pack. The pack deserves transparency of the crimes my parents committed against them. Have a statement drafted that all of the former Alpha and Luna's assets will be liquidated and the funds used will be to improve conditions." Isaac lowered his head and concentrated on using his link. After a few moments Isaac said " I got Scott on it boss, you remember him? He will have website up and running by the end of the day."
Colt nodded in approval. "In the meantime, everyone please use my personal funds until this mess is sorted. I will have debit cards issued to each of you and your names attached to the account. Don't worry about costs, I have done well for myself with investments and real estate. Please feel free to use the account. Buy new equipment and pay the contractors from my account. I don't want my finances intertwined with my parents or pack." Colt was thoughtful for a moment "Guys, we can use my parents crimes to our advantage. The pack knows that my parents were removed from their positions but don't know why. We will tell them about my parents involvement with the sale of their Luna in due time. In the meantime we can let the pack assume that it's because of their financial abuse. This will protect Stacy from the opportunists who will exploit her situation. All they need to know is that Stacy is Alpha Anastasia Bloodmoon, future Luna Stacy Myers, and my fated mate. Please make sure that the pack uses 'Stacy' anyone who calls her Anastasia or the 'lost princess' will be punished accordingly."
"Regarding Stacy, what has The Guard found out about their involvement?" Charlie nodded "Not much boss, George and Vivian where very cautious and there is little to no paper or electronic trail. The Guard has found that Alpha Richard and Alpha Adam were involved more than they initially thought." Charlie handed Colt a file folder. It seems that Alpha Richard found out that George was working with the Unseelie, most likely from a spy. Together, the three of them collaborated to create the Moon River Firm. Like my brother I have news that will make you lose your shit. According to the limited communication found by The Guard, Moon River is conducting experiments of both Fae and Wolves."
Colt gripped his coffee mug so hard that it was cracking under the pressure. "Like what?" he growled. " The extent is unknown, what we do know is that blood transfusion, surgeries, and fertility treatments are involved." Colts wolf was pushing forward, the anger was oppressing to the point it was painful. Goddess bless Dixie, she stood up and opened a window, the cool breeze washed over Colt soothing his wolf.
Colt told his family that he needed a few minutes. He closed his eyes and nestled his nose into Stacy's hair focusing on the scent of verbana. Letting his anger settle. " There has to be more in the old pack house.My father always kept meticulous records." He started thinking about the situation and finding evidence. Suddenly he had a thought, The Whisps. Pulling out his phone and scrolled to Dixie's app, when he found what he was looking for he smiled mischievously.
" It looks like Dixie has planned a day tomorrow for the pack to meet their new Luna. I see there is a brunch tomorrow at 10 am, followed by a meet and greet with Stacy until noon" The group looked at each in confusion. Hunter spoke up " Uh boss, not to step on your toes but that doesn't help the situation of our current discussion".
"Oh but it does my friend" Colt leaned forward holding onto Stacy. "Dixie, I'm assuming that you had invited elders and other important figures of the pack." Dixie nodded and Colt continued. " Invite The Whisps and have them sit at the table next to ours" Then it dawned on the group, they knew exactly what Colt had in mind now.
