Chapter 2 - Qionghua Star River Company

If I'm being honest, this was the first time that Cute Lin had took initiative to strike a conversation as boys were usually the first that took the first step.

She was originally clueless on where her class was when she stumbled upon Jin Luo coincidentally.

Usually, the bitchless types she usually encountered had a proud and arrogant air around them. But this boy... he had a sense of mystery around him that caught her eye at first glance.

No! This can't be it... I mean, you saw the guy, he was quiet— it could've looked like he didn't like women at all!

So Cute Lin decided, that she will try everything in her power to get close to him!

Better yet, know him more!

So as Lin Qian was following Jin Luo into the grand entrance, she kept on asking questions which irritated him a bit.

"Classmate! What's your last name?"

"Classmate! Do you think you'll pass the interview?"

She tried to close the distance between them. But Jin Luo was silent and as expressionless as ever...

It looked as if she was talking to herself!

...

If I'm being honest, this was the first time Jin Luo was giving directions to somebody. Had Lin Qian not come up to him, he wouldn't even bother to gesture his hand.

He despised interacting with others, Lin Qian included, who seemed at the surface to be trying to break the ice between. But Jin Luo could very clearly hear what she was thinking...

Why isn't he talking?! I'm trying my best! Boys would want to be in your place—Come on, speak, speaaaakkk!

Jin Luo was taken aback; she was about to explode!

This all stemmed up from a dream he had a few years back, and when he woke up, he had obtained telepathy!

Jin Luo couldn't quite remember what dream it actually was, the only thing he remembered was that he was eating a massive pack of custard bun snacks. He was in heaven basically!

Due to those conditions, he was unwillingly hearing other people's thoughts.

But Jin Luo felt that, with her seemed prowess and appearance, she would most definitely be a prodigy student.

The reason why Lin Qian had come here was opposite as to Jin Luo's. Jin Luo tried his best to keep a low-profile, while Lin Qian tried her best to express her existence.

Or maybe, there was another trick at play: fate?

Heh. Yeah, the author's having fun here~

Moreover, there were many high schools in the area consisting of multiple prodigy students. But in this school, which seemed normal on the surface— was glistening with ordinary students or maybe so above average. She felt that she would very easily be able to showcase her presence here.

She hadn't expected this boy to ignore her the moment she entered! Shit! Is this cold head gay or something?!

Jin Luo hadn't expected that the moment he entered, he would draw someone's attention, more plainly— a girl!

— F**k! The situation was just unbelievably dire!

...

The evaluation interviews today were similar as to those hundreds of years ago. They're aimed at carefully examining a student's potential result within the context of the school. So they weren't being handled unjustly. Though, to get in this school, you had to be at least Foundation Establishment and there were different levels to it actually.

So, although the last and first levels of Foundation Establishment are further apart, the strength in-between wasn't any different and the school understood this.

In the medium-sized classroom, four examiners sat in a row.

There were actually some boys and girls who were already present there, engaging in animated chatter.

As Jin Luo and Lin Qian entered, the attention was immediately shifted to them.

Sensing the upcoming gossip that would bubble up if he didn't make prompt action, Jin Luo immediately went to the most unassuming seat at the back of the class.

Close call... the only undesirable thing right now is if rumours spread around about them.

Lin Qian's movie-star looks immediately caught all of the boys and girls present attention. Even the four examiners couldn't help but admire her looks.

Some girls even ducked their heads in embarrassment.

"Hello everyone! My name is Cute Lin! We're gonna be classmates from now on, so I hope we get along well!" As usual, Cute Lin was a man and woman attention grabber. She bowed gracefully, and gave a welcoming, gentle smile that made the boys drool a little!

The only thing that irritated Lin Qian a bit was Jin Luo's disinterest in her introduction! He was looking out the window the entire time!

How could there be a man who she couldn't grab?!

Cute Lin felt that this was just inconceivable.

One of the examiners were in shock as they heard her introduction.

"Li....Lin... Linqian?" One examiner said in astonishment.

"No way...! It surely cannot be "that" Lin Qian right?"

"I mean..." As one of the male examiners said this, he brought out his list and flipped through until he found her information.

"Jesus!"

"The eldest daughter of the Qian Family; the Qiaonghua Star River Emerald Company... Lin Qian?"

This was actually a Global 500 company that made its name selling legitimate artifacts and elixirs!

"She's one of the only granddaughters of the family that had excelled in swordsmanship...!"

"Damn, she must be real powerful then— I heard she was in the Golden Rank of Swordwright back in middle school...!"

Meanwhile, an inscopicouis Jin Luo at the back of the class heard what one of the examiners said about her, and couldn't help furrowing his brows as he gave it some thought.

Although he had figured that her identity wouldn't be so simple, he hadn't expected that her family background would be so grand. He thought that this relatively normal high school would be brimming with ordinary students...

And furthermore, if she's a prodigy student... shouldn't she be at prestigious schools? What the hell is she doing over here?!

Jin Luo watched as she smilingly came over to him and taking a seat next to him. He was dumbstruck!

The eldest daughter of this Global 500 company... had seemingly came to his high school?! What were her parents thinking!

Jin Luo closed his eyes and looked to the side, ignoring the flirtatious glances Lin Qian struck his way.

Anyway, as long as I keep my strength hidden and not pay attention to this maiden, I should be able to wear her off for a while... right?

A moment later, one of the examiners voices sounded throughout the room. "Everyone. The evaluation test is about to begin."

Namely, the students who were in the Foundation Establishment stage didn't have it difficult to pass said test, as it was only strength related.

According to scientific research, it wasn't that hard to break Foundation. You only needed proper care and nutrition from birth, and you could very easily get to the stage.

Of course, there was one freak who's realm advanced every year without the help of

medication pills... yeah, I'm talking about that dick!

The era in which Jin Luo lived in, was different than the Jin Family's era, which suffered from pollution and malnutrition. Children in this age are needy of medication for safe advancement; and all those medications recommended by doctors like "Silver Pills," "Heart Rate Balancers," "Diamond Palmers," and so on... all of these were manufactured by the Qionghua Star River Company!

These were extremely popular.

The threshold for some students who were at Foundation or hadn't broke through wasn't exactly see through...

Hence, this was why the evaluation test was developed. Not only would it be able to get a gist out of students' strength, it could be also used to find somebody truly "talented."

By the time Jin Luo's batch graduates, the number of Foundation Establishment students who would further advance into Golden Core (conversion rate) would greatly elevate the school's status. Thus enabling them to qualify for a key city high school premise.

At the dais, a middle aged woman with a slender face cleared her throat which made students quiet down and she said slowly. "Throughout the years at our No. 72 Phoenix Ridge Cultivation High School we've had some ups and downs. We have achieved a Jindan transformation rate of 2 in 15,000 over the years. What that means, is that for every 15,000 students, some of you would be Golden Core already. As such, you all will be at this school for the next three years, and at the end of those three years, you all would receive your graduation certificate to which you will enter university and study to be Nascent Soul masters. I hope you all will work hard, and strive to climb the ranks in this school."

The figure of 2 in 15,000 may sound weird at first, considering No. 72 Phoenix only enrolled five hundred students annually. However, Jin Luo didn't think this was too bad— after all, there were schools in the district that had even less than that.

"Now let us begin with a strength test. Students who are registered with their names, please go on the dais and put on your virtual glasses in order for the test to be executed."

One examiner cleared his throat as he called out the first name. "Student NR one. Cute Lin, come up here please."
