Chapter 65 - Season Finale : Blood and Oaths

Carmine's scream shattered the hall, her voice cutting through the oppressive silence. Isabelle rose, her fury uncontained. "That's no way to talk to royalty, you ungrateful slave!"

Colden's voice thundered back, raw and unrestrained. "Mother… shut the fuck up!"

The room froze. Demure surged to his feet, his hand raised to strike Colden. But before the blow could fall, Carmine rushed forward, catching his other wrist in a grip like iron. Her eyes burned with a deadly promise. "If you ever lay hands on him… it will be the last time you ever lift your hands."

Demure faltered, his bravado collapsing under the weight of her glare. He dropped back, terrified.

Glinda appeared, her voice sharp and commanding. "Carmine, take the young master. I will take care of… them."

Isabelle's eyes narrowed, confusion flickering. "Them? Really?" But Carmine and Colden were already storming out, leaving Isabelle's words to rot in the air.

At the palace stairs, they found Elaine collapsed on the ground. Her mascara streaked down her cheeks, bruises marred her skin, and blood stained her hands. Colden's rage ignited as he helped her up.

"They took Marco," Elaine sobbed. "And they nearly killed his mother. She's still there… she needs help."

Carmine and Colden's eyes widened. Without hesitation, they rushed to the carriage. Colden seized the reins, Carmine beside him, Elaine clinging to the back as the horses thundered into the night.

The inn was a ruin. The place where Colden had once met Marco was now nothing but destruction. Blood stained the floors, walls splintered, and silence screamed louder than any voice.

On the ground, Colden saw strands of golden hair. His blood boiled.

Then they found her — Lily, collapsed in a pool of blood. Her eyes fluttered open as she saw Colden. Tears welled. "Please… save him. Save Marco. I can't. He needs to know he isn't alone."

Colden's voice broke. "He isn't. Let's go, we can take you to the hospital—"

But Carmine's hand gripped his shoulder, her eyes heavy with sorrow. She shook her head. Lily would not survive.

Colden's tears fell as Lily reached up, caressing his hair with trembling fingers. "Promise me… he will be okay."

With a shattered voice, Colden whispered, "I promise you."

Her breathing faded. Her smile slipped away. And Lily was gone. Colden sat in silence, his heart torn open, the weight of his vow crushing him.

They returned to the palace, faces pale with horror. Isabelle met them with fury, slapping Colden across the face. "Who do you think you are, speaking to your mother like that?"

Her gaze turned to Carmine. "And you… you will be sentenced to death, you scroungeless girl—"

The sound of a slap echoed, but it was not Carmine's. It was Glinda.

Her face was fierce, her voice sharp as steel. "I may look old, but I haven't become inhuman. Can't you see their faces? The look of death, the grief you caused, you salvage bitch!"

Isabelle stood stunned, speechless for the first time.

The night drowned in sorrow. The next day, the funeral was held. Francis arrived, grief etched into every line of his face. Silence reigned, broken only by tears.

And then, the day after, the journey began. Colden, Carmine, Elaine, and Glinda set out to find Marco. Isabelle and the brothers joined, though their motives remained twisted — still believing Carmine must be removed, Colden must be reshaped. The in-laws stayed behind, watching the palace fall into uneasy quiet.

The team parted ways, each carrying the hope that Marco was alive… and not lost to death.
