Chapter 4 - The beginning of a new story

This would definitely change everything Barry had ever known about the world of Harry Potter. What he knew might not even happen...

Over the last two days he had spent in Harry's body, he had begun to understand the essence of this world, although at times he was indignant. At least he knew his goal — to save this Earth. The only thing he didn't understand at first was why it needed to be saved. Later, after finding out from the Dursleys what had happened to him (he had to keep up appearances; they couldn't guess that someone else was in their nephew's body), he realised that the real Harry Potter was seriously ill. The Dursleys weren't particularly concerned about his recovery; they gave him some pills and that was it. So Harry didn't survive the night. But that's if you don't go into too much detail. In reality, Barry Allen had taken over his body, but not for this family — to them, it looked like Harry had simply recovered.

Apparently, restoring the balance meant defeating Voldemort, because the one who was supposed to do it died before his time...

...Literally the next day, he received a letter from Hogwarts, but immediately decided to hide it so that his "dearest" cousin wouldn't find it and start a witch hunt. Barry acted carefully and tried not to attract unnecessary attention.

Now the boy was sitting in the closet, carefully rereading the letter. It said that he had been enrolled in a school of witchcraft and wizardry, and there was a huge list of things he needed to buy for the school year. Once, in his youth, when the saga about the Boy Who Lived was hugely popular, Barry read all the books and waited for the films to come out. He even dreamed of receiving that very letter from Hogwarts, even though he knew it would never happen, and later, with his super speed, he got his share of magic anyway.

Now he holds that letter in his hands, the real thing, but Barry doesn't feel the childlike joy he would have felt if he had received it much earlier. Rather, he feels uncertain, because he doubts he will be able to keep his true identity a secret for long; sooner or later, he will reveal himself. Whether by accident or not, it will happen, and then everything could go wrong.

The doorbell rang, and Barry-Harry jumped out of the closet, but it was "Aunt" Petunia who opened the door. Behind her, they saw a huge giant, whom Barry recognised as Hagrid.

"Good afternoon," the man greeted them. "I'm here to see Mr Harry Potter."

"You must have the wrong address," Petunia said, giving him a disapproving look.

"Really? Little Whinging, Privet Drive, number four. I think I looked at the house number, I can hardly have been mistaken..."

"You've got the wrong house! Get lost!" Vernon barked as he approached, but Barry darted forward.

"He's here for me!" The boy tried to look like a happy child, although he wasn't lying; he was genuinely pleased to see Hagrid.

"Here!" smiled the giant. "I wasn't mistaken. Hello, Harry. You look a little thin, I imagined you a little different. But that's okay, at least I recognised you!

Barry smiled, which was more than could be said for the rest of the family. Vernon was flushed with anger.

"Whoever you are," Dursley grabbed the boy by the arm and pulled him back. "I demand that you leave! Otherwise, I'll call the police."

 "Unfortunately, I can't..." Hagrid shrugged.

"That hurts!" Barry cried, trying to break free.

"Look at this man, Harry!" Vernon growled. "Does he look trustworthy to you?!"

"And more of your kind!" Barry couldn't help saying. Mr. Dursley let go of his hand in surprise, and the boy quickly ran into the closet and returned with a letter in his hands. He handed it to Hagrid. "You sent this to me, sir?

"Well... not exactly me, but I represent that man.

"Petunia, call the police!" Vernon shouted.

The woman was just about to go into the living room when the door suddenly closed in front of her, and she cried out in surprise.

"How dare you!" Vernon continued to rant.

"This boy has been enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" Hagrid began menacingly. "Since birth. Like his parents, he is a talented wizard. And you will not prevent me from taking him, especially since Mr Potter himself is only too happy about it.

"My parents were wizards?" Barry acted according to the script.

"Yes!" smiled the giant. "And what wizards they were..."

Petunia Dursley's exasperated sigh could be heard throughout the hallway, so Barry looked at her. The annoyance in her eyes was clear.

"What?" she snapped indignantly. "Yes, your parents were wizards! My precious sister was a witch! Oh, Mum and Dad were so proud when they found out. 'We have a witch in the family — how wonderful! Only I understood who she really was — a lunatic! And then she met this Potter and gave birth to you. And I knew you would turn out just as strange! Just as abnormal..." She uttered the last words with particular disgust. "And then she left, and they simply destroyed her, and you fell into our lives!"

"You said my parents died in a car accident!" Barry continued to follow the script; after all, what else could he do?

"What?!" Hagrid exclaimed indignantly. "Lily and James died in a car accident?! That's outrageous!"

"Well, I had to say something..." Petunia justified herself.

 "This is scandalous!

"He's not going anywhere!" Vernon shouted. "When we took him in, we swore we'd put an end to all this nonsense!

"And of course, no one asked me!" Barry was now acting on his own. He had endured this treatment for all these days and was no longer willing to continue.

"We wanted to protect you," Vernon lowered his voice slightly.

"Protect me? With lies?!" Barry shook his head. "Well, if you really wanted to protect me, you wouldn't have kept me in a closet when you have a spare room that you've filled with Dudley's toys!

"Hey!" Dudley, who had been silent until now, protested.

"How awful!" Hagrid wailed. "Professor McGonagall was right when she said you shouldn't have taken him! You're monsters! Even He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named wouldn't do that."

"Well, I would argue with that," Barry said quietly so that no one could hear him.

"You know what?" Vernon said suddenly. "If you want to go with that lunatic, then by all means. But you're not coming back to this house! Enough of your eccentricities! You're not staying here any longer!" "Yes, please!" Barry cried and ran out of the house.

He stopped near the street, where Hagrid caught up with him.

"Merlin's beard!" cried the giant. "I'm amazed! How can anyone be so nasty...

"By the way," Barry wiped away a tear. "You never introduced yourself."

"Ah, yes..." The giant held out his hand. "Rubeus Hagrid. Keeper of the Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts."

Barry shook his hand. Well, the fun was just beginning.
