Chapter 39 - Return to the Old World

Volume 2 , Chapter 19: Return to the Old World

A surge of energy tore through Cael's consciousness.

> "Master… what is happening?" Selene asked, her shadowy form materializing beside him.

> "We are… being sent back," Cael said calmly.

"To my old world. The one overrun by monsters, the one abandoned by hope."

The scenery shifted violently. Mountains crumbled under the weight of unseen horrors, rivers ran red with blood, and in the distance, monsters of every shape and size roamed freely, hunting humans and magical beings alike.

> "This… is your world?" Selene whispered, eyes wide.

"It's… horrifying."

> "Yes," Cael said quietly.

"And tonight… it will remember me."

The First Cleansing

They descended into the nearest village, where survivors humans and magic-wielders were hiding behind broken walls. Many were wounded, some had given up hope entirely.

> "Do not be afraid," Cael said, stepping forward.

"We are here to cleanse this world… and protect those who still have a chance."

Monsters howled from the forest, their glowing eyes like embers in the dark. Cael and Selene moved as one, shadows and atomic resonance coiling around them.

A massive beast, towering over the trees, charged.

Cael whispered, "Absolute Atomic… Multiversal Slash."

The beast was sliced into fragments across multiple dimensions at once, its body disintegrating before it even realized it had been struck.

Selene followed, her shadow blades slicing through smaller monsters with surgical precision.

> "They will fear the night," Cael said calmly.

"And they will remember… me."

Collapse and Discovery

After a long and brutal battle, the two collapsed from exertion. Their energy had been immense, but the monsters had been relentless.

Survivors cautiously approached the pair as night fell.

> "Are… are you gods?" one whispered.

"No… they are something far beyond," another muttered.

But before anyone could speak further, Cael stirred, his aura quietly returning.

> "Night falls," he said softly.

"And with it… they will die."

Night of Absolute Atomic Cleansing

As darkness enveloped the world, Cael and Selene moved silently through forests, plains, and mountains. Shadows coiled like living storms, atomic energy slicing through monster after monster.

Entire packs of predators dissolved before they could strike.

Even the largest, most ancient beasts crumbled under Absolute Atomic strikes.

Selene's shadow blades moved with him, slicing through smaller creatures in perfect synchronization.

By the end of the night, no monster remained within sight of the surviving villages. The ground was littered with the remnants of their former terror, and yet not a single survivor had been harmed.

Return to the Shadow Sanctuary

As the first rays of dawn touched the horizon, Cael and Selene vanished. They returned to the Shadow Sanctuary, leaving the cleansed world behind.

> "Master… your old world…" Selene said quietly.

"It is free. But the energy… it was immense."

> "Yes," Cael said calmly.

"It is no longer a world of monsters. And it will never threaten the multiverse again. Absolute Atomic ensures that."

The Shadow Sanctuary hummed with residual energy from their night-long battle. Even the Seven Shadows felt the reverberations across dimensions.

> "This is only one world," Cael said, gazing at the multiverse.

"There are countless more… and all must remember me."

The survivors of his old world would never know who had saved them, but the monsters of that world had learned fear, and Absolute Atomic had left its mark.
