Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 Umbrella's Priorities Are All Wrong

Regarding Rosen and the others' suggestions, Nan Lixiang and the rest had no objections, or rather, they couldn't have any objections.

After all, compared to those who had died, their continued survival was a blessing in disguise.

They would follow all of these people's arrangements.

Sakura Megumi and the other girls also smoothly integrated with Saya Takagi and her group.

After all, as a modern Chinese teacher at Fujimi Academy, she was known by these students.

The girls began to huddle together for warmth.

Seizing this time, Rosen called upon the group members in the group chat to discuss the next steps.

Shepherd: "Let's discuss what we should do after the Umbrella Corporation people arrive."

Fallen Angel: "Of course, we should humanely destroy them! The Umbrella Corporation is simply scum among scum! They turned the world into this, yet they show no remorse! Instead, they continue to conduct experiments!"

Magic Old Man: "Indeed, I don't quite understand why they would do this. As fellow humans, what benefit is there for them in destroying the world?"

Hell's Fubuki: "Under normal circumstances, that's true. As a capitalist multinational corporation, Umbrella's primary goal should be to make money."

This was something Hell's Fubuki, living in modern society, completely failed to grasp.

Any company aims for profit.

To make a profit, people must purchase the products the company manufactures.

The public and national governments are the main consumers.

But with the whole world infected with zombies, who would buy your products?

Isn't this putting the cart before the horse?

Bad Woman: "Not entirely. Perhaps Umbrella has other goals, too? For example… the evolution of human life."

Bad Woman: "I remember the information Gabriel sent mentioned that Umbrella's original purpose was to develop a drug for immortality, but the T Virus was just a byproduct."

Fallen Angel: "So, they messed up, right?"

Bad Woman: "Who knows."

Shepherd: "Thinking so much is pointless. Perhaps Umbrella's high-ranking officials aim to rule the world. First, they destroy the world with the virus, then they freeze themselves, and after decades or centuries, they awaken to become the Adam and Eve of the new world."

This was not impossible.

At least in the movie version of the world, some of Umbrella's high-ranking officials held this goal, allowing the virus to wreak havoc globally.

Most of the biological weapons were controlled by the Umbrella Corporation.

Moreover, zombies, even if infected with a virus, should have died after a few decades.

After all, the virus in Resident Evil is somewhat scientific, unlike the zombies in Return of the Living Dead.

The former still adheres somewhat to science, while the latter can jump around even as mere skeletons, completely beyond the realm of known science.

Hell's Fubuki: "Indeed, the Umbrella Corporation's objectives are meaningless to us; we just need to eliminate them completely."

Shepherd: "Soon, the Umbrella Corporation will send people to pick us up. We should be taken directly to their headquarters. At that time, we'll find the high-ranking officials, control them, and read their minds. Frieren, you should be able to do that with magic, right?"

Magic Old Man: "I think so, but I haven't used it in a long time, and using this magic on humans might carry risks."

Shepherd: "There's no need to be so merciful to the culprits who destroyed the world. Treat them like your demons."

Magic Old Man: "I'm getting angry now."

Shepherd: "Once we figure out the company's global distribution, you should know what to do, right?"

Fallen Angel: "Humanely destroy.jpg."

Fallen Angel: "I'll be very merciful to them, hehe."

Hell's Fubuki: "That doesn't sound merciful at all, coming from an angel."

Fallen Angel: "Hmph! Those people only make rice more expensive by living."

Rosen remained noncommittal.

It was hard to say that there were many good people within the Umbrella Corporation, from top to bottom.

Time passed minute by minute during their chat.

Soon after.

The sound of helicopter blades rotating came from the sky.

The sleeping girls immediately woke up.

Sakura Megumi and her group, as well as Saya Takagi and her friends, showed a hint of excitement on their faces.

Could it be that the Japanese government was still operating and had dispatched troops for rescue?

However, Yuriko Takagi, standing by the window, frowned deeply.

"It's not a rescue team; it's the Umbrella Corporation's people."

The aircraft, resembling an Osprey transport plane, had a striking red and white Umbrella logo on its fuselage.

There were a total of four aircraft, and three of them were clearly equipped with heavy firepower.

The roar of the planes attracted a large horde of zombies.

But before they could get close, they were torn to shreds by the Gatling gun's metal storm.

Perhaps it was to show off their military might, or perhaps a warning to Rosen and the others not to act rashly.

One of them even fired an air-to-ground missile, and its immense power directly destroyed a building.
