Chapter 261 - Chapter 261 The Primordial Spirit Doesn't Want to Leave

Just a few days had passed, and Mio could not only communicate normally with Rosen and Tokisaki Kurumi but had also learned multiple languages.

The best way to quickly improve cognition is to interact more with the outside world.

Coupled with Mio's high Comprehension Ability, she learned most common sense besides languages, and under Rosen's guidance, she recognized the preciousness of life.

In the original work, Mio didn't know the preciousness of life, which is why she didn't treat anyone other than Mana Takamiya as human.

After all, after the Eurasian Great Disaster, large and small spacequakes continued for six months before ending.

"Mio, although life is precious, you also need to know that there are many people in this world who don't deserve to live."

"For example, those who intentionally harm innocent people. If you encounter such people in the future, don't hold back; just act according to your heart."

Rosen certainly wouldn't teach Mio to be a saint.

Knowing good from evil, love from hate—that's the judgment a normal person should have 24/7.

"But how do I tell who's innocent and who isn't?"

Mio asked, puzzled.

"You'd need to investigate the truth behind each case. If you had mind-reading, of course, it would be simple."

Rosen said.

Time slipped by unnoticed. The more Rosen taught, the more mature Mio's outlook became.

Yet lectures and hands-on lessons could only lay a Foundation.

To truly grow up, she would have to experience life for herself.

All of that needed the sediment of time; Rosen was in no hurry.

After all, apart from her education, the top priority right now was still accomplishing Tokisaki Kurumi's goal.

So Rosen switched focus and began training Mio to master her power.

"Your strength is enormous—second only to mine in this world. To keep you from hurting people by accident, I'll drill you until that power feels like second nature."

Besides letting Mio understand herself, the training would also make it far easier for her to craft new spirit crystals once she had full control.

To train her, he first had to catalogue what she could do.

Takamiya Mio, the very first Spirit, was undeniably mighty and all-capable.

Her First Angel was called Myriad Saints Hall, a devastating offensive skill.

Rosen had her grasp and then display it.

Mio closed her eyes. A colossal blossom bloomed from the Void Realm, space quivering under the Spirit energy as though it might tear open at any instant.

The flower unfurled slowly, releasing a fragrance Rosen had never smelled before—something like a girl's natural scent.

Layer upon layer of petals stretched in every direction, radiating brilliant, dazzling Spirit light.

A single breath of that aroma refreshed the soul.

Rosen knew, however, that Myriad Saints Hall was far more than mere beauty.

"This is your offensive Angel. The pollen it releases can rot all things in an instant, and the bud can fire energy blasts; at maximum output it could raze a city, so always watch your force."

"Okay…"

Mio nodded slowly.

Rosen noticed the blossom had fully opened, revealing the heart of the flower.

Instead of a pistil, there stood a tiny blonde girl, arms crossed, bare above the waist and fused below with the flower's core.

The girl was named Manyuri, the heroine of the theatrical movie.

Perhaps because she had only just been born, Manyuri had yet to awaken.

Rosen planned to meet her later.

He then moved on to teach Mio her remaining abilities.

Her second Angel was named Ain Soph.

When she invoked it, a gigantic tree-shaped Angel appeared in the void behind her.

Brilliance branched out like leaves, and within the split trunk sat a pink-haired, crimson-eyed girl—Shido's derivative-game heroine, Yuzuru Rinne (Yuzuru Rinne).

Like Manyuri, she was still asleep.

Under the tree's radiance, the world around them lost its colors, reduced to simple black and white.

"This is your Law Angel. By extending its roots it can spread a personal Domain, rewriting reality into the Neighbor World. Inside that paradise you may alter every Law; within it you are almost omnipotent."

The ability reminded Rosen of the "Kingdom" quanta he had ignited.

After lighting Esdeath as his quanta, Rosen had awakened the power to pour out his own energy, erode the outer world, and remake it into his divine kingdom.

Within that sacred realm he too was all-knowing and near-omnipotent.

Mio's Ain Soph felt like a junior version of his god-kingdom.

"Omnipotent?"

Mio looked at Rosen in puzzlement.

"It means you can do anything."

"A-anything…"

At that thought Mio lowered her gaze.

A second later Rosen felt a strange force trying to affect him.

"Mio, what are you doing?"

The power posed no threat to him, so Rosen made no aggressive move; he simply wanted to know her intention.

He trusted she meant no harm—he was only curious.

"I-I'm sorry!"

Caught, Mio hastily apologized, flustered.

Tears welled at her eyes; her hands clenched together like a child caught misbehaving.

"I… I didn't want to hurt you, I… I just wanted us to be closer."

Rosen didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Yet given her current temperament, it was exactly the sort of thing she would try.

"Silly child, we don't need any outside help to grow closer."

He stroked her head as he spoke.

"But… but it feels like you might vanish any second, so I don't want that—I want to stay with you forever, Rosen!"
