Chapter 3 - Ch.3 More Training

3 Years later (he's 7)

POV: MC

I have been on that GRIND. I spend every day training. Lessons have slowly been phased out since I've learned all that stuff already—no point in teaching the same thing. The only lesson I'm getting is Japanese since I have been sponsored by the government.

It seems that they want to build ties with us due to the expansion of their industries, like support equipment and other high-tech industries outpacing supplies in Asia. So I got my ticket to the plot, but I had to earn my place in history, so I couldn't slack off.

I've practically become an expert at shifting while also being comfortable in my lion form. Aura now flows smooth enough to mold and use expressions of it with difficulty—stuff like Ren were simple: either stoke the flames of my aura to increase my strength and defense.

Zetsu was a natural action of predator and prey, so it wasn't like I actually had to learn that—it was ingrained in me. (I know I didn't mention Ten, but that's like the norm for him, not something he had to exactly learn.)

But more precise applications were still not practical at this stage. Things like Gyo were possible but taxing due to the control I needed to maintain it around my eyes. Let's not even mention Shu or other applications. I can only assume Nen isn't very stable at young ages (he's coping), but I'm still happy with the progress nonetheless.

My growth has been exponential. I'm only seven, but I look like a ten-year-old—a very tall ten-year-old. I'm five feet tall already. My muscles were already developed due to constant training.

Since last year, I started doing resistance training, mostly compound stuff like deadlifts, military press, and squats—personal favorites of mine—but it was monitored by my father to be balanced across the body. With the increase of strength, I had to double down on my combat training to ensure that my body didn't adapt poorly to training (lots of people build muscle in ways that limit more intense motions, which can lead to strain and even tears). So I started training with the teenagers.

POV: 3RD PERSON

Two kids stood in a pit surrounded by people cheering. The trainer raised his hand and yelled to signify the start of the fight.

Adekunle (I'm going to just use Ade, I think) rushed toward his opponent. He threw a punch toward his opponent, who parried it easily, then did a high kick aiming for the side of his head. With quick reaction, Ade ducked and looked at his opponent with disappointment.

"Come on, man, you gotta be faster than this."

The boy was instantly rage-baited into a frenzy. He proceeded to send a flurry of jabs toward Ade, who proceeded to block them like that one Reggie meme (you know what I'm talking about :).) As the last one was blocked, Ade knocked the kid down with a sweep of his legs.

"Is this the best you got?" Ade looked at the teacher with confusion.

"That's the worst one. Don't worry about having no competition here," he responded with a bit of annoyance in his words. He snapped his fingers, and the boy was taken out of the pit while a girl gracefully leaped into the arena. She was like all the others—her face a shape in the middle of a cat and human, with the ears and tail to boot. She held herself way better than the boy.

The teacher didn't wait long before he started the match. She shot forward just like Ade did.

POV: MC

As we got close, she didn't telegraph what she was going to do. We were getting close, so I decided to make the first move. I threw a punch, seeing what she would do. Instead of blocking, she dodged to the right and threw a punch at my face.

I quickly used my left hand and grabbed her forearm before it could connect—she wasn't shocked by it.

"Why don't we get a bit more serious now."

It wasn't a question; it was a statement. She didn't say anything. Instead, she jumped back and got into a lowered position. She pounced, and the ground compressed under the force.

Her speed was fast—she was in front of me in less than a second. I sidestepped, making her land on the wall, readying into another pounce. Before she could, I closed the distance, making a pounce impractical. She readied herself, preparing to counter.

I threw a jab at her, which she quickly redirected and went for a jab at the gut, which I responded to by blocking the punch, grabbing her fist, and pulling her close to me. I pulled her in so her head was at a perfect angle to wrap my arm around her neck and abdomen. I then proceeded to suplex her. I held her in a choke till she tapped out.

This continued with more fights—with people who didn't underestimate me. It was pretty fun having people who weren't super weak to fight. No fights were losses, but it wasn't a piece of cake; some were actually helpful.

3 Years Later

I finally hit those beautiful double digits. I was oh so close to my goal. I earned it, and my training did wonders.

I was once again bigger than those of my age. I looked like fourteen—a big-ass fourteen-year-old with the muscles to back it up. My beastification was practically mastered; only experience could make it better. And aura was getting more and more powerful every day.

My applications of aura were more refined—Gyo, Ko, Ryu, and En weren't problems anymore; they could be done with minimal difficulties. And Haki was pretty good too—it was more of a support to Nen, but certain things did need to be trained. Things like internal destruction needed separate practice to work on, while things like Conqueror's Haki worked in tandem with En if I wanted to use it.

This was my whole life, pretty much: train, learn Japanese, and sleep. I didn't do much else. There wasn't any reason to do anything else.

Sure, I did enjoy family time, but that was a given (most of that was training). But at the end of the day, my slice-of-life mumbo jumbo would come in due time. All I had to do was let time fly.
