Chapter 1 - Home?

'Where am I?'. I blinked for a moment before looking around the surroundings, noticing that the surrounding reality isn't… quite set in as I know. 'Don't tell me I somehow woke up in an anomalous dimension…' I sigh and was about to rub my forehead when I noticed something.

I hear laughing and loud banter to my right, 1 minute away from me. Not only that, but I face the direction of the noises and realize where I am. "Ah… A dream…"

A group of high-school kids, around 173cm, are clamouring about different topics, their faces all blurred out, all but one kid. He seems to be the tallest by 4 cm, wearing a black hoodie that has a music logo in front. His wide grin as he proudly tells them about things that I don't remember anymore, his short curly hazelnut hair ruffles in the wind. They were walking toward me, and yet, I didn't move or react. I stare in silence as they walk through me like a ripple, away from the busy street and toward the hazelnut boy house.

"I don't remember their names anymore…" I murmur melancholic before the surrounding area suddenly twists and warps into darkness, I stare calmly as my surroundings slowly change into the basement of the hazelnut boy. He's sitting in front of a monitor, his friends shushing and reading a wiki site around him. "Hey, hey. What would you do if Shy Guy pop up?", a scrawny kid challenged them, and it slowly turned into a massive debate which others made fun of and had fun.

"If SCP foundation really does exist, why would they allow a wiki? It's obvious that it's fictional.", "Obviously they do it, hiding in plain sight is the way to go!", "He's got a point you know if the foundation has things that allow humans to never learn the foundation's existence, what is the point of plain sight? The wiki is obviously fictional." They laugh, fight and read more entries.

I smile softly at the sight, sitting on the sofa as I enjoy this small moment. I closed my eyes for a moment, and my surroundings changed once again.

The cities are in ruins, fires dance like mayhem all around. There's the same hazelnut boy again, but this time, he's taller and older. He already came of age a few weeks ago, but there's no point of a birthday by that time. He's in the middle of a grass field, both of his knees on the ground as he stares at the night sky. Admiring the beauty of the universe, if you ignore the cracks of reality forming in the universes, threatening to destroy everything.

"Are you really sure you want to be my kin?", The hazelnut boy turns away from the sky and toward a humanoid entity to his right, they don't seem to be male or female, wearing a black formal wear with a mask on his face. The mask is fully white. There are no holes for their eyes or nose, only the engraved sun cantered on their mask. "There's no turning back, you'll suffer for all eternity… You can still die as a human, so are you really sure you want to be my kin?" The boy stares at the humanoid before speaking, "█ ███ ██ ██ ███ ████."

The humanoid stares for a while before sighing with a hint of sadness and regret for something entirely unknown. The engraved sun starts to slowly fade away before they reach toward their mask and slowly remove it from their face. The mask is now fully blank with no engraving as they offer the mask toward the boy. "You may be the last one with this mask… You'll be all alone… You won't ever go back to being mortal…", they sigh with a resigned expression that spoke untold history. "I am sorry."

The boy smiled softly and replied "███'█ ██ ███, █████ ███." The boy took the mask gently before placing it on his face. I stared at the scene with a pained expression for some time before turning away, the starry sky finally broke as everything fell down. Ending the very universe, I once was born in.

I gasp sharply as I woke up, staring at the same reinforced metal ceiling I know. "Great…" I sat up and stretched my limbs out of my comfy bed. The place I have is quite nice and comfy. I have a TV with consoles, games and a sofa. There's even a gym! Although I have no use for such things. "Heh…" I stand up and do my daily stretches, ignoring the obvious cameras around my room. After 10 minutes of stretching, I walk toward my personal bathroom to take a shower and wash my hands. Even though I don't sweat or smell like normal humans do, it's quite nice having mortal behaviour… Keeps me grounded.

15 minutes gone by, I step out of the shower and snap my finger, drying myself in an instant as cotton robes wrap around my body. "Ah… I love this feeling. ~" When I arrive in front of my mirror, I stare at my star engraved white mask on my face as I smirk cheekily.

"Are you a star? Well, I am~", I point my finger gun at my reflection for several seconds before chuckling. I prepare the toothbrush with toothpaste like normal humans brush their teeth, it looks weird because the toothbrush goes through my mask and into my mouth, even though there's no hole in my mask. Almost like my mask doesn't really exist, but it does, actually. After finishing up with brushing my teeth and spitting out my saliva with water.

"Hm…" I glance above at something that isn't really there physically "Look like they'll ask for my help soon…" I shorten the 'space' in front of me to bring myself across the room and to plop onto my sofa and put on a short film.

53 minutes later, the intercom comes to life with a slight static. "Good morning, SCP-8874. We require your insight on these anomalous properties we discovered. Please don't teleport across the site like last time, use the button to alert us that you're ready, and we will bring you there."

I glance at the camera and sigh disappointed, "Really? Come on… where's the fun in that?" I get up and walk toward the door disappointed.
