Chapter 2 - "You are all property"

Elen-nor, my lips parted just slightly as my voice came out raspy. Then--I heard the laughter of the men. I slightly opened my eyes to see them towering down upon me--I couldn't really make out their faces as my vision was quite blurry. Then I heard one of them say: Τον άκουσες; did you hear him? their tone suggested their mockery of my now self. Elenor! Elenor! they then threw their heads back and laughed out loud. I clenched my fist and stared up at them--Then he crouched down. "There is no Elenor here, boy "he said, his face inches from mine.

I slightly gagged at his breath then spat right on his stupid face. The man stared at me furiously. He then raised his wrist and connected it to my face. I shrieked in pain, as I clutched my face-I then glanced around at the others. Though no one spoke up-they were all terrified.

I can sense it by their quick, worried glances to me-their eyes spoke as if telling me to shut up and obey. Marcus, the man then turned to another, teach him some manners, he murmured. He nodded and then he grabbed me by my shoulders. I struggled to push him away. get up! he says in a loud voice.

The children around me then shivered. I glanced them and at the man Infront of me-I WON"T OBEY YOU! I yelled out. Marcus then grabbed me and pinned me--Listen here you little rat, "you are a property" I looked at him fiercely, my hands clenched as I noticed my knuckles turning white. he then let me go and ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair.

He then turned to the others, LISTEN ALL OF YOU! FROM NOW ON YOU ARE ALL A PROPERTY! THE ONLY THING THAT MUST BE IN YOUR MIND IS TO SERVE OUR MIGHTY EMPROR AGUSTUS!! he then glanced at me then returned to continue, IF THERE IS OTHER THINGS ON YOUR MIND THEN REST ASSURED--WE WON"T THINK TWICE BEFORE THROWING YOU ALL IN THE DEAD SEA! He ended. Everyone nodded quickly no one dared to say otherwise.

---

Weeks gone by--Soon we reached the dock.

The chatter of the people inside was unbearable--Few glanced outsides, their faces bright with hope--at the sky. Ay look at that! a little girl pointed to the window--Her mother then gazed out too--Though unlike her daughter--her eyes did not sparkle with that same excitement.

I gazed at her-as if to read whatever going on her mind--I know...what she was thinking--And no... I wouldn't wish that for even my enemy.

Vjaceslav? I glanced up to a boy my age--His hazel gaze on mine. I traced his ragged cloth--and his unkept hair. His soon reached out his arm--"Get up, we arrived "I glanced at his hand--then took it. He then smiled easily--revealing a pair of dimples. I glanced at him blankly.

How did you know my name? I asked. He ruffled his hair back--"Well I just asked a few people" He replied. he then smiled all giddy--I love how you talked to Marcus!

I smiled proudly--"He deserve it "I murmured low--As if Marcus could hear us from outside-Then we continued talking.

As soon as we stepped out--The air shifted--Perhaps it was because of the ship's environment--Nevertheless, I was dumbstruck by the music and the markets. were swiftly taken to the markets. They cleaned off then gave us some old, ragged clothes. We were told to quickly put it on and that buyers may come. I felt a lump in my heart as I took a hold of the shirt. Then an old men ushered us to quickly put it on.

Soon we were displayed outside the market--I kept my head low in shame. Цього б ніколи не сталося, якби вас обох тут не було. This would have never happened if you both were here; I murmured as I fought back against the tears that swelled up on my eyes.

Pov: Florentinus Angelus, Walked. as the sun rippled through the city of Byzantium (Constantinople) Which was the capital.

I greeted the street vendors as I made my way to the "market" Soon the cries became imminent. I looked around--Children everywhere, Women, Girls, boys. I then caught a particular boy who seemed to be doing nothing at all. not crying nothing, he just had his head low. My curiosity got the best of me as I began to walk towards him. I then stood Infront of him. His brown hair hovered over his gaze.

I patted his hair--What's your name boy? I asked. I waited for a response, but I never got one. My eyebrows jointed as I asked him again. he then lifted his head and just stared at me, dazed. His ocean-blue eyes seemed to be troubled.

He then opened his mouth to talk--But nothing came. I then noticed his face which seemed t be scarred. I turned to the man who bought them here. Μάρκε, έτσι αντιμετωπίζεις την περιουσία του αυτοκράτορά μας; (Marcus! is this how you treat our Emperor's property?) Marcus's eyebrows furrowed then he followed my hands and where I pointed-It was the boy. Marcus sighed, so you met the little devil? he asked, letting out a forced chuckle.

Devil? what? this kid? I looked at him like he was crazy, then asked him for his price. Marcus looked at me, his eyes widening, Μπορείς να τον έχεις δωρεάν! (you can have him for free!) he then quickly got the boy.

he then stood Infront of me, innocently. What's his name? I asked to Marcus. He shrugged. I then crouched down beside him--My hands reaching out to him. He quickly flinched and instinctively held my hands. I tilted my head then patted his back. He shot me a look, his innocent eyes wide as if this was new to him.

I read his face, "you remind me so much of myself" I murmured. I shall name you Julias Stefanos-My Grandfather's name. The boy looked me and nodded--Though I don't think he understood anything that I said other than the name.

Pov:Vjaceslav:I soon heard footsteps-perhaps a little too close to me. Then I felt someone standing right Infront of me--It was a man--He was handsome. Judging by his appearance-He looked like he worked for the emperor. He then calmly asked me something--I didn't look at him. I didn't want my tear-drenched face to be looked at by a stranger.

Though soon his voice became more irritated, and I just gazed at him. He looked at me back, surprised. I wonder why? is it because of my scars? Maybe. He then went over to Marcus-The man who slapped me. They were talking for a bit-I didn't dare look at them. Though soon Marcus came and grabbed me and got me to him.

The man then crouched down Infront of me and his hands were reaching out to me--I flinched because I didn't want what happened back in the ship to happen again. Not again, not right now. He then seemed to be confused as he tilted his head and said something in his language.

Then he said, Julias Stefanos, which seemed to be a name, perhaps it's mine?
