Chapter 52 - Chapter 49

Early the next morning, Lock gathered Mt. Lady, Kamui Woods, Death Arms, and Sirius. The five of them headed toward the district beside U.A. High—the location of his parents' former agency.

Milin—Kamui Woods—tilted his head back and froze.

"This… this entire skyscraper was your parents' office?"

At least thirty stories tall, it towered over everything in sight.

"I feel like joining your agency is the best decision I've ever made…"

Mt. Lady's eyes glittered with naked financial ambition.

Death Arms and Sirius nodded vigorously.

"A-hem. Don't get carried away."

Lock tapped a finger on the exterior glass. "See the top floor?"

"Yeah?"

"That floor—and the rooftop above it—belongs to us."

Everyone: "…"

Mt. Lady snapped upright. "Wait—so not the whole building?"

Lock sweatdropped. "Obviously not. It's an office tower. My parents only bought the penthouse floor and roof."

Don't look at me like I deceived you. You people were the ones imagining entire skyscrapers.

And even if he did have a massive inheritance, buying an entire building—land included—was unrealistic.

Especially considering the actual building owner: the Yaoyorozu Conglomerate.

Its heiress? Yaoyorozu Momo.

"You all know my parents were Dragon-type Heroes. They had the rooftop modified so the panels could open whenever they transformed to fly out."

Lock led the group inside. The building manager—who already had a scheduled appointment—greeted him warmly.

As a middle-schooler carrying a briefcase full of legal documents, Lock expected to be underestimated.

Instead, the manager personally escorted him, respectful and unfailingly polite.

His parents' legacy still carried weight.

The re-registration went smoothly. Lock regained full rights to the top floor and rooftop access.

The building's security personnel would be provided free; cleaning staff he'd have to hire himself.

"Alright. Next is the staff dormitory."

He walked ahead—until he realized the others weren't following.

"Let me guess—you're expecting another luxury penthouse floor with personal suites?"

Mt. Lady nodded.

Lock sighed. "No. It's a full university dormitory building."

After a short walk, they reached an old campus area. Lock pointed to a renovated five-story dorm.

Twenty single rooms per floor. A hundred rooms total.

His parents had bought the entire block back when the university relocated.

He linked telepathically with Virgo.

Moments later, Virgo stepped out of the dorm entrance—maid uniform, broom in hand.

She bowed with perfect grace.

"Welcome, Master. I inspected every room and opened all windows for ventilation."

All four Heroes: "…Master?"

"Ahem—this is Virgo. A maid my parents left behind." Lock said smoothly.

Virgo nodded solemnly. "And the Master disciplines me daily—"

Lock lunged and slapped a hand over her mouth.

Everyone stared at him with expressions that grew more questionable by the second.

They inspected a random room—simple but comfortable, about thirty square meters.

Single bed, desk, private bathroom, kitchenette, and enough space for a fridge and wardrobe.

Perfect for Hero staff.

Since Virgo couldn't possibly maintain the entire building herself, Lock had hired a professional cleaning crew to arrive that afternoon.

Leaving Virgo to supervise, he took the other four to meet Prosecutor Yanai Takefumi at a nearby café.

Yanai arrived promptly.

He glanced behind Lock, eyebrows lifting.

"…You've already recruited four Pro Heroes?"

"They were my teammates during the exam, so I invited them afterward." Lock shook his hand with a smile.

Yanai remembered them from the live broadcast and nodded politely before ushering everyone inside.

Lunch came first. Then business.

Lock opened his briefcase, laying out every required document.

Yanai examined each item carefully.

"Perfect. You've got everything. Now it's just a matter of filing at the Commission and registering online."

Then they drafted:

preliminary Hero-employment contracts

salary structures

benefits

insurance

duration

penalty clauses

Yanai's assistance was thorough. Lock could tell the man wasn't simply honoring a favor—he genuinely believed in Lock's future.

Like an investor spotting a rising star.

The feeling was mutual. Lock trusted him.

And so, still inside the café, they signed another document:

Yanai Takefumi became the official legal adviser of the Sorcerer Agency.
