Chapter 4 - First Blood

This trait is... fucking insane, Null whispered to himself, feeling that fire inside him growing. Null-Command had broken every rule so far. If he couldn't make it in this world with this power, then he really was as doomed as the doctors said. And honestly deserve it all.

"No more waiting around," he said, gripping the Frostfang Sword tighter. Time to kill some monsters and level up.

The sun was starting to go down, making everything look orange. Dust kicked up around his boots from the dry field. The wind made the grass move and he could hear weird bug sounds. The light hit his armor just right, making it shine. For the first time in forever, he didn't feel heavy. Not cause his body was fixed, but because he finally had something to fight for.

"Alright buddy," Null said, looking at the little dragon on his shoulder. "Lets see what this dragon can really do."

First things he saw were some [Corrupted Goats]. They had black fur that looked kinda evil, with red eyes and sharp horns. Not exactly scary monsters, but you gotta start somewhere. At least its not them slime things he normally sees in these types of games. They looked kind of too cute to kill for his liking.

Null smiled. "Good for practice." Lets see what this baby can do holding the Sword.

He stepped forward and swung his sword. The Frostfang Blade cut right through the first goat like butter. It made a dumb noise and disappeared. Another one charged him, but he moved aside and sliced its neck easy. Not bad for an beginner.

The dragon jumped off his shoulder, its tail glowing as it smashed into another goat, sending it flying. Dust went everywhere. They are definitly not in the same category.

"Whoa, careful there little guy," Null said, laughing. "Don't wanna get hit by that."

They worked together pretty good. Null would swing his sword while the dragon flew around smashing things. The sun made his armor and the dragon's scales shine. It felt... right. It felt new. Leo enjoyed this freedom to do the things he always dreamed about.

They kept going for like an hour, killing goats, some weird rabbits, and even this jelly thing that exploded when he poked it which was the slime he talked about. Each fight made them work better together. The dragon wasn't just some dumb pet—it was smart, like it knew what to do. Wouldn't expect anything less from the dragon heir.

After wiping slime off his armor, Null realized he was getting better. Not just his level, but actually knowing how to fight. It felt like he has been doing this for years. Maybe he was a killer in his previous life and karma caught up to him this life.

"Don't get too full of yourself," he told the dragon, who puffed smoke proudly. "We're still nobodies. Lets find something real to fight." Walking further away.

He looked toward this canyon nearby. He could hear fighting—swords clanging, people yelling, monster howling. He sneaked closer to look.

Three players were fighting this huge wolf with red fur. It was way bigger than normal wolves, with claws that dug into the ground and angry red eyes.

[Corrupted Wolf Alpha] — Bronze Boss (Lv. 10)

The players names were [BlazeRunner], [FrostQueen], and [ShadowStep], all around Level 6. I rememeber that Blazerunner who tried to show off. Well to be fair It did feel good to have all the jealousy eyes on you. So i get why people do spend money on the game as long as they can afford to.

Null watched from behind a rock. "They're gonna get wrecked..." This is a good time to kill steal.

The dragon tugged on his sleeve and made a little chirp, like it was saying to wait.

Null looked down. "You wanna watch first? See what it does?"

The dragon nodded, its golden eyes serious.

He smiled. "Just hatched and already smarter than most players."

The fight was going bad. BlazeRunner swung too hard and missed. The wolf bit his arm and he screamed, then disappeared in white light—dead and sent back to town.

"Shit! We're too low level for this!" FrostQueen yelled, backing away.

"Run!" ShadowStep shouted. "This is pointless!"

The two survivors ran away, leaving the wolf alone. It was hurt but starting to heal itself.

Null's face got serious. "Not on my watch."

He and the dragon stepped out from hiding. The wolf turned, seeing them, and growled. Null felt that mix of scared and excited.

He ran forward, sword ready. The wolf jumped at him, claws scraping on rocks. Null moved sideways and sliced at its neck, barely missing.

The dragon flew up and swung its tail hard, hitting the wolf in the side. The wolf stumbled but came back angry, trying to bite the dragon. Null moved in front, blocking with his sword.

They fought together like they'd been doing it forever. Dodge, swing, fly, hit. No numbers floating around, just pure fighting.

Finally, the wolf looked tired. It stood up on its back legs for one last attack, but the dragon breathed this shimmering energy that hit it right in the chest. The wolf collapsed and turned into red sparkles that faded away.

Null breathed out heavy. The dragon landed back on his shoulder, wrapping its tail around his arm.

"We did good," he said softly. "Real good."

Back at the canyon edge, BlazeRunner and FrostQueen watched with their mouths open. "What just happened?" BlazeRunner said. "Someone else killed it? After we died?"

"Did someone just take advantage of us" FrostQueen said, sounding shook.

Null looked at the sunset, painting everything red. For the first time since getting sick, he wasn't just existing. He was living.

Golden light glowed around him. He didn't care about being famous. He just cared about what was next. There would be bigger monsters, harder fights. But with his dragon, his skills, and Null-Command, Null knew he could handle anything.
