Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Mondstadt Main Quest in Progress

[Increases Attack by 30%. After any character attacks an enemy, the weapon gains a charge. When fully charged, it grants a strengthened Normal Attack that is guaranteed to crit and increases Crit DMG by 80%. Based on the wielder's elemental Attribute, it unleashes a cross-shaped slash. (When wielded by the Traveler, the strengthened Normal Attack's damage multiplier is increased.)]

"Ah... Is this weapon being given away for free?!" Little Fruit exclaimed, utterly stunned after reading the weapon's description.

Just moments ago, she had sworn the Traveler wasn't worth investing in, completely unlike a 5-star character. Little did she know the game developers had been holding back this trump card!

[Woah! A powerful slash with elemental damage! Just looking at the stats, you can tell it's no joke.]

[30% Attack Power bonus? I wonder if it'd work well for my Keqing.]

[Didn't you guys read the full description? It's clearly the Traveler's signature weapon.]

[No more talking, I'm logging in to claim it now! Leveling up this sword is definitely worth it!]

[Our waifu Rola still loves us!]

Little Fruit couldn't wait to finish the quest and test out the new weapon immediately!

Meanwhile, another streamer, Penguin, was also livestreaming Genshin Impact. Having already completed the quest, he was currently testing the weapon.

"Since enhanced normal attacks always crit, there's no need to stack crit rate. We can just focus on attack power and crit damage. Let's see... my Traveler is only level 20 right now, and the weapon is also level 20. The artifacts are just random placeholders. Wait and see how much damage I can dish out."

In Penguin's live stream, the Traveler Aether, wielding the Unrelenting Will, approached an Anemo Hypostasis.

He swiftly closed the distance, unleashing about seven or eight strikes. The originally golden blade glowed with a vibrant cyan light.

With another attack, the enhanced normal attack's cross-shaped slash shot directly toward the Anemo Hypostasis.

Then... Immune.

"Ugh, I forgot its attacks deal elemental-infused damage! Damn it, let's find another enemy and try again."

He located a Hilichurl Berserker and repeated the same sequence. A single enhanced normal attack cleaved away more than half of the Hilichurl Berserker's health.

The damage readout flashed: 1654!

Penguin was stunned.

The number didn't seem particularly high, but considering the circumstances—the Traveler was only level 20, and this was just a normal attack—it was remarkable. To put it in perspective, his recently acquired Diluc's ultimate could only deal around 300-400 damage, but this 1654 damage was with the Traveler alone.

"Honestly, brothers, this weapon alone makes the Traveler a must-build character!"

-

Inside the tavern, Lumine's expression became priceless the moment Rola drew her weapon.

Her mouth gaped slightly as she reached out a hand.

"Hmph! This weapon was commissioned from my best friend in Liyue. Only the finest materials were used—it cost me a whopping 20 million Mora! It was supposed to be my weapon, but then I fell in love with using spears, so this blade has just been sitting idle."

"Ah? 20 million Mora?!" Paimon gasped. She wouldn't even dare to dream of possessing such wealth, even in her wildest fantasies.

Yet Rola was casually giving away a weapon worth 20 million Mora...

"This is far too valuable! I can't accept it!" Lumine protested, waving her hands frantically in apparent refusal.

A closer look, however, revealed that while Lumine was ostensibly rejecting the gift, her hands had already cradled the weapon tightly against her chest, as if unwilling to let go.

"Heh heh, it's not like I need it anyway. The moment I saw you, Lumine, I knew it was a perfect match for you. A blade for a hero—you've done so much for Mondstadt, so don't be shy. Accept it!"

Lumine repeatedly declined, but in the end, she had no choice but to accept—overjoyed.

Venti watched the scene with a gentle smile, refraining from interrupting.

"So, um, Rola, what goodies does Paimon have?"

Little Paimon flew over, her tiny finger pointing, and Rola scooped her up, playfully rubbing her adorable cheeks.

"Come, Paimon, let's go whisper secrets upstairs!"

Excited, Paimon followed Rola upstairs. A few minutes later, they raced back down, Paimon grinning foolishly.

"Now that our two new friends have gotten gifts, what about me, your old friend? All I want is a bottle of Dandelion Wine!"

Rola naturally hadn't forgotten Lord Barbatos. She whispered a few words into his ear.

Roughly a few more minutes passed before Diluc arrived with Jean.

After some discussion, they decided to retrieve the Holy Lyre der Himmel.

Rola turned to Diluc. "Brother, please let me go! I'm really strong, nothing bad will happen! Pleeeease, pleeeease? Pretty please~"

Rola tugged on her brother's sleeve, mimicking Klee.

This behavior perfectly suited the persona of her current disguise, fitting seamlessly into the character.

Outside the Genshin Impact game, players were utterly charmed, their faces flushed with affection, unconsciously sporting smiles they hadn't even realized were there.

Diluc's lips twitched. Finally, he sighed in resignation, pressing a hand to his forehead in reluctant agreement.

As long as I'm watching over her, she won't get into too much trouble, he reasoned. Besides, Rola's not a child anymore; she needs to learn things.

"Yay!" x2

Paimon joined Rola in her enthusiastic cheer. Having just received a gift from Rola, Paimon was now completely smitten.

-

Following the group to the Fatui's camp, Rola and the others thrashed the Fatui soldiers and returned triumphantly with the Holy Lyre der Himmel.

Back at the Tavern, Rola plopped down on a chair, turned her face away, puffed out her cheeks, and pretended to be furious.

Honestly! I knew going with my brother would be pointless. One whole mission, and I didn't even get to lift a finger!

He kept saying this was for my training, but I'm actually really strong!

After a moment's reflection, Rola sighed.

During the Mondstadt Archon Quest, Barbatos followed us the whole time. It was practically impossible to cause any trouble, especially with my brother watching over me.

She decided to give up for now, resolving to look for another opportunity later. Acting too hastily wouldn't work.

After Lumine goes to Liyue, she'll probably come back, right? I remember that time... the Defiled Statue?!

Rola's heart suddenly began to pound. She still vividly remembered the shock this plot point had given her.

If I want to stir up trouble, this would be the perfect opportunity!

Now she just needed enough emotional feedback to break through the dimensional barrier and see what was happening on the players' side.

"Hey, bard, did you borrow the Holy Lyre der Himmel just to play for drunkards?" Paimon's words snapped Rola back to attention.

"Ehe~"

"What do you mean, Ehe...?!"

(spy-Ehe Te Nandayo?! )

Rola's eyes sparkled. Am I witnessing a legendary scene?!

Paimon's got guts, I'll give her that. Sister Rola approves!

-

Afterward, Rola accompanied the others to search for Dragon Tear Crystals and revive the Holy Lyre der Himmel.

Following the storyline, they arrived at Starsnatch Cliff.

Venti played the Holy Lyre der Himmel, summoning Dvalin.

Seeing Dvalin up close, Rola truly felt the oppressive weight of the dragon's presence.

The Dragon of the East Wind exuded immense power!

"You... At this point, there's nothing left to discuss..."

Venti, unusually serious, replied gently, "Is that so? Perhaps I'm mistaken? Your eyes seem to recall this melody..."

Rola quietly slipped away from behind her brother, who was focused on Venti and the dragon, remaining on high alert.

When an attack struck, she immediately summoned her spear, flames erupting from its tip to intercept the Abyss Mage's ambush.

Now that she knew this creature was lurking behind them, Rola wouldn't let the Holy Lyre der Himmel be destroyed.

The Holy Lyre was a treasure, after all. Besides, for her dear friend Barbara's sake, she had to do something.

Yet, despite protecting the Holy Lyre, Dvalin, just as in the story, clashed with Venti and flew away.

"Ba... Lord Venti, please take care of yourself."

"Ha ha, you didn't just figure out my true identity now, did you, Jean?"

"Still, thank you for continuing to call me by that name."

Rola slung her spear over her shoulder, her mind blank. The revelation that Venti was Barbatos had clearly stunned her!

Of course, this was all an act. She had to maintain her persona's character while also providing emotional value for the players.
