Lucien felt his breath leave him when he saw Devon, alive, walking through the crowded market of Magnus territory as though he had never disappeared. His posture was straighter, his clothing expensive and foreign, his aura steadier, stronger.
But the tilt of his head, the quickness of his steps, the slight hunch of his shoulders when startled… that was still Devon.
His Devon.
Lucien had followed without meaning to. His wolf howled beneath his skin, claws scraping at his bones. He hadn't planned to make his presence known, not yet. He only wanted to see him, confirm his existence with his own eyes. And then Adrian appeared in front of Devon.
Lucien froze.
