Chapter 3 - Zhang Hao Enters: The Order to Attack

After attaining the highest level of demonic power, Lu Wang, the Lord of Demons, officially ordered the invasion of the Immortal Realm. He commanded a massive army under his leadership, and for the first time, he revealed himself before the eyes of the world.

His personal goal was to conquer the Immortals—

while his soldiers aimed only for slaughter and destruction.

The Immortal Realm possessed a powerful barrier—

one that no one was capable of breaking.

But Lu Wang, whose soul had merged with his blade Qiao Tan, had the strength to shatter it.

Without hesitation, he attacked the Immortal Realm and broke their barrier.

He was unaware…

that a trap had already been set for him.

The Immortals captured him alive

and tortured him for a very long time.

They couldn't kill him—

because killing Lu Wang meant giving him the chance to be reborn even stronger.

So they waited…

waited for the person destined to end him forever.

As I narrated the story in an overly poetic storyteller voice, Han stared at me as if hypnotized.

Then I stared at him directly and continued:

"So that means… if the war starts, and I'm stuck inside Lu Wang's body, I'll have to lead the demons as their commander on the battlefield."

When I finished speaking, I looked anxiously at my friend, who was leaning against the stone wall.

Han (Zhao) finally decided to bless me with actual speech.

"How come you're acting this nervous? Aren't you Lu Wang now? Just cancel the attack order."

His words only irritated me more.

I looked at him sarcastically and snapped:

"Oh brilliant genius, why didn't you say this earlier!? Didn't even cross my mind!"

He gave me a toothy grin that evaporated when I yelled:

"You idiot, you fool! Did you even read the novel!?"

He placed his hand on his shiny black sword and said:

"Yeah… well, kind of… I didn't read it till the end."

Me: "Great. Then you should also know that BEFORE Lu Wang went into meditation, he had already issued the command for the army to prepare for war. Which means the Immortals are also ready by now."

I paced across the cold floor as I continued:

"But that's not even the main problem. The real question is—will the high-ranking officials, especially his brothers, even ACCEPT such a sudden, unexplained cancellation?"

Han (Zhao) jumped in immediately:

"Well, you can come up with a reason. Besides, you're their king now. They can't disobey your orders even if they want to."

I dragged a frustrated hand down my face and said, trying to keep my voice steady:

"Do you know WHY Lu Wang went into meditation in the first place?"

Han ran his hand over the glowing stones on the wall and replied:

"Yeah. Before that, he had a brutal fight with the Demon King. Even though he won, he was severely wounded, and his inner energy was damaged. That's why he went to the Cave of Death to recover."

I snapped my fingers.

"Exactly! And you should also know this—

The Demon Realm is one of the largest realms, home to over twenty local kingdoms, all ruled by one king—Lu Wang."

Han stared at me thoughtfully.

"So that means… he has enemies. People who want him gone."

When he finished, one of his eyebrows shot up, and he gave me a meaningful look.

Me:

"And those people are waiting for ANY opportunity. When Lu Wang returned injured, his two commanders—Zhao and Zhang Hao—were by his side, so no one dared take advantage of the situation. Besides, they didn't know how severely he was wounded."

I spun around and inhaled the bitter scent of the stone walls.

Han:

"So… if you suddenly bring up canceling the war, they'll definitely suspect something is wrong with your inner strength."

I shot him a sideways glance and nodded.

"Exactly. The only thing we CAN do is delay the battle—but we can't postpone it for too long. Meanwhile, the main goal is to stop the war completely.

But I have no idea how.

I seriously don't know what to do.

I HAVE to prevent this war, or the story won't go the way that stupid talking book wants."

I sat on the bed, rubbing my cold neck, utterly frustrated.

When I heard Han's voice, I lifted my head and looked at him.

Han (Zhao): "Maybe… there IS a way."

Me: "What way?"

He sat beside me.

"Zhao was the most trusted person to Lu Wang. And according to the memories I inherited, I have some information."

Me: "What kind of information?"

Han:

"Well… normally there's a special committee responsible for reporting all internal and external affairs to Lu Wang. However—"

I stared at him, waiting for the rest.

Han squeezed his eyes shut, shaking his head as if something was pressing on his skull.

Me: "Are you okay?"

Han (hoarse voice): "Yeah… I'm fine. Just trying to remember something."

Then he continued:

"However… this committee HID some information from Lu Wang.

Including the identity of the person capable of killing him."

My eyebrow shot up.

"Wait. Wait.

You're telling me some officials KNEW about this threat to Lu Wang's life… but never reported it!?"

Han tapped my shoulder.

"Not just SOME. Many of them knew—especially his half-brothers."

I stared at him, baffled.

"So they wanted to hand their Lord over to death!?"

Han nodded.

"Exactly. This way, they could remove the biggest obstacle without lifting a finger. Then they could rule however they wanted, without any restrictions."

I shook my head in disbelief.

"This Zhao is one hell of a demon…

But it's strange. In the novel I read, it never mentioned that the officials knew about this. It only said they didn't even TRY to rescue Lu Wang when he was captured."

Han frowned.

"Yeah, I have no idea how that makes sense.

Maybe the author wanted to keep it hidden."

I sighed and said:

"So what's the plan?"

Han smiled.

"Since the officials hid such crucial information and basically plotted Lu Wang's death, this is the PERFECT opportunity to punish them and…"

He looked at me meaningfully.

I finished his sentence:

"…and stop the war without raising suspicion."

We stared at each other for a moment—

Then burst into laughter like two idiots who solved a political crisis by accident.

But then a voice from outside froze us mid-laugh.

"Great Lord. It's Zhang Hao. I come with an urgent matter."

We stared at each other.

"Zhang Hao… Zhang Hao…"

When I recognized the name, a cold shiver crawled down my spine.

This man was one of the most ruthless characters in the novel—Lu Wang's left-hand commander.

I turned to Han.

"What the hell do we do now!?"

Han looked around in panic, then finally said:

"We… uh… should probably let him in.

Maybe it's important."

The voice came again:

"Great Lord."

Han whispered quickly:

"Hey—calm down. Stay serious. Don't smile.

If you look him in the eyes, make your gaze COLD.

And keep your voice slightly intimidating."

I stared at him nervously.

"Okay. Okay. I know what to do. Wait."

I hurried back to the bed and tried striking various "fearsome demon lord" poses.

Finally, I found one that looked decent.

I sat half-upright, leaning back, one arm on the bedrest, fingers against my temple, legs crossed.

I looked at Han—who was staring at me like I'd grown horns—and then said in my deepest intimidating tone:

"You may come in."

Nothing happened.

Except—

"Great Lord, this matter is extremely urgent."

I stared at Han in confusion.

He stared at me like I was the dumbest creature alive.

"You idiot. Your voice doesn't reach outside.

Plus, nobody but you and me can open this door."

He stomped toward the wall and placed his hand against it. The stone door slid open smoothly.

A tall man entered—

black and red robes, blond hair brushing his shoulders, tanned skin, a red mark on his forehead, and a fierce gaze.

He bowed first to Han (Zhao).

Then he approached me and knelt.

"Great Lord. I am relieved that you returned safely from your meditation."

My breath hitched.

Facing such a dangerous character nearly froze my entire body.

I stared at his chest because I didn't dare meet his eyes.

"My apologies for disturbing your rest."

I took a deep breath and recited one of Lu Wang's lines from the novel:

"Speak."

Zhang Hao lowered his head.

"The officials request an assembly. They ask that you attend and issue the official order for the attack on the Immortal Realm."

I turned toward Han in panic.

He was just as terrified.

This meant—

In a world where no one would spare us,

we had to act, deceive, and change the destiny of this entire novel.
