Chapter 1 - The Covenant

A one shot of a bad ass Spartan, idk I was bored

An Alien race so sophisticated that one of their ships could take out 10 of ours.

7-foot demons hooked up with armor and shields that could kill 5 marines by themselves.

10-foot monkeys that could rip open a tank with their bare hands.

The human race was on the back foot. Outgunned, outmaneuvered, and shit out of fucking luck

But what the aliens didn't have was the human spirit.

Or some bad ass augmented child soldiers with nothing else to do except fuck shit up.

Jalen, 227, Spartan II, dropped down on Circinius IV, Assault rifle in hand, and Blue team was just a few hours away from landing.

"Spartan 227, try to evacuate as many Civilians as you can, Blue team will be coming down soon"

The communication halted as Jalen jumped off the Pelican and towards the middle of Plantaral, the capital city.

The wind whipped against his green and blue armor as he scanned all across the city.

Fires were burning as his augmented eyesight was able to make out multiple pockets of Civilian defense holds and tons of Covenant forces strewn about all across the city.

O.D.S.T.'s had been dropped in as well, but he hadn't been able to find any of them before he crash landed onto the body of a Sangheili Zealot, crushing the alien general into a paste of orange and blue.

3 other Elites turned around as the entire force that was in the courtyard that he had just crashed into.

Yells and screams of terror mixed with upset and angry bellows as the three Elites converged, trying to avenge their leader, as almost all the grunts in the area tried to run away. The Jackles aimed their sights

The civilians who were held out in a blocked building that was on the south side of the courtyard had their designated leader, Larry, peek his head out.

A curly-headed, red-haired man proceeded to do just that, and what he saw was unbelievable.

(10 minutes prior)

Larry watched on as large blue and purple ships sent large bundles of light crashing into his city, destroying everything in their paths, and he quickly wanted to give in to the terror that filled his mind.

However, his years of hunting with his father, problem-solving skills, and leadership skills kicked in as he saw the panic set into his co-workers.

"EVERYONE QUIET DOWN!"

He yelled at the top of his lungs, and it somehow silenced most of the yelling and crying that was happening.

"Everyone block the doors! Otis has a weapon locker upstairs just in case anyone tries to rob us, Jim and Pam will run up there and grab those weapons while the rest of us block the doors now move!!!"

Some people didn't move at all, too deep in their terror and sadness to even move a muscle. But most did, Larry had activated their will to live!

Larry and almost everyone in this 80,000 square foot building started to get to work blockading and grabbing weapons.

However, it wasn't enough.

Only 3 minutes had passed since Larry had yelled before weird noises could be heard.

"Wort wort wort"

"What the hell is tha-"

Steve, a teller, would never be able to finish his sentence as a plasma bolt rocketed through the wooden door, 3 desks, and a chair to slam right into his head.

Everyone started yelling but Larry couldn't just let his entire workplace die.

He grabbed the pistol from Pam, trained it at the doors, and fired shots.

"RUN TO THE BACK DOORS AND INTO THE AUXILIARY BUILDING"

Most people were able to run but some once again were stuck in terror.

The covering fire did little good as the doors flung open sending the materials blocking it flying.

An Orange behemoth stood before Larry with a sword and a smile. Its legs twisted almost as if it were a dog.

Its Grey skin, four jaws, and eight-foot build would stay in Larry's nightmares for years to come.

The redhead booked it out of the building.

Only turning his head to see a woman being impaled by the Demon's sword.

"We are so dead"

(Present)

After they barricaded themselves again, they knew it was over; it was a lot weaker than the last one, and Larry was running out of ammo in the pistol.

Then Jaylen showed up.

"BANG"

A grenade exploded, killing 6 grunts with Brutal efficiency as the Spartan ducked under some plasma fire and dove towards an Elite.

Using the Zealot's energy sword, he crashed into another Elite and jammed the sword through its stomach.

Quickly spinning the dead Carcass around and using it as a shield Jalen rained down bullets onto the grunts and Jackles surrounding him before throwing the body at its Elite brother.

With a sprint and then a slide, dodging some plasma fire, he knocked out the feet of the 2nd last Elites and used the confusion of it all to shove his rifle into the Elite's mouth and let off some head exploding fire.

The last Elite growled and spoke. Telling the Jackles that were waiting for the right moment to fire.

A shield popped up in front of Jaylen as he threw down the Mechanism that was attached to the dead Elite's hip.

Around the cover, out popped his newly reloaded assault rifle as the bullets cracked shields and heads alike.

The last Elite watched his soldiers and allies die and fury wracked his body.

An animalistic growl and shout came out of its mandible as it rocketed towards the shield.

Jalen whipped around weaving the punch easily.

'Sloppy'

SHINK

The Elite's head dropped to the ground as did its body as Jalen looked to the side and made eye contact with Larry.

"Are there any more survivors in the building?"

His voice carried across the now quiet courtyard, and Larry shook his head with a scared expression.

"Uh... no s-sir, we are all that's left."

Jalen nodded and looked towards the west, deeper into the city.

"Captain Blane, I have civilians where is the nearest Evac?"

"Spartan, there is a space elevator in the academy 40 miles east."

"...Noted, will we be able to create another one?"

"I do not know"

"Spartan out"

Jalen stopped speaking and walked towards the building. Larry didn't back away even while shivering in terror.

"W-w who are you?"

"Spartan 227, a friend."

Larry took a deep breath and let Jalen in.

Surrounding Jalen were 30 civilians of all races, genders, and ages.

"Everyone who would like to defend themselves you can grab the weapons outside. This courtyard is a good spot, I will tell you some places to stay to try and keep it that way. I'll bring more civilians, this will he our base of operations."

It was the most Jalen has spoken in a while, but he had to try his best and save as many people as he could.

12 people walked out of the auxiliary building, 4 women and 8 men.

Outfitted with a lot better weapons than any marine had, Jalen looked around the courtyard and gave them the best vantage points to try and defend it.

"However try your very best not to attract anyone, even if they find this place, hope that they do not find you"

Larry stared at the yellow visor above him and nodded, a plasma rifle in his arms.

"Yes sir"

Jalen smirked at that.

He turned around and walked back into the city.
