Chapter 66 - Mod

"A feasible optimization plan." Osiris confirmed the viability of his idea.

More importantly, he had recently analyzed and integrated a vast amount of Cyberpunk World's cybernetic technology data, including neural control and cloning techniques obtained from Biotechnica databases, as well as efficient logical fragments extracted from rogue AI code.

The fusion and practical application of these local technologies with the ancient tech of the Adeptus Mechanicus undoubtedly held extremely high research value.

He immediately began formulating a detailed modification plan, his thought core operating at full speed.

The core objective of the modification was to optimize the carrier, Morris, into a Rust Stalker prototype, retaining her combat instincts and Sandevistan adaptability, while completely reconstructing her movement system, weapon system, and energy core, and ensuring that her post-modification appearance was closer to human form.

Osiris' fingertips unconsciously tapped the workbench, emitting a rhythmic patter.

His optical lenses gazed at the unconscious Lieutenant Morris on the experimental table, as if scrutinizing the inherent structural flaws through her body.

"Buddy, look at this neural interface." His synthetic voice carried a hint of electrostatic crackle, almost a sigh, "The rejection is obvious, and the signal transmission efficiency is appallingly low. It's like transmitting precise data with rusted copper wire."

He turned to the servo-skull hovering nearby, its mechanical tentacles tracing a complex trajectory in the air.

"We need to completely replace these inferior parts. The improved Adeptus Mechanicus standard neural net would be a good choice, combined with the efficient protocols we've parsed from those rogue AI codes… data transmission speed and stability should increase by at least three orders of magnitude."

His gaze shifted to Morris's limbs, his optical lenses slightly adjusting their focus.

"As for these movement systems… reinforced tendons and alloy bones? The design concept is too primitive. The energy loss during transmission is simply a blasphemy against energy."

Osiris' mechanical fingers lightly tapped several key nodes on the holographic projection.

"Bionic prosthetics based on the Sicarian power limb blueprint would be a better choice. Spherical joint designs for critical areas, but the exterior must be covered with highly simulated synthetic tissue. This way, it can maintain flexibility beyond human limits without attracting unnecessary attention."

He paused, seemingly calculating something.

"The Sandevistan System can be retained, but it must be deeply integrated into the new neural net and power limb system. We need to reduce its operational load and improve acceleration efficiency and duration."

When his gaze fell on the Mantis Blades on Morris's forearms, Osiris let out a short, metallic chuckle.

"These primitive weapons that rely on physical cutting… Buddy, you and I both know there's a more elegant solution."

His mechanical tentacles brought up a set of complex sonic resonance data.

"A Sonic Blade system would be a perfect replacement. It can retract into the forearm structure normally and slide into the palm when needed. The ultra-high frequency sound waves upon activation, though beyond human hearing, will instinctively discomfort any creature."

Osiris' synthetic voice rarely carried a hint of appreciation: "The most ingenious part is its killing mechanism. By releasing sound waves of different frequencies to detect the target's molecular vibration frequency, then adjusting to a synchronized resonance mode… the armor struck will begin to disintegrate at a molecular level. Although the effect takes a second or two to fully manifest, the wait is worth it."

His attention then turned to the almost invisible monofilament wires.

"These thin wires can be retained, but they need upgrading. If coated with a special resonant layer, they can carry sonic frequencies, greatly enhancing cutting power. The Launcher can be hidden within the reinforced finger joints, completely preserving the appearance."

Osiris' mechanical tentacles drew a circle around the chest area.

"The energy system must be completely replaced. These scattered battery cells are too inefficient. A miniaturized plasma reactor implanted in the chest can provide far more powerful energy than before. The external chest contour will remain intact, with heat dissipation and shielding integrated within the bionic rib structure."

Finally, his gaze lingered on Morris's face.

"The aesthetic design should preserve human features as much as possible. Most tissues can be retained or replaced with bionic alternatives, removing only severely damaged parts. The body surface will be covered with synthetic material indistinguishable from real skin, beneath which lies dark red composite armor, imprinted with necessary binary prayers and cogwheel insignia."

His mechanical finger lightly tapped the temple area.

"Head modifications should be minimal. Retain the original facial contours, placing sensor interfaces only where necessary. Facial expression muscles need to be preserved and optimized, and composite optical lenses should be disguised to resemble human irises… only flashing red when activated."

Osiris turned to the servo-skull, his optical lenses flickering slightly: "What do you think of this modification plan, Buddy? A nearly perfect human form on the outside, but one of the Adeptus Mechanicus' deadliest creations on the inside."

The plan was finalized, all steps, material lists, and energy requirement estimates clearly laid out in Osiris' mind.

He pulled up the workshop's resource inventory, quickly cross-referencing to confirm that most basic materials were sufficient, and a few rare elements and specific components could be collected by Maine's crew later, or substituted/manufactured using existing materials.

"The modification process is estimated to take seventy-two standard hours. Success rate assessment: ninety-one point three percent." Osiris issued instructions to the servo-skull standing by: "Record: Project 'Rust Stalker Improved' initiated. Prepare biocompatible synthetic materials and neural interface equipment, maintain carrier vital signs at optimal thresholds."

Inside the workshop, more mechanical arms began to move, emitting subtle hydraulic and motor sounds.

Various gleaming precision tools were brought to the experimental table, and containers holding special bionic materials and catalysts were precisely positioned by mechanical tentacles.

Osiris walked to the experimental table, his crimson optical lenses scanning Lieutenant Morris's pale and slightly contorted face one last time.

In his eyes, this was no longer a complete "person," but a tool embryo that needed to be optimized and reshaped.

However, unlike before, this time he intended to retain the human appearance of this tool.

Without the slightest hesitation, a cutting tentacle, its tip flickering with high-frequency energy arcs, precisely extended towards the armor joint at the back of Lieutenant Morris's neck; the surgery began from the least conspicuous part.

The modification had begun.

This Militech modified soldier would be reborn as a Rust Stalker in the hands of the Tech-Priest.
