Chapter 9 - chapter 9

The perfect forever

The day was soft and golden, as if the sun itself wanted to bless them.

The ocean breeze carried the scent of jasmine and salt, rustling through the silk ribbons tied along the garden path. White roses framed the aisle, their petals catching the morning light like tiny stars.

Fabiola stood before the mirror in her wedding gown — lace, delicate and timeless, hugging her frame like a whisper of memory. Her hands trembled as she fixed her veil, her heart a wild rhythm beneath her ribs.

Mrs. Jones appeared behind her, smiling through tears. "You look just like your father would've dreamed, my love."

Fabiola turned, her eyes wet. "Do you think he'd be proud?"

Her mother touched her cheek. "He already is. He always wanted you to find someone who loved you like this."

Fabiola smiled softly. "Ben's always been that someone."

Down by the sea, Ben waited — tall, elegant, dressed in a crisp white suit that glowed beneath the morning sun. He held his hands together, trying to steady the storm in his chest.

George nudged him, grinning. "You nervous?"

Ben chuckled under his breath. "Terrified."

"Of what? You've loved her forever."

"That's exactly why."

The music began — a gentle piano melody that floated over the waves. And then he saw her.

Fabiola stepped onto the aisle, her veil fluttering in the wind, her eyes locked on his. Every memory — every tear, every goodbye, every promise — shimmered in that single moment.

The crowd faded. The world quieted.

There was only her.

When she reached him, Ben took her hands. "You're real," he whispered, his voice breaking.

She smiled. "Always have been."

The ceremony was simple, but every word carried the weight of everything they had lived through.

When it was time for vows, Fabiola spoke first.

"From the day I met you, I felt something I couldn't name," she began softly. "And when you left, I thought I'd lost it forever. But love… love waited. Through distance. Through silence. Through time. You taught me that when two hearts are meant to find each other, nothing can keep them apart — not even the stars."

Ben's throat tightened as he wiped a tear from her cheek.

"I've made a lot of mistakes," he said. "But loving you was never one of them. You were my first thought every morning in London and my last before sleep. You're my home, Fabiola. My reason, my peace, my forever."

The minister smiled. "By the power vested in me… you may now kiss your wife."

Ben didn't hesitate. He drew her close and kissed her — slow, tender, filled with every promise he'd ever made. The crowd cheered, the sea roared, and somewhere above, the stars shone faintly in the daylight.

That evening, they sat together by the same hill where everything began. Fabiola's head rested on Ben's shoulder, the sun sinking into the horizon in a blaze of pink and gold.

"Do you realize," she said softly, "we started here?"

He smiled, tracing small circles on her hand. "And we're still here."

She laughed quietly. "Maybe the stars just wanted to see it come full circle."

"Maybe," he said, turning to her, "they just wanted proof that love doesn't fade — it evolves."

She kissed him gently. "You're getting poetic again."

"I'm married now," he teased. "Comes with the territory."

A Year Later

The boutique smelled of fresh flowers and rain.

Fabiola sat behind her desk, sketching a new design — a bridal gown with a constellation pattern embroidered into the lace. She smiled as she added the final touches.

The door opened quietly.

Ben entered, holding a small bouquet of daisies. "Happy anniversary, Mrs. Mark-Jones."

She looked up, grinning. "You remembered."

He raised a brow. "I proposed under the stars, Fab. How could I forget?"

He placed the flowers on her desk and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Do you ever miss that first summer?"

"Sometimes," she said. "But I think I love this chapter more."

"Why?"

"Because now, I get to live the story every day."

Ben turned her around and kissed her forehead. "Then let's keep writing it."

She smiled against his chest. "Forever?

"Forever."

That night, they went back to the hill again — their hill.

They lay side by side beneath the vast, glittering sky, fingers intertwined. The same stars that had witnessed their first kiss now watched over their forever.

Fabiola whispered, "Do you think we'll still be here when we're old and gray?"

Ben chuckled softly. "If you'll still hold my hand, I'll never let go."

She turned to him, her eyes glowing in the moonlight. "Then it's settled."

The waves crashed in the distance, the stars burned bright, and the night wrapped around them like a promise — the same promise they had made long ago:

"No matter how far the stars are, love will always find its way back."

And it did.

Always.

The End — A Promise Kept.

A Word of Encouragement for Young Adults

Life doesn't always move in a straight line — sometimes, the people and dreams meant for us take the long way home. The Stars Between Us reminds us that love, friendship, and growth all require patience, courage, and faith.

Fabiola and Ben's journey teaches that even when the world changes, what's real never fades. As young adults, you will face seasons of distance, doubt, and change — but don't let fear make you give up on what matters most. Every challenge, heartbreak, and delay is shaping you into someone stronger, wiser, and more ready for the happiness waiting ahead.

Never rush love or purpose. The best things in life take time — they grow quietly, like stars appearing one by one in the night sky. Believe in your journey, even when it feels uncertain. Trust that every closed door is leading you toward something beautiful.

And when you finally find what's meant for you — whether it's love, passion, or peace — hold it close and cherish it deeply. Because the truth is simple: what's meant for you will always find you, even across time, oceans, and distance.
