Chapter 39 - 39

David was shocked and didn't understand what was happening. He turned his head and asked Steven:

"Wait, what's going on? Why did the sand explode on Nathan?"

"Hold on, did you know about this? If you did, then why didn't you stop Nathan too?"

Steven was annoyed.

'Why does he have so many questions?'

When Steven didn't answer quickly, David widened his eyes and pointed at Steven:

"Don't tell me!!"

"Was it you who did this?"

Steven looked at David with empty eyes.

'Where did he get that conclusion from?! Does he see me as someone who pulls pranks?'

Steven shook his head and sighed tiredly.

Suddenly David spoke cautiously:

"Steven…"

Steven noticed the change in David's expression and tone.

"Hm?"

David spoke warningly:

"If we don't stop Nathan now, he'll turn the classroom upside down."

Steven looked toward Nathan, who was smiling dangerously and staring into the classroom.

Steven felt a bad feeling take over him.

Nathan entered the classroom, dusting off his hair and face, then lightly moved his right hand behind his back where no one noticed.

He let out a faint laugh and spoke in a tone carrying a bit of madness:

"Have I been a good boy lately that it made you forget who I am?"

The classroom atmosphere tensed, and the students inside were extremely nervous.

Kai, Ira, and Evelyn—who were the main planners of this prank, or perhaps the revenge, suggested by Ira and opposed by Agnes and Leonard—sat in their seats.

After hearing Nathan's words, Ira spoke in a disgusted tone:

"A good boy? Are you joking?"

"Then who pulled that stupid prank yesterday for no reason?"

Nathan sneered:

"Huh? For no reason?!"

"Who told you to meddle in my business from the beginning?"

"And I was being nice by making it such a small prank."

Kai frowned and spoke:

"So you admit it now."

Nathan sneered and looked at several students—those were part of the servants he formed.

The six students looked at each other, then nodded together.

Nathan raised his hand and placed it on his neck, cracking it.

Kai felt a bad feeling while Leonard shook his head and muttered:

"I told you."

Right after Leonard finished speaking, a desk flew toward him and Kai.

Kai reacted quickly and stopped the desk with a fast kick.

Before Kai could understand what was happening, several chairs and desks flew directly toward him, Ira, Evelyn, and all around the classroom.

Nathan was destroying anything in front of him and throwing it aside.

The students rushed out of the classroom nervously—none of them wanted to get involved in the affairs of the rich families or interfere with the rabid dog of the Anderson family.

Only Nathan, the main characters, and Nathan's six servants remained inside.

Kai spoke to Nathan nervously:

"Wait! Wait! Why are you destroying the classroom's belongings?"

"Your problem is with us, not with them!"

Nathan smiled and spoke:

"Yes, my problem isn't with them, but what can I do? I need to break them right now."

Ira spoke angrily:

"You lunatic."

Nathan laughed.

"Thanks, I like being a lunatic."

Then he grabbed anything in front of him and destroyed it.

Kai rushed toward him trying to stop him and grabbed his hand:

"Stop Nathan, we're sorry, we're sorry, stop destroying the academy's belongings."

Nathan looked at him, then smiled gently.

When Kai felt relieved, thinking Nathan accepted their apology—a sudden kick hit his legs, knocking him to the ground.

Kai stared at Nathan with empty eyes.

"...."

Nathan mocked him:

"I don't need an apology."

Ira and Evelyn grew angrier, and Ira screamed at Nathan:

"You've crossed the line, Nathan!"

Nathan laughed:

"Hah! I don't like having limits, so I'll always cross them."

Ira and Evelyn rushed to punch Nathan, but they were interrupted by six students—

his servants: Nuki, Toki, Loki, Boki, and the other two he named Bushy and Juno.

Leonard pulled Agnes and headed to the exit.

Evelyn widened her eyes:

"Leo… what are you and Agnes doing?"

Leonard laughed lightly and spoke:

"We, Agnes and I, have nothing to do with your stupid actions."

"So handle the consequences yourselves."

After saying that, he turned and left with Agnes.

Evelyn muttered while grinding her teeth:

"I'm sure if I'm ever in danger, that bastard will just leave me and run."

She stepped forward to hit one of them when a wave of water splashed over her from head to toe.

She looked in shock at a certain student.

Then she exploded in anger:

"You bastard! Using skills is forbidden inside the academy!"

The student, whom Nathan called Loki, spoke nervously and fearfully:

"I-I'm s-sorry, it wasn't on purpose, please forgive me."

Ira gritted her teeth and spoke:

"Were you one of those who helped with yesterday's water prank?"

Loki tensed and tried to justify:

"I'm really sorry, w-we were forced by the boss."

Evelyn spoke angrily as she sent a punch toward Loki:

"To hell with you and your boss."

Ira joined Evelyn in beating the servants.

Meanwhile, Nathan mocked Kai, who was still on the floor:

"What? Weren't you planning to stop me?"

Kai gritted his teeth as he looked at the wound on his cheek.

He didn't know when Nathan had tied those invisible wires everywhere so that after Kai fell, he couldn't move in any direction or he'd get hurt by the wires.

Kai spoke:

"You can't use abilities anywhere inside the academy."

Nathan spoke indifferently:

"I know that."

"But I do whatever I want, and no one can stop me."

Then suddenly, he smashed the floor.

Kai looked at him as if he was looking at a madman.

"Ugh, why are you breaking things?! Stop!"

Nathan smiled:

"Haha, the more I break, the happier I'll be later."

Kai looked at him in confusion.

How would that make him happier?

Outside the classroom,

Steven had seen everything Nathan did.

'... That lunatic.'

Steven walked through the crowd of students gathered to watch the show.

He entered the classroom, looked at the chaos before him, and sighed in annoyance:

'This lunatic crossed the line.'

He approached Nathan and put his hand on Nathan's shoulder:

"Nathan, stop this."

Nathan turned and looked at Steven annoyed.

"Why should I? Did you forget you didn't protect me either? You only protected that idiot."

Steven didn't know how to convince Nathan to stop, but suddenly an idea struck him.

'Damn… do I really have to use this?'

He looked at Nathan, who clearly wasn't going to stop, and shook his head in resignation.

'Fine, fine, I can do this.'

Steven raised his hand and patted Nathan's hair.

"Sorry, I'll protect you next time, so you have to be a good boy so you can stay my friend."

Nathan widened his eyes in shock.

Nathan wasn't the only one shocked— even Ira, Evelyn, and Kai were all staring at Steven strangely.

Even Steven felt chills from his own actions now.

Then Nathan burst out laughing.

"Hahaha!"

"Alright, alright, I'll be a good boy to keep my friend."

Nathan dispelled his skill and dissolved all the wires, then told his servants to stop.

As they were about to leave, Ira's voice stopped them:

"The academy will punish you for this."

Nathan looked at Ira and smiled mockingly:

"Hm, I look forward to it."

After some time, Nathan, Ira, Evelyn, and Kai were summoned to the office of the academy's vice principal.

The vice principal was a very strong awakener, also ranked among the top 500 awakeners. His name was August Ashley, and he had white hair mixed with a bit of blonde, and brown eyes.

He sat on his chair, tapping on his desk coldly.

Ira, Agnes, and Kai didn't know how long passed before Vice Principal August spoke with coldness and slight disappointment:

"Despite all the long years, never have new students destroyed academy property and fought each other so soon after entering the academy."

Then he looked at Ira and Evelyn with a slight frown:

"And there are also two children of the Five Great Families at the center of this mess."

Evelyn lowered her head while Ira spoke, trying to justify their actions:

"Vice principal, it wasn't us who did this, it was Nathan."

Kai nodded.

"Yes, yes, he entered the classroom and started destroying things."

Neither of them mentioned anything about their prank.

The vice principal looked at Nathan.

Nathan looked at him with fake sadness:

"That's not true… why is everyone blaming me?"

"I wanted to enter the classroom peacefully, but the sand suddenly exploded on me the moment I walked in. I knew it was a prank they made. I was angry, so I tried to talk to them to understand why they did it, but they suddenly started destroying the things."

Nathan sneered internally.

'Heh, do they think I caused chaos for no reason? I destroyed the classroom camera the moment I entered, so no one will know anything.'

When Nathan entered the classroom, he hid the hand he used for his skill, created a wire, and destroyed the camera with it.

Ira, Evelyn, and Kai looked at Nathan in shock—

How dare he say that after what he did?

Kai spoke, objecting:

"Don't lie…"

Vice principal August cut him off sharply:

"Alright, that's enough."

"You three will be punished, and you must pay for the damages."

Kai opened his mouth in shock:

"What!! But we didn't…."

"Enough."

The vice principal interrupted him impatiently.

Then Nathan spoke:

"Vice principal, please don't pressure them. They're my classmates too. And about Ira and Evelyn, I don't want their families to find out—they might scold them."

"And I want to pay for the damages myself."

Everyone looked at Nathan in shock.

Nathan smiled:

"Send all the costs to my father. He will pay."

Vice principal August shook his head and spoke:

"You're a kind boy. I don't know why there are bad rumors about you."

Then he turned to Kai, Evelyn, and Ira:

"You will clean the training grounds daily for a week."

Then he waved his hand:

"Alright, you may leave."

Ira, Evelyn, and Kai glared sharply at Nathan, then left.

Nathan mocked them, then also left.
