Chapter 84: Meeting Again
Naval base.
When Sengoku returned and began testing his Devil Fruit ability…
On the training field, a circle of marines stood around him, shouting in amazement.
Sengoku had transformed into a massive golden Buddha, his body several times larger than before, shining brilliantly. His defense and strength had skyrocketed.
"Where is Roy? I'm going to challenge him and take back my—" Sengoku clenched his enormous glowing fist, filled with confidence.
...
The first half of the Grand Line, near the Calm Belt.
A pirate ship drifted slowly across the water. Linlin stood at the bow, watching the doctors gathered on deck.
After days of research, and after recruiting even more doctors, they still had found no solution to her food cravings.
"There's too little reference material. We need more medical books," an elderly doctor said urgently.
"Yes, I heard there's a place called Torino Kingdom in the South Blue. Maybe we should head there," another doctor suggested.
"Alright," Linlin nodded.
...
A few days later, South Blue, Torino Kingdom.
Inside the house where Roy and Toki were staying.
Roy looked at the basket of freshly picked sweet and sour fruit, tossed one in his mouth, sat on Toki's lap, and flipped through a book.
With little to do lately, aside from his daily training, he was either doing unspeakable things with Toki or reading basic medical texts to gain some common sense.
Sadly, their chocolate stash had already disappeared because he and Toki kept teasing each other every day.
Before they officially became a couple, he thought such things were nothing special.
But once he tasted Toki's "candy," tsk tsk…
Totally addictive.
Grow up quickly… so he could enjoy candy and pick "fruit" at the same time.
Toki gently wrapped her arms around him, enjoying the peace. Holding Roy felt like holding a son… and also like raising a tiny husband.
Honestly, it was pretty fun.
"Knock knock knock!"
They both looked at the door. Roy slipped a bookmark into place, hopped off Toki's lap, and went with her to open it.
"Squeak."
Roy opened the wooden door and saw the chubby boy gasping for air. Roy patted him on the shoulder. "What's wrong? Calm down."
"Brother Roy… oh no! Pirates are attacking!"
The boy struggled to breathe as he spoke, panic written on his face.
"Go help your uncles."
"I got it!"
Roy turned to Pandora. "Stay here and protect Sister Toki. Horus and I will handle the pirates."
"Understood. I will protect my mistress," Pandora said proudly, floating next to Toki.
Toki blushed. "W… what are you saying…?"
"Let's go, Master!" Horus flew over, letting Roy climb onto his back.
The chubby boy tried to hop on too, but Horus ignored him and shot into the sky.
"I want to ride that too…" the boy muttered sadly.
...
Torino Kingdom, by the shore.
A massive pirate ship was docked at the beach. On deck, countless doctors trembled as giant birds swarmed overhead.
"We're not here to rob you. We only need your help. Please don't make us fight," Linlin said from the bow, gripping a long knife. Homies stood behind her, glaring at the armed locals and the circling giant birds.
"Pirates are pirates. Stop pretending you're here peacefully! Leave now!"
"Our Torino Kingdom doesn't welcome pirates!"
"Seriously, Roy didn't even get to see his friend, and instead he gets pirates! Just great!"
People raised their weapons, glaring at Linlin with anger and disgust.
"Wait, you know Brother Roy?" Linlin quickly asked, sensing the misunderstanding.
"Ha! As if someone as good as Roy would know you!" a potato shaped middle aged man snapped.
"Brother Roy is still so popular…" Linlin muttered with a complicated smile.
"Pretending you know Roy? What a joke!" an older man sneered. The pirate flag told them everything they needed to know.
"But I really know him, I'm Roy's…" Linlin stopped.
What exactly was she to Roy?
Brother?
Not blood related.
Someone she liked?
Someone she hoped to marry someday?
Roy didn't want that kind of relationship unless she completely changed.
She needed to stop her food cravings, listen to Roy, never anger him, stay beautiful, right?
Yeah… godbrother, at best…
Linlin suddenly realized she didn't know what to call herself.
"Hahaha! She can't even answer now!" the middle aged uncle laughed.
A white cloud rushed overhead. Everyone looked up—the uncles, giant birds, Linlin, the doctors, even the Homies.
"She's the Linlin I mentioned before," Roy's voice came from above. He leapt down from the cloud. "This is all just a misunderstanding. Please don't fight."
"Linlin had no intention of fighting them either," she said softly. She looked at Roy. She hadn't seen him for a year, and he had grown taller.
"Oh, I see." The uncles lowered their guard, embarrassed. The giant birds landed as well.
"Should we go?" Linlin asked the doctors behind her. She didn't want Roy to see her right now.
Because if Roy saw her, he would tell her—and teach her—everything they discussed a year ago.
And once he finished those things… Roy would leave.
Linlin couldn't bear that.
"No, Linlin. We need the Torino Kingdom's vast medical knowledge if we want any hope of curing your food cravings," Kureha said from the railing. She glanced at Roy.
"Then I'll leave first." Linlin rubbed her forehead awkwardly. "I'll have them watch over you. I… cough… I'm leaving."
"Why leave? Does Linlin hate Brother Roy?" Roy asked innocently.
"No! No, it's just... ugh, never mind! So annoying!" Linlin stomped her foot, pretending to be angry as she looked away.
"..."
