Chapter 177 - Chapter 177: Peach Rabbit with an Unpleasant Complexion

Chapter 177: Peach Rabbit with an Unpleasant Complexion

"Hiss hiss hiss!"

"Pff!"

Goa's port was packed with merchant ships as well as pirate ships. But the more people there were, the more problems followed.

In a crisis like this, there were always a few idiots who would slap together a so called lifesaving tool that was anything but reliable.

As the ships kept plummeting, the makeshift giant parachutes strapped to them barely cushioned anything.

Then it happened.

A crack split open in the parachute above a merchant ship. Air kept seeping through, and as the ship fell, the tear widened bit by bit.

"Oh no!"

The Navy lieutenant guarding the civilians went pale. She had not even mastered the Six Styles yet, so saving a shipful of people right now was impossible for her. If that crack kept spreading, she would be buried along with everyone else.

Clatter!

A figure suddenly burst through the clouds, flapping its wings, and grabbed the edge of the ship.

Do not give up.

Another winged figure grabbed on. Then another. More and more flying people appeared, reaching out to seize the ship's sides.

"Please don't lose heart, because even at our most desperate moment, someone saved us!"

A Vilmeyo Island native flew over and landed directly on top of the torn parachute, using his own body to block the crack. Head lowered, he shouted with everything he had, forcing sound into a ship full of despair.

Not far away, Gion arrived with Moonwalk steps. She looked at the unconscious Roy in her arms, then stared in shock at the Vilmeyo Islanders helping them.

Roy's idea, combined with the winged natives dragging from above, drastically slowed the descent of the ships.

If nobody found a solution for the floating islands falling out of control, maybe elite Marines and pirates could have survived through sheer luck.

But ordinary people would have had no chance at all.

"Cough, cough… I… I'm much better…"

Roy woke groggily. He shook his head, wiped the blood from his eyes, and forced them open.

"Really?" Gion stared at him, clearly unconvinced.

Ever since Roy had headbutted Shiki into unconsciousness and stunned both her and Shanks, Gion's view of him had changed.

This guy might be a bit of a sadist, but overall… he was not bad.

"Mm…"

Roy nodded, pried Gion's hand away, and hurried toward the ships with Moonwalk.

It was not that Roy wanted to stop enjoying the dizzy feeling. To be honest, it was kind of nice.

But at a moment like this, his conscience would not let him keep sleeping.

Roy could be selfish, and he was extremely wary of the Navy's upper ranks. Still, in his previous life, even as an ordinary law abiding citizen, he had kept a sliver of kindness.

If a large number of innocent people died in front of him because of the Golden Lion's man made disaster, a disaster worsened by the butterfly effect of his own actions, Roy could not pretend he felt nothing.

Yes. He was cold on the outside, warm on the inside.

Roy simply hated the World Government's rotten upper layers and the filth clinging to the Navy.

The islands were falling at terrifying speed, but the ships were dropping far slower thanks to the double deceleration.

Roy glanced at Shanks's ship in the distance, exchanged a quick smile with Sanji, who was peeking from a cabin window, then turned and rushed toward a merchant vessel.

Roy reached out and grabbed the ship's edge. Using Moonwalk, he worked together with the winged man to slow the descent as much as possible.

Gion agreed with Roy's approach.

Saving the majority was always better than saving only a few.

Her plan was the same double reduction in speed.

As long as the makeshift parachute remained intact, everyone who could fly or use Moonwalk had to use upward force to reduce the ship's fall as much as possible.

"Give it everything you've got!"

A tiny little creature flapped its tiny wings, clenched its teeth, and turned bright red as it tried to fly upward with everyone else.

A single person's strength, whether it was wing flapping lift or Moonwalk recoil, was meaningless against the massive weight of a ship.

But Roy remembered something.

Morgans's World Economic News Paper had once used countless birds to drag its headquarters to a new location after printing news that enraged the World Government.

Right now, it was the same idea.

Large numbers of Vilmeyo villagers clung to the ships' sides, gritting their teeth and flapping with all their strength.

Boom boom boom!

Buzz buzz buzz!

Below, the sea convulsed violently.

Island after island slammed into the ocean with thunderous crashes. Some shattered into fragments. Others plunged straight down, smashing into the sea and even the seabed.

Worse still, two islands collided before they even hit the water.

A massive wave rose visibly from the sea and exploded outward. Shockwaves from one impact overlapped with others, rippling and crashing together.

This was a horrifying man made disaster.

It was like a weakened Fujitora using a weakened version of the Gravity Gravity Fruit.

Several floating islands fell from the sky, and the sea took the blow.

In the surrounding waters, countless sea creatures were killed by the shock and crushed beneath debris.

On the islands themselves, most ferocious beasts were flung away, while others were crushed to pieces as the land compressed and shifted.

In the very heart of the Kingdom of Goa, the royal palace collapsed first.

Then the nobles' villas.

Then the slums.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye.

The entire Kingdom of Goa was gone.

High above the sea, ship after ship, thanks to everyone's desperate effort, finally landed safely.

Of course, the number of Vilmeyo Islanders was still far smaller than the number of Goa refugees.

The speed was reduced enough to keep people alive.

But it was not reduced to nothing. The moment the ships hit the sea, the violent shaking still threw people across the decks like toys.

On the edge of a merchant ship, Roy sat down hard and panted.

He had fought the Golden Lion, then constantly used Moonwalk through the sky, burning through his stamina. On top of that, the headbutt injury was catching up to him.

Roy was starting to feel it.

Gion stepped in with Moonwalk and sat beside him.

Before she could even speak, Roy closed his eyes and tipped backward.

Gion caught him instantly.

Then Roy turned to the side and settled down.

Gion's lips twitched as she let the bastard rest his head on her shoulder.

Roy's mind went blank. He truly did not mean it.

It was just that her clothes were unbelievably slick.

Yeah. Really.

"Phew…"

Gion let out a quiet breath and looked down at Roy with a cold smile.

Hold it together, Momousagi. You cannot beat him.

His forehead is too hard.

She comforted herself with that thought.

...

Roy dreamed that he had gone to Skypiea.

Just like Luffy and Usopp, he leaped onto those soft, fluffy clouds.

The clouds were so white, so bouncy, like a trampoline.

He jumped freely on the trampoline like clouds, again and again, enjoying the feeling.

But no matter how high he bounced, he always felt that his wives, sailing across the Sea of Clouds, looked… unpleasant.
