Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Army ExpansionT

he Terran armies of StarCraft are characterized by their versatility, adaptability, and mix of units, ranging from basic infantry like Marines to powerful assault tanks and spaceships. Terran forces can be composed of air units (Vultures, Vikings, Battlecruisers) and ground units (Marines, Firebats, Ghosts, Goliaths, Siege Tanks).

With all buildings now appeared, Julius wanted all combat units ready for conquest.

The mountain fortress had become a veritable industrial hornet's nest. With the entire Terran tech tree unlocked, every building had been constructed at record speed under Data's implacable supervision. The Starport now dominated a large sector, flanked by the expanded Factory and Barracks. The air vibrated not only with the noise of machines but also with the roar of engines and combat drills.

Julius, standing on the command gantry overlooking the main training area, felt a thrill of anticipation. This was no longer a colony. It was a planetary-level military base.

"Data, production status," he announced, his eyes gleaming.

The android, without even consulting a tablet, responded instantly.

"Production prioritized on combat units. Full report follows, Commander."

The field below was a breathtaking spectacle. Squads of Marines practiced firing on the move, the characteristic tac-tac-tac of their impalers echoing. The Goliaths, imposing, performed heavy patrols, their cannons swinging with a menacing slowness. In the sky, protected by the dome, a pair of Wraiths performed silent maneuvers, appearing and disappearing like ghosts.

It was an army. A real one. Versatile, balanced, and entirely devoted to his cause.

"Reports from Raynor and Nova are encouraging," added Data. "The first adjacent forests have been secured. A source of potable water has been located fifteen kilometers away. Initial fauna analyses indicate several edible species. The primary xeno threat appears to be of an insectoid and tribal nature, but nothing that can withstand an organized conventional force."

Julius clenched his fist. All the pieces of the puzzle were coming together.

"Good. The defense phase is over. Let's move to the offensive. Objective: secure a fifty-kilometer perimeter around the mountain. Eradicate any significant threat. And establish minor outposts on strategic points."

"A sound strategy, Commander," approved Data. "I will coordinate the deployments. The Battlecruisers will provide fire support from high altitude. Nova's Ghosts can mark priority targets for the Siege Tanks."

"Do it, Data."

An order was broadcast through the communication network. Almost immediately, the activity in the base changed nature. The buzz of training gave way to the roar of starting engines. The dome's doors slowly opened, revealing the rocky, hostile landscape.

The first Vultures, agile, sped through the gate, followed by the heavy Goliaths. Squads of Marines and Firebats boarded the Dropships that took off with a rumble. In the sky, above the dome, the three Battlecruisers, massive flagship vessels, took position, their silhouettes obscuring the light of the moons.

Julius watched his army deploy. This was no longer a fan's dream, nor a survival nightmare. It was a reality. He had summoned the lightning and thunder of the Koprulu Sector, and he was going to use it to forge an empire in fire and steel.

The conquest of LV-492 had begun.
