Chapter 24 - Killing the 1st Echelon Goblin Commander!

Only two undead Goblin Captains were left, the shield-broken wielder and the axe-chipped wielder. They stood, buying time with suicidal attacks.

Every attack left a new wound in the green skin, but the retaliations turned the undead into a scrap.

With one last brave stroke, the captain buried its axe in the Goblin Commander's body, but the Goblin Commander's claws ripped its head off a moment later. However, its death wasn't in vain, as it left the wound gaping, pouring dark greenish blood down the plated abs.

At the same time, Kael had already charged and slashed beneath the ribs, carving a diagonal furrow across the previous gash.

The Goblin Commander shouted, bending his entire body and exposing his back to Fenric.

Kael shouted, "NOW!"

Fenric's eyes turned serious as his gauntlets flared gold. He then dashed, each step making a deep sound.

The Goblin Commander sensed the extreme danger, but his ankle and ribs were damaged, causing him to twist slowly. Its club rose up far too slowly.

Fenric's blow struck slightly below the ribcage.

BOOM!

Light flashed brightly. A six-meter shock ring exploded, flattening the grass and knocking Kael off his feet.

Kael's eyes lit up in surprise through the fog. Fenric's arm was buried to the elbow in the Goblin Commander's stomach, with scale mail spider-webbed outward from a fist-sized hole.

However, the cost was instant. The backlash ripped Fenric's hand, causing skin to peel as the energy escaped. Fenric faltered, his face was pale as he breathed haggardly and vomited blood.

The Goblin Commander's condition worsened. It stumbled, coughing out thick black blood. A roar choked off halfway, replaced by wet gurgles. Its free hands scrabbled as its claws dug furrows in the ground, struggling to stay upright.

Kael twisted his lips into a wicked grin. "Good job! It's my time now."

As the Goblin Commander clutched its ruptured stomach, trembling with rage and agony, Kael healed Fenric before drinking around half of the mana potion and charged forward.

Kael vanished into thin air, appearing on the Goblin Commander's blind side as he almost used all of his mana on the [Azure Slash] skill. In that same breath he unleashed the condensed wave.

Swoosh!

The azure crescent cleaved through, aiming straight for the thick green neck—only for the Goblin Commander's body to flare as it used its [Tyrant's Fortitude (1st Echelon level 2)] skill.

—> Tyrant's Fortitude (1st Echelon Lv 2) activated.

– Damage taken −30 % (10 s)

– Move speed −30 % (60 s)

Kael had expected this, as he was also desperate to kill the Goblin Commander as soon as possible at the moment.

Because after Fenric used his ultimate skill and made a huge commotion, Kael felt two life energies that should belong to the 1st Echelon Awakeners.

That's why he had to kill the Goblin Commander with all he had, since he didn't know what those two 1st Echelon Awakeners might do when they saw this situation.

Looking at the incoming attack, the Goblin Commander raised its arm and spiked club.

Unfortunately for the goblin, Kael's attack cut through the arm and club and almost killed it, as it managed to cut half of its neck cleanly.

"Not enough to kill it?" Fenric called, breathing haggardly at the side.

"Shut up! If you've managed to let it use its skill when you attack, this green bastard would've been dead if I attacked after the 10-second effect." Kael snorted unhappily now that there was an unexpected situation where two 1st Echelon Awakeners were lurking nearby.

"Make me an opening!" Kael ordered.

Fenric immediately charged forward and attacked. Every punch sounded like firecrackers, with each critical attack cutting ten seconds off his ability cooldown.

However, the Goblin Commander's strength was still monstrous even though its movement attacks were slowed from the backlash of the attack as well as its injury.

At the side, Kael gulped the mana potion leftover, filling his mana to around 40%. After watching the fight for a while, Kael found an opening he needed.

"Fenric, feint left!" Kael shouted.

Fenric complied, drifting wide before planting his boot and jumping right instead. The sluggish goblin shifted clumsily to follow the fake, his neck wound spurting with each movement.

Kael arrived behind the goblin in that instant, reversing the blade before swinging and aiming it at the previous severed wound on its neck.

However, the goblin noticed it and instinctively bowed, attacked Kael but was blocked by the last Undead Goblin Captain, and killed it instantly.

At the same time, Fenric had already planted half a dozen jabs into the goblin's ribs. And when he felt that his ultimate skill was almost ready to be used again, he nodded at Kael.

As he failed to cut the neck, Kael used his speed as an advantage by cutting shallow cuts across its legs, causing the goblin to divert his attention.

'Three… Two… One!' Fenric nodded his head slowly, indicating the timing to Kael.

The goblin commander immediately raised its hand to guard as it sensed the danger from Fenric, but the slow debuff made the block late as Fenric's fist exploded on the goblin's stomach.

BOOM!

A second burst of light erupted, followed by a vacuum snap and a six-meter shock ring that rippled like an invisible tide.

The goblin commander swayed, its head was dangling from the neck while its torso was cratered but not dead yet.

Fenric's backlash happened again as he retreated and stumbled, feeling exhausted. "All yours," he collapsed to one knee.

Kael instantly became serious as he shot forward. The goblin still attempted a desperation swipe even though it was blinded by blood.

Kael ducked under the arm, using every muscle as he swung as hard as he could while using all of his mana on the [Azure Slash] skill.

Instead of releasing it into a crescent-shaped wave of energy, Kael condensed the mana solely onto the sword's edge, trading reach for penetration.

He swung up through the old wound.

Swishh!

The blade passed through its neck cleanly as if cutting through paper.

The Goblin Commander's head lifted free, spinning slowly with a frozen expression between rage and disbelief. A fountain of black-green blood erupted after it.
